DOA's system is a good combination of accessability and competitive play. But it isn't Street Fighter. 3 Buttons vs 6 Buttons, game tempo and fireballs are a big factor for Street Fighter as well.

They took the ULTIMATE OPPURTUNITY to reinvigorate the series & made a street fighter 2/thrid strike remix??!! Im astonished. Ive waited to see Ryu's teenage pupil and Ken's son fighting eachother. What the hell ever happened to Darkstalkers? Think about how many times they reused that same damn Morrigan Darkstalkers 1 Sprite over and over again without giving it any touch up. Its sad SNK did that SNK Chaos game and made all they're characters look better then Capcom has done in years.
To be fair, when SNK did SvCC, they reshaded a number of the CAPCOM characters and resized them. Most notably, Hugo was reshaded from his SF3 version.
Capcom didn't want to do the game? I'm pretty sure that they know that people still play their fighting games like crazy. Hell, they even have big tournaments. What happened to the Capcom I used to know, the one that wouldn't mess with a good thing like the Mega Man series and Resident Evil? They didn't want to do another numbered game. They were content to spit out Vs. games and add new characters or whatever. I like the idea of this game. I don't like that they say its gonna be slower, but I'll have to wait and see how that works out.
I didnt' say that they messed up Resident Evil. I said that capcom hasn't made any crazy changes to it. RE4 was a big change in the series but people just knew it would do well which it did. SF4 is taking a huge risk, like they said in the video, I'm both excited and worried about this game.

The beauty of SF2 was that it was easy to learn, but difficult to master. A noob could play it for a week, and come back and you'd have to be on your game to keep him off ya. Timing was always the key. Hope they keep the simple but complicated aspect.

i already know that we all prefer the oldstyle 2D, not the 3D style at least not for street fighter. I love the new drawing style but 3D isnt gona make the game better. bring story modes CINEMA STYLE. and maybe StreetF4 may leave a mark. Cap VS SNK 2, Marvel vs Cap 2, capcom Jam ( just the drawings) style were good.. and bring footage of the characters LIKE IN TEKKEN WHAT EVER IS DONE!!! MAKE THE GAME GOOD..
The only point where the game is value, is the presentation of special, where the screen is in slow motion for the assessment, it was the rest has nothing to others.
Producers, do something with the video, and abuse of Animation, only then you will reach somewhere with this game.
The other guy's right. If it's gonna take up to Christmas 2009 to get SF4 all right, then they have to give it that time. They don't need to rush SF4. They just have to release Turbo HD Remix in the arcade, first.
These guys were making sense until they said SC was more technical. Thats retarded. If you mis time in soul caliber you can get wiped out prity quick but its also alot easier in soul caliber to counter and to 75% damage in a couple seconds. In street fight you can't counter as easy (excluding SF3 of course, SF2 Turbo forever!) and therefore one single mistake against a big hitter(say a vicious Ken dragon punch) is pivotal in most cases. Against a seasoned SF2 player its very very hard to recover

Not only that but name one thing technically good about dead or alive. After playing DOA for five minutes I could beat anyone at it no matter how good they thought they were. Know why? The game is trash, broken, and easily exploitable. It's hardly a fighting game. I dislike Tekken somewhat but I still respect it as a fighting game. DOA gets no such respect, but it's fun to mess around with every once in a while.
... On another note, If they add an online World Tournament to Street Fighter 4, you all better get it. How can you not turn down the chance to be the world champion of a classic like Street Fighter?

Street fighter is and always will be an amazing game, but I must disagree with poptarts Tekken sucks so bad, I think its the worst fighting game ever, the gameplay is so slow, its like pressing the button 10 times to do 2 kicks or punches, thats why I play Dead or Alive its a fast pace fighting game and 100 times better than tekken.

I think the thought process behind the creators were, "We can't make the game any more competitive than 3rd Strike, so let's open the franchise to more gamers."
Making the game more relaxed, casual, 3D and online will open up the franchise to even more gamers.. Maybe even lead some over to 3rd strike or other competitive fighters.
Thats a fair call, and I think its good reasoning, but if you look at the trends in video games, particularly console games which I'm lead to believe this is for (I may be wrong) over the last five years they are all of them "flash in the pan" and overnight wonders. As someone who's been playing streetfighter for nearly 20 years I feel that the game should have been made for true longstanding fans who have basically financed Capcom with all our pocket money.
Instead we have a tidied up looking version of a game that most of us didn't like in the first place. I feel its a sell out. It should have been 2D. Where is the love?
One of my friends said the team behind Streetfighter (Or maybe it was just Capcom commenting) had a conference where they discussed the reasoning behind moving to 3D. Their reasoning was that they have reached the "limit" to what they could do with that art style. Although, it sounds to me like they just got tired of 2D, and wanted something fresh to re-inspire the team (And probably to get more money).
Its going to be in what is basicly 2.5D and that will make it play like a classic with a 3D look.(and I'm sure you already know this) Just like in all the ther street fighter games and there new realese's you just have to learn the new animations of the sprites. I personlly think this will be a fun game but it I really can't say anything until it comes out cause sometimes I feel like I'm just going to go bac into playing SF3:3rd Strike
This game is still great news! It'll never shake the earth like SF 2 did but at least it will give us older gamers a blast of nosalgia with todays technology. For the kids it'll be a chance to see what all the fuss is about without having to try out an antiquaited arcade game.
Even if this version ends up being a bit dodgy capcom can always tweak the formula and release a superior update.

