At first I couldn't for the life of me figure out how to use the kazoo; now matter how much I twiddled the little cap on top it just sounded like me humming. Then I figured out that the sheet metal wasn't sealing properly; smushed the kazoo against a desk and hey presto! it works. But plastic sounds better.
