Dude this is killer! your crazy good with this thing! I want to get into playing one of these for a band with my friends, and ive done some search on Starr labs website, I was wondering if the Z6 s comes with a synth card, or would one have to order it additionaly? Also i was wondering if your new to the ztar and synth, is it hard to learn how to program it to make your own synth sounds, do you need alot of knowledge about music to be able to program it, or is it learnable? Thanks man ^_^
@Wafflestomp69 Thanks so much for your generous comment.
Although you can get a synth card, you're better off using either a hardware synth or a laptop with soft synths. More flexible and the sound will be better....
Even a newbie can learn to program the Ztar. You must read the manual carefully and fully. And a knowledge of the MIDI spec will help. And it IS learnable. But it will take some determination. With that said, I think you'll be OK. Good luck with it!
Actually, I'd recommend the Z7s, Z5 or the Baby Ztar if you're a beginner. While the Z6sp is comprehensive, it may be too complicated to get one's head around if you're just starting out. That said, you could always grow into it. But it's expense makes it a real challenge to stick with. Good luck!
for someone that would be a beginner to a ZTAR would you suggest the ZTar Z7S? if I were to get one I would probably just use for a setup,a korg microkorg, alesis micron and 2 korg electribes,I'm mainly a guitarist that plays Thrash Metal, but the Ztar would help to create a Techno and Thrash Metal Hybrid :)
@ekalb2185 A Ztar Z7s would be fine, even in a beginner situation with your setup. Your "hybrid" would be up to your creativity with MIDI setups and settings
The only "guitar track" on this tune is an acoustic rhythm guitar which is a Roland VG-8 modeled acoustic. Otherwise, all parts are synth, bass and drum sounds triggered by the Ztar. So if you're referring to the lead melody, that's the Ztar triggering a Logic ES2 patch.
As I've said before, the "acoustic guitar" on the studio recording of "Warp Drive" was played from a Fender Stratocaster with a Roland GK-2a pickup thru a Roland VG8EX V-Guitar Processor. All other parts were triggered by the Starr Labs Ztar. The acoustic on this video is triggered as an Ableton Live Clip.
Holy Shit, My brain hole was just made a little Stronger by the Ztar of Power

Are Ztars available in the UK? And how do you power and get a sound out of them?
