What he fails to recognize is that the only difference between the "other ways of relieving pain" and Marijuana is that the "other ways" are legal and Marijuana is not.
Other than that, they are no different. They all result in an altered state of consciousness. As a matter of fact, a lot of legal pain-killers are far worse for you and inebriate you far more than cannabis does.
We need to get over this ignorant stigma against weed in this country. It's outmoded, outdated and wrong.

Well sure there's other ways to handle pain...I mean, you can buy expensive prescriptions, which have an overdose potential, then you gotta get the other pills that counter-act the negative effects of the first set of scripts, then you're pill-popping round the clock just trying to manage pain. Or...you could smoke some weed and feel much better. Less expensive, no major side-effects, no overdose potential...sounds pretty good to me.

not getting my vote. these sythetics mccains talking which he has called "marinol" IS good for nausea however its not good for anxiety, and for many people it is NOT GOOD FOR NAUSEA. teh plant is most effect and efficient.

I'm not saying Cannabis is completely benign or for children (unless authorized by a doctor) but if it wasn't a relatively safe and effective medication do you think The American College of Physicians, 124,000 strong, would release a position paper endorsing medical marijuana in Feb 08.

There may be other ways to relieve pain... but for some people Marijuana is the best. And to deny people, or punish people for relieving pain... is absurd.
