What we all see in most pitchers from the major league level right on down through their minor systems into college, high school and our youth levels is that the front foot moves first and leads the leg away from the rubber, and just kills the initial hip movement which should first lead the way away from the rubber, not the front foot & leg, as the great one " MR.TED WILLIAMS" taught us many moons ago, learn to "LET THE HIPS LEAD THE WAY." whether it be hitting or pitching.
Instead of just the arm & all other body parts involved in the throwing movement.
For the body to do the work instead of the arm the body must move sideways from the rubber to front foot touch down, this sequence must be executed at the proper time in proper sequence in a sequenced, chain reactive hip to shoulder separation movement initiated at front foot touch down.
proper body movements will alleviate the possibility of chronic sore arms & surgeries.
Cliff Lee has changed his body movements for the good since this video was taken.
He now uses his body in it's hip first, not the foot & leg first movement from the rubber, in a totally sideways/closed body position to front foot touch down , then into the body's hip rotation first, creating hip to shoulder separation at front foot touch down I term this as a body's sequenced chained reactive movement, which allows the body to absorb the brunt of the throwing movement.
I love Lee's mechanics. Great range of motion and stays closed until the last second. He really uses his entire body...legs, hips, shoulders, arm and hand!
Some of the best pitchers are the ones that hide the ball until the very last second, giving good hitters a full second or so less of eye contact on the ball, leaving them with 15-30% less time to react.
In watching Cliff and Felix, they both perform that trick very well. When you look at older footage of Felix, you'll notice his pitches came around more and visible, not they are hidden a lot more until his arm is infront. Similar to Cliff.
Well gee, I do apologize that a consumer-grade high speed camera in the 300 level of a MLB ballpark where tripods are banned can't give you the crystal clear resolution you desire.
LEE Always be happy =)

he does a great job of bending his back and getting the release out in front of him.

This comment has received too many negative votes show
This Is terrible.
Figure out where the resolution sweet spot is for highspeed on this camera. It's definitely not 420fps.
Learn how to use post production to speed up the parts that are unnecessarily slowed down (the first fucking half of the video?!).
Find something more interesting to point it at.
