  • we loved your music, Kelly.

YOU were the best of ELO--not good without you.

the best bass player in the world

  • Still missing you Kelly. Your music is the best.

  • Amazing...I never knew Kelly had a solo career until now...my friend is here with me and had me look this up. HE knew it and I didn't...guess you learn something new every day! This song does have that ELO vibe to it.

  • So when are they actually going to remaster this album the right way and put it on CD? The new one coming out on the 30th is really poor mastering as is the one that came out in 2001. I would like to hear this digitally remastered.

  • Been looking for an AMV for this song - but this is just as good!

  • RIP

  • Kelly, the best go every time in first. Without Kelly was´nt ELO no more ELO. Now you are gone, it´s so bad. Your was a very good singer and also a very good mate. We will never forgett you. R.I.P

  • Thank you, Kelly!

    You were amazing!

Had a blast together with you.

Your person/music will be deeply missed.

My thoughts go out to the fam.

    R.I.P. good old friend...

    /Peter Norstedt, Norway

  • I will remember You... Thank you my old friend...

  • I had always hoped that JL and the boys would one day put their petty differences aside and reform the definative line-up. Fat fucking chance now. Senseless waste.

  • Sad But true, Trap...Sad but true. And 2008 would've been the perfect opportunity for a reformation of the classic ELO lineup while Kelly was still among us, as it marked the 30th anniversary of The Out Of The Blue tour...Imagine if they would've reformed and toured, playing essentially the setlist fro that '78 tour plus. But such is the reality that with Kelly now gone, there's no chance. And his still-living Predecessor, Mike DeAlbaquerqe, couldn't fill Kelly's shoes if he tried!

  • I'm also very sad. No - I cannot believe. He isn't dead - he still lives in our hearts. Thanks for all this beautiful music and what we all remember. RIP Kelly.

  • for all the dreams you've fulfilled and for the pleasure I've have to listen to your music rest in peace Kelly. All the fans never forget you...

  • Sorry it was on Tuesday he passed away.

Kelly Groucott 08.07.1945 ~ 17.02.2009 Thanks for all the music Kelly

  • The BBC web site says he passed away on Tuesday the 19th of February. The silly sods.

  • Yes last night, Worcester Royal Hospital Heart Attack . :(

  • RIP KELLY X

  • RIP? He isn't dead is he?

  • Did Kelly Groucutt have another band called Player? I came across the single 'Am I A Dreamer' in a record shop but it was credited to Player, and I listened to it and the singer on the a-side sounded a lot like Kelly.

  • Yeah, he had a band called Player and released this song and included it on his solo album too.

  • Groucutt deserves respect because he was in ELO for many years, but this stuff proves that ELO is all about Jeff Lynne. Sorry Kell 'ol sod.

  • i much prefer this version than the remastered one! the drumming (lots of extra fills and all that) and vocals seem much more powerful on this version!

    thanks for posting! :-)

  • Verrrrry ELO! Great!

  • I cant beleive that someone else out there owns this album.

I have managed to misplace my priceless copy but I seem to remember a quite nice song about a man who goes to war and writes letters to his mum.

Finally the man dies at war. Even though Kelly is not the best singer in the world I would love to hear that particular song again.

  • That sounds like the song Dear Mama. Keep an eye on my uploads and it will appear soon.

  • @punditpete I order the CD 20 seconds ago on amazon. :)

  • Kelly's lead singing always drive me to tears

too. Because it is so awful!!! Kelly is so

out of his element. He actually wonders why

ELO Part Deux and The Chokestra albums don't

    sell!!!

  • Actually if you have a look on Amazon you'll see that their albums are more popular than ELO II, BOP, OTTD and No Answer.

  • He's not that bad. I really do like this song actually.. and his harmonies with Jeff Lynne were just fantastic; makes me wish things had gone differently between them. Not that Jeff hasn't had an amazing career since Kelly left ELO, but BoP could've had a whole different sound with just Kelly's added vocals.

  • Jeff sacked Kelly soon after this album. Speaks volumes really.

  • Hmm. I don't think it was straight away after. This album was ready for release before the Time tour in 81 and Kelly then went to to record Secret Messages with ELO which was released in 83.

  • Half of Secret Messages - he was booted mid-project.

  • I don't think this album is so bad, it's just that the rest of the album is terrible.

  • I mean *this song

  • This song is beautiful, allmost drives me to tears...allmost! LOL!!

  • His voice is beautiful...great song!

  • Thanks!!! I really enjoy this song!!!
