If you breathe ONLY through your mouth while eating wasabi...no matter the amount, it won't burn your nose at all! Wasabi is not spicy like hot peppers, it doesn't contain capsaicin!! it really doesn't burn the tongue much at all, but the unique compounds found in wasabi are volatile and react when chewed, and the "fumes" will travel up into your nose from the back of your mouth if you breath out through your nose! Try it, eat some while breathing in and out of the mouth, and it won't burn!
