I just want to say thank you to this band and MaYan (epica's side project).. They are the most hard working people and the fact that they don't make that much money of this makes me sad, but at the same time, I know that they love what they do and that's why I give them so much respect. I feel like I'll never reach their level of thinking, they're all about doing what you love and oneness on earth. They're wise, intelligent, respectable, and even more then that. I love their music..
These guys know how to write killer music. The instrumentals are awesome. Jansen and Simmone are in perfect harmony. The lyrics are great and pose a great discussion for us. Amazing!
@TheBrotherNature1 I thought 360p and 480 have the same audio quality, just a different video bitrate? (240p is horrible though, especially when listening with heaphones which cost more than 5 bucks. I don't get why anyone still uploads that stuff...)
i bought the album on october the 16th in 2009 ...... and after (nearly) 2 years , this song still is my favourite song ... epica changed my life.... the lyrics of their songs are so true.... thank you epica ,for making the worlds best music.... (i'm from austria so please don't kill me for my bad english xD)
@SatanicPWNage hi,i read the lyrics, but i was confused..1st they where neglecting God and supporting atheism and science, and then they started supporting light which is God yet neglecting atheism, please if you understood the meaning explain it to me,thanks :D
@sharamandarata ...hmm it's hard to describe because my english is not the best but i'll try it. .... I think they want to say that we shouldn't strickly separate religion and science. We should combine it to get new views of our world. ... the song is like a little try to make a world without war... because everybody knows that the most reasons for war are the firm conviction of the religions... combining science and religion would create a world with lesser or no wars. thats my opinion
@SatanicPWNage wow good interpretation,i think what you said is right..and they said "We create the world around us God is every living soul"this means that they believe that god didn't create the world,we did,yet they don't believe in a personal god..so i think that this song supports atheism and not only combining religion with science, nevertheless believing in science only..but i think its a great song, its my best :D..and "cry for the moon" too
@sharamandarata It's mostly saying we're responsible for our actions and their consequences. And many of the light and death references are from the Bardo Thodol, kind of the book of the dead from Tibet.
It's supporting open-midedness and acceptance, while confronting our own beliefs and constatly questionning ourselves.
Also supporting the urgent need for us to stop thinking as a 'me' and start thinking as an us. thus the ''We're not alone, We are all one''
@sharamandarata He never meant to neglect god, but to neglect and abandon religion, which is totally different. You can believe in whatever you want, as long as you genuinly and honestly question it and think about it.
@vampirichild i sometimes have some doubts about religion and the existence of God.but i prefer to illusion my self about an afterlife or heaven, than trying to accept the fact that i will live 70 years and die
@TiagoAssassin Har, I see what you did there, you cunning trickster you!... ;-) It's true though, the whole song is awesome. It'd be impossible to highlight any particular phrase in it.
Is it my imagination, or is 0:22 to 0:53 sampled from a video game? I seem to recall that exact same song in some version of Final Fantasy. (Great song, the intro is just driving me nuts.)
Does jansen really has to sing? Simone as a beautiful voice and then... in the middle of this perfection... her he comes! Spoiling a good music! He should compose and not sing at all! I'm listening to epica for about 3 days, and I've listened to all the songs more them once. Now, I want to by an album. I've created an Excel sheet where I introduce the songs were he sings, and I'm buying the album with less jansen and more simone!
@roviscoyt Seriously? What makes Epica sound so amazing is the combination of Simone's really crystal clear voice with Jansen's screamo parts. With only one or the other; their music wouldn't sound as eerie and mystical and it wouldn't carry as much heaviness to it. Could you seriously imagine Simone singing the "go back" part? With her soprano voice? It'd be like lolwut? Each band member in Epica plays a vital role, change anything and they're not Epica anymore.
I love Epica, and they're easily my all-time favourite band, and I love all of their albums, my favourite being either "The Divine Conspiracy" or "Design Your Universe". Simone Simons is my absolute favourite female singer (of course, Roy Khan is my favourite male one!). :D
my favorite part by far.. so inspiring but at the same time gets you pumped in the gym...... Love this band, first time I heard this song, downloaded all their albums, and they became my favorite band.. this is all i can even listen to now. EPIC
@strych97 Those are some Desert Arabic notes mixed with METAL it sends chills in your spine, I listen only to bands that incloud those in their track. (y)
@strych97 1) MYRATH (Song number 2 Confession) 2) Scorpions (Song The sails of charon) 3) Therion (THe rise of sodom and gomorrah) 4) Sawlegen (Streets Of Agrabah) 5) Pentagrame (1000 in the east land) all those combined you'll find tons of those notes, adn a lot of other bands use it too i just couldn't list them all. :)
@strych97 You've probably heard this song already, but if you like the sort of Middle Eastern sound, check out Fools of Damnation by Epica if you haven't already. =)
Been a while since i first heard this song, and i'm still listening to it, its one of rare songs thats as a great and pleasant complexity in it. I just love it, and nearly all Epica songs are as great as this song is. - From Canada :)
