However, I really never felt comfortable around those kind of people. I grew up responsible , caring but judging others. Thanks to that church, some further education and lots of searching, I became free. Im still very responsible, caring and giving but now im free to realize that this life is all we have. @caseyfaye1 the whole "being gay goes against the idea of natural selection" thing is NOT what i think, so i don't know why you're arguing with me as if i actually believe that. i go to the LGBT pride parade with my sister and her girlfriend in Dallas every year, and i'm a big advocate for human and gay rights, my sister and i go to schools to teach kids about tolerance. everyone wants to sit and complain that things are unequal, but no one actually want to change things themselves.

@caseyfaye1 you CAN get married in Brazil in Rio Grande do Sul. you keep saying that it's so intolerant, but the São Paulo Gay Pride Parade in Brazil is the world's largest LGBT Pride celebration, and a little over one-fourth of Brazil's population is estimated to be gay or bisexual, so it has one of the world's largest gay population. there are protests in EVERY country that tries to have more gay rights

@caseyfaye1 yeah, you always conveniently have a "family member" that has some sort of job that helps your argument, it's just pretty hard to believe you at this point. i know that what you're saying isn't true, my school does a lot of research in this, i go to Rice University, and i'm a graduate student in psychology, so we're the ones that help with the interviews and with finding random samplings of the population, i work with professors that are published in psychology books.

@caseyfaye1 i NEVER said the bible doesn't say Jesus is the way to salvation, because it does. i said that Jesus spread God's word, and it was then the decision of the individual as to whether they would follow God or not. i don't care if you believe or not. that's your decision, and it doesn't affect me in the least, just like me being a Christian does not affect you.

@caseyfaye1 homosexuality being a sin is not the only argument against them. i know someone who is atheist, and he's against homosexuals, because he says it goes against the idea of natural selection. the whole reason behind evolution is that we develop in away that will give us an advantage to reproduce, and homosexuality has absolutely NO advantage for reproduction. that's his argument, and it has absolutely nothing to do with religion, sin, or the bible

@caseyfaye1 i've seen statistics done by actual researchers, not ones posted on the internet. atheists and people who have a religion have the same amount of people that are homophobic percentage-wise. there are far fewer atheists in the world then people who who are religious, but if you look at percentages, there is no significant differences, there are about the same percent of atheist homophobes as any one else

@caseyfaye1 and Latin America does not have the most attacks on homosexuals, that would be african countries. in most african countries it's even illegal just to be gay and is actually punishable by death, or imprisonment if they go easy on them. Christians are not the only people who discriminate agaisnt homosexuals. again, percentage-wise, even atheist have the same amount of homophobe-ratios as Christians and other religions

@caseyfaye1 like it or not, Brazil HAS legalized gay marriage, you can go to Grand Rio in Brazil and get married if you are gay, it's LEGAL. also, Jesus DIDN'T tell people to change and repent. he spread the Word of God, and left it to up people to decide if they would follow it or not, He was not forceful. my sister can love God and Jesus no matter what you say, she doesn't have to give up her faith to please anyone.

this is very sad, but the Westboro Baptist Church is just one cult among hundreds such as atruechurch and many others like that. We know about them because they have gotten media exposure. Fred Phelps is a staunch hardcore Calvinist. Truthfully Calvin was worst because he killed anyone who didn't agree with him. Westboro really lives a consistent theology of Calvinism.

@caseyfaye1 brazil legalized the recognition of same-sex marriage in 2004, they can get married through the justice of the peace, allowing them custody of children, sharing insurance and pensions, and other things heterosexual couples are entitled to. brazil has 300 LGBT organizations. i doubt you've lived in Latin America, because i my parents are from latin american, so i take trips their every summer, and i have family there, and it's not as intolerant as you try to make it out to be

@caseyfaye1 South Africa (the only country in Africa that is mostly Christian) is the only country in Africa to allow gay marriage. France, the United Kingdom, and Germany are considered Christian countries and gay marriage is legal in these countries, so have some other European-Christian nations.

@caseyfaye1 how are you going to say that atheists don't say Christians can't be scientist when it happens to me all of the time? if i had a dollar for every time an atheist has told me that, i'd be rich. many places where gay marriage is illegal aren't even Christian (ex. the middle east, Asian countries, African countries). Mexico Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, Portugal, Costa Rica, Greece, Spain, and Uruguay are overwhelmingly Catholic, all of which have legalized gay marriage.

