I found this on an old mix from high school and didn't even know what it was (thanks Shazam). Anyone know if this song was ever in a movie soundtrack or TV show? I just can't remember where I came across it. I've never listened to this, so it's really annoying me trying to figure out how I stumbled across them. Thanks to anyone in advance!
my buddy played this song at work today and triggered so much in me. love the sisters of mercy. the cure and tool and now tiamat consumes me as well. dig a little deeper and my swedish roots vibrate with each song i hear. cheers to all
@lenka0378 I've got the lyrics to "Church of Tiamat" tattooed down the length of my right forearm. So...I think I know what you mean, maybe? Thanks for sympathizing either way. Even if you and I are just a strangers over the internet, probably worlds removed from each other. It's good to know that ideas and feelings are impervious to those kind of concieved boundaries...I hope that Tiamat is around for years to come...Thanks for being a fellow fan...we seem few and far between...
Oh, and @Lurkinginshadow - the key phrase is "statistical distribution"... you might want to look into who ELSE is in your assigned category, even though you yourself might prove to be an exception.
Can you people stop categorizing? Who the hell cares if you think it's "goth metal" or "black metal" or whatever else? At what point does this all cease to be relevant? And who exactly cares that you like "old" or "new" songs from Tiamat, or whether or not they "used to" be something or not? Can people not stick to opinions like "I like this because..." or "I don't like this because..." instead of making themselves up to be music critics?
Great song! Skeleton Skeletron is my favourite Tiamat's album. After almost 12 years I can't stop listening it and I am never bored with it. Absolute brilliance!
maybe this is just a thought. but i feel this is more gothic rock. true goth.kinda mellow and easy to listen to. but dark. kinda like she wants revenge. its not heavy at all, but i like. reminds me of the older vampire movies like from dusk til dawn, and blade.
@Tie4821 naw, they were doom metal - slow and heavy. then they turned into serious crap, like the above. see their older stuff in "whatever that hurts" and "sleeping beauty" if you haven't already.
I think this is about changing for the better, IF we want: he begins by saying "we could run in the garden of eden" and later "you could have anything if you jsut give it back" suggesting anarcho communism, a concept not unknown in the so called "old testament " (though I'm certain Tiamat would revile sucha view if they knew) with a chorus of "will you settle for the bull's run...fire of the handgun" the current state of violence and cruelty. He's also bullfightinga symbol of industrailism.
@ThornUvDaath777 Satanism and luciferianism has adopted a great deal of concepts from the old testament of the bible. A good example is "An eye for an eye".
Four Sisters of Mercy songs embedded in one: the bass line of Lucretia, the riff from Dr Jeep, the rhythm from Vision Thing, and of course the chorus from Temple of Love. Other than that, though, a real original.
@jayagmon I just checked those songs out and got on an amazing musical journey. The SOM seems to have influenced a lot of great bands such as for instance Type O negative.
ive often wondered where does she get the shoes later in the vid? were they hiding up in the visor? glove compartment? fell from the sky, but was edited out later?
@arudresa actually they started as a black metal band under the name of "Treblinka", but finally Johan Edlund came to his senses, renamed the band and expanded its musical spectrum to encompass gothic, rock and progressive elements.
