@ThePostaldud3 Yes. Starsiege is a sequel to EarthSiege 2, so the visual styles are similar, although there's some significant differences in gameplay.

Okay, I used to play this game when I was younger and forgot what it was called and went on an epic hunt for it, only found out what it was today, will it work on windows 7 ultimate? And is there anyway I can make the graphics look... good? Is there a newer game with... well basically the same controls and everything? I loved this game

@aduku the mercenaries website has instructions on making Starsiege work with Windows 7. To make the graphics look good, you need a decent openGL-capable graphics card. There hasn't been a newer game like it :(

This was one of the first games I ever played. I was young when it came out, and I remember I used to play online with a couple of mates for several years. I just began revisiting it...graphics aside, this game is easily as good as many games out now.

Oh man this brings me back. This used to be my favorite game when I was young. Too bad there arent any servers to play it on. I've been wanting to play for awhile but no1 is online. Plus now my computer is scrap so Idk if I'll ever be able to play it again...

@IceHawk12341 There are people on usually every night now. You need to set up starsiege to use Eye's master server. Google Starsiege Mercenaries. The proboards website has instructions on how to do it (it's easy :) ). Hope to see you on.

I've been on a nostalgic cick of late ... I wish Clancore didn't give up on Staarsiege: 2845. The ATR seemed promising despite everything. I mean, it's not like the first ATR that Starsiege itself had was that advanced, either.

(And I'm talking about the very first ATR, not the "open beta" one most of us played)

I'm also down about SS:2845. The ATR looked nice, and with feedback could have become a fun game... but after years of development and a functional ATR they just gave up.

No the beta was only multiplayer. The campaign was to come in the final product. You can download it (beta) still even though it is a dead project, but there's no players. You could see how pretty it was though :(

No, no cheating. It took several tries before I was able to come up with a configuration and strategy to beat them (and even then I can't always do it).

No offence but that setup is pretty bad. They die very slowly. Get an EMP and a Blast cannon. (or HBC) Emp will kill shields quickly and HBC will chew up armor. Make those 2 different firing chains. Try to get the UAP on there and put on a shield cap.

I very much like your idea, and agree it would be a much meaner Emancipator.  Remember, however, this is the very first mission and the choice of components is extremely limited. The only weapons available are (normal) blasters, EMPs, small and heavy lasers and autocannon, the lowest-tech missiles (pit vipers, sparrows, aphids), and mines.

Hey are you using a virtual destop or a windows 98 emulator they exest for those who dont know of them

It's WINE which is the open source windows compatibility layer for Linux. I set it up with a virtual desktop because I get full OpenGL acceleration and can still record it with good definition.

This one is a little fuzzy because I converted it myself to flash video before uploading but now that youtube lets us upload Ogg-Theora the vids look very nice.

I know some people use the Windows Movie Maker in Windows XP.  It's a free (as in beer) download from Microsoft. It takes some setting up but they have instructions.

I make my vids in Linux though.