@caseyfaye1 chemistry is my other major, most chemistry majors i know are atheists. we talk about religion, none of them have ever told me they've been harassed my Christians. if anything it's me that's discriminated against by atheists. they say i'm incapable of being a scientist because i believe in God. atheists are always confrontational about trying to make people feel incompetent for being Christian. i have a 150 IQ, but its not good enough for people i study with because i believe in God

@caseyfaye1 psychology is one of my majors, i know psychologists, none of them say that holy books are the reason for prejudices, it is caused mostly by environmental factors. psychiatrists are different from psychologists, psychiatrists talk about people's problems, psychologists do research and surveys. i've done surveys for my undergraduate projects, and from the ones i've done, Christians, atheists, and people of other religions all have about the same amount of homophobes percentage-wise

@caseyfaye1 my cousin is gay, he has been harassed by people for it, but none of them have ever used the bible to do it, and my sister is a lesbian and she's a big activist at the church we go to, and she's open about it to everyone, and no one has a problem with it, they all love her, so it's not like i don't have first hand experience with atheists or homosexuals. i don't have twitter, i don't need to twitter people who claim to be "true Christians" but don't follow the teachings of Jesus

@caseyfaye1 the Bible is not the reason for prejudices, the way people are raised causes it, and i'm saying this from a psychological stand point, every psychology class that i have ever taken has taught me that. if a person's parents are prejudice, then most likely their children will be as well. if we want prejudices to end, it starts at home. how can you say it's bad to be prejudiced when you're prejudice towards Christians, and generalize them? MOST Christians are open towards homosexuals

@caseyfaye1 i don't ignore "bad parts of the Bible" the Bible doesn't tell people to be malicious. it tells you ways to live your life, and avoid sin. it says that it is not our place to judge because we are not God, it says to follow the teachings of Christ, and so that's what i do. i have NEVER heard any real Christian tell an atheist that they deserve to a family member to die. i don't know what kind of so called "Christians" you talk to, but i've never heard anyone say something like that.

@caseyfaye1 i never said polytheism is invalid, anyone has a right to believe what they want, if they want to be polytheistic, then that's their choice. i never claimed to have the truth, i have said many times that what i believe is MY personal faith. i'm not saying it's the only way, for all i know i could be completely wrong, but that's why it's called faith, there is no certainty, you just have to believe.

@caseyfaye1 no, the bible doesn't say that, it depends on the interpretations, some religions do think people are born with original sin, that's why they have infant baptism, some interpret it as saying that we as humans are born with no sin, but are sinful by nature, and so, we will inevitably sin when presented with the opportunity. if you don't believe the bible, then why do you care that you have to believe in Jesus to be saved? and even if it does say that, so what? God will decide

Pentecostals have "back up" that they are the "true" Christian religion, so do Catholics, Methodists, Baptists, Jehovah's witnesses, they ALL claim to be backed by the Bible, and have Biblical passages to "back it up." Jesus walked among the sinners, the wh0res, the homosexuals. Jesus treated them all equally. Jesus said love one another

@caseyfaye1 verses can help argue the point against abortion, but it's not actually in the bible, and even if it was, it's irrelevant cuz it's not illegal in the U.S. the bible does say to spread the message, but it does not sat to badger people, if anything, what they are doing is turning people away from God. just like Jesus and his disciples spoke about God, but they just informed people and moved on, they did not try to force it on people

@mna1527 God is an unfalsifiable hypothesis. Meaning that there is no way to disprove God. I can, however, disprove the Christian God. There are many stories like the Noah's Ark story that claims that the world was flooded and all the water splashed up from the Earth and made craters on the Moon, which is impossible. There are others like how it says that the Earth is in the center of the universe and that it's flat.

@caseyfaye1 the bible does NOT say that the way to love your neighbor is to warn them, i wanted to make that clear, and also that bible does not even mention abortion, it's mentioned in later church documents, but not the bible, but you DO have a choice, it's legal in every state. i know 3 people who are atheist who go to abortion protests and harass women who go to those clinics because they think it's wrong, it's not just Christians

@OnetruthatisJesus One does not repent because someone begs them to one repents and is done when kindness and acceptence is shown. Jesus himself did not ony forgive those who did things that were terrible but welcome them as well, treating them no different than anyone else. Though what they do is wrong in the eyes of the lord, I am no better, I am a sinner as well. You may think them worse but I do not and will not forsake any of my love ones, so I say again: If I go to hell then so be it.