i already know that we all prefer the oldstyle 2D, not the 3D style at least not for street fighter. I love the new drawing style but 3D isnt gona make the game better. bring story modes CINEMA STYLE. and maybe StreetF4 may leave a mark. Cap VS SNK 2, Marvel vs Cap 2, capcom Jam ( just the drawings) style were good.. and bring footage of the characters LIKE IN TEKKEN WHAT EVER IS DONE!!! MAKE THE GAME GOOD..

I think if this game leave this way, it will be a tremendous shit.
1. Is very similar to street ex2
2. If the producers had the minimum of will to do something revolutionary, would the game in the form of video that presented, and not the 3d poor.
3. Very slow, the game would have to be at least the speed of its predecessor.

The only point where the game is value, is the presentation of special, where the screen is in slow motion for the assessment, it was the rest has nothing to others.
Producers, do something with the video, and abuse of Animation, only then you will reach somewhere with this game.

These guys were making sense until they said SC was more technical. Thats retarded. If you mis time in soul caliber you can get wiped out prity quick but its also alot easier in soul caliber to counter and to 75% damage in a couple seconds. In street fight you can't counter as easy (excluding SF3 of course, SF2 Turbo forever!) and therefore one single mistake against a big hitter(say a vicious Ken dragon punch) is pivotal in most cases. Against a seasoned SF2 player its very very hard to recover

Not only that but name one thing technically good about dead or alive. After playing DOA for five minutes I could beat anyone at it no matter how good they thought they were. Know why? The game is trash, broken, and easily exploitable. It's hardly a fighting game. I dislike Tekken somewhat but I still respect it as a fighting game. DOA gets no such respect, but it's fun to mess around with every once in a while.

Street fighter is and always will be an amazing game, but I must disagree with poptarts Tekken sucks so bad, I think its the worst fighting game ever, the gameplay is so slow, its like pressing the button 10 times to do 2 kicks or punches, thats why I play Dead or Alive its a fast pace fighting game and 100 times better than tekken.

Hmm... As far as speculation, i jus hope they make Ken feel dif. from Ryu. I kno they practice tha same art, but they each have their own style, or version if u may. I'd like Ryu to feel slower and deal more damage, and Ken to feel more agile and have more flair. But to tha nay-sayers... Did u like SF2? SFA? SF3? I think the thought process behind the creators were, "We can't make the game any more competitive than 3rd Strike, so let's open the franchise to more gamers."
Making the game more relaxed, casual, 3D and online will open up the franchise to even more gamers.. Maybe even lead some over to 3rd strike or other competitive fighters.

Thats a fair call, and I think its good reasoning, but if you look at the trends in video games, particularly console games which I'm lead to believe this is for (I may be wrong) over the last five years they are all of them "flash in the pan" and overnight wonders. As someone who's been playing streetfighter for nearly 20 years I feel that the game should have been made for true longstanding fans who have basically financed Capcom with all our pocket money.

One of my friends said the team behind Streetfighter (Or maybe it was just Capcom commenting) had a conference where they discussed the reasoning behind moving to 3D. Their reasoning was that they have reached the "limit" to what they could do with that art style. Although, it sounds to me like they just got tired of 2D, and wanted something fresh to re-inspire the team (And probably to get more money).

Its going to be in what is basicly 2.5D and that will make it play like a classic with a 3D look.(and I'm sure you already know this) Just like in all the ther street fighter games and there new realese's you just have to learn the new animations of the sprites. I personlly think this will be a fun game but it I really can't say anything until it comes out cause sometimes I feel like I'm just going to go bac into playing SF3:3rd Strike

This game is still great news! It'll never shake the earth like SF 2 did but at least it will give us older gamers a blast of nosalgia with todays technology. For the kids it'll be a chance to see what all the fuss is about without having to try out an antiquaited arcade game.
Even if this version ends up being a bit dodgy capcom can always tweak the formula and release a superior update.

This game looks weird. When 3 came out, even though it had NO old characters, I thought it was still amazing looking. This looks like a downgrade. Hopefully the game isn't going to overdo it with features.
