@ngyafero as soon as i heard that riff start in my mind exploded....that type of riffing helps make summoning what they are for sure, its actually a pretty tricky riff because of the feeling behind it, cant just play it and expect it to sound good!

There music takes all the beautiful untouched parts of nature (and middle earths) and bring it to you in a sound that can only be described as romantically powerful music! I can't even compare any band to them, because they stand alone. I love summoning more than anything when life just is. Thanks Silineus and Protector for a wonderful gift of sound /,,/

Dimmu is black metal, but so is this, and bands like Elffor, Darkspace, Berzum, etc etc. there are many styles of black metal. AND the tradition of black metal is to come out with lower/cheap production.. heard to have been started by the pioneers of black metal (i dont know them). Imo the low production gives it a unique sound and makes it more brutal. Oh and btw go to metal archives [dot] com and search the bands you listen to, if they're not listed they're not metal. simple as that.

This is not black metal, it's epic folk metal. As I Lay Dying is a metal band, but they're pretty lame. Dimmu Borgir is (symphonic) black metal for the most part. You must not have been listening to metal all that long. After a while and with some research and an open mind you'll be able to see the differences between subgenres with relative ease.

generes anyways are not only based on the sound of a band but also on their history and influences. sort of like plants, they are placed in species and generes depending on their genetic information.

Amazing song,i wish more songs where like this by Summoning,,,another amazing atmospheric black metal band "Sear Bliss" have brass instuments also but when i listen to amazing songs like this and (Kor) from Dol Guldur i wish Sear Bliss playd there trumpets more in this fashion,,at first i was like brass instuments??? but after listening to Sear Bliss's music,,,fucking amazing,,,it does add a powerfull atmosphere to the music if playd right like on this song,
