  • ahhh we still sing in the london regimen :')

  • I have to sing this in history tomorrow. Now I know how to sing it. Dang it.

  • smile smile smile

  • These things are not pro war. If anything they remind us of how bad war is and how tough it was for the people who lived through them. Get a grip on yourself.

  • THIS SONG IS IRONY

  • did eliza doolittle kinda copy this song for pack up?????

  • They used to play this on station WOR New York every weekday morning and I thought what a terrific tune to start the day with.

  • I think its terrible the pro war propaganda your spewing on your channel here. Despicable as it gets.

  • @DELPHIIII it's more historical evidence. Quit getting so wound up. History's not exactly rosy so just appreciate it for its time

  • @DELPHIIII This isn't so much pro-war as it is pro-soldier. The song is basically telling the soldier, in a nice, British kind of way, to suck it up and grow a pair. As long as there are men, there will be wars.

  • i like this song it is quite jolly the British war songs are jolly

  • This is a great song. One of the few Canadian Marching songs we have. It is very up-lifting.

    Thank you for uploading this.

  • @Alex911TheCanadian Im sorry, but what do you mean "canadian"? Im pretty sure this song is British

  • @Vortez137 Yes. It is British. Canada uses mainly British marching songs.

  • @Vortez137 it is a British militarty song sung in ww1 but Alex has said it is a British song.

  • The last WWI US Veteran died today. RIP!

  • This will be one of many songs played at my funeral.

  • the guy who wrote this committed suicide

  • Yep they sacrificed there lives for Brittain....and look at the shit hole now!....the true brit is abused by forieghners because of selfish polititions .......who are not living amonst it! I hate the UK government!!!!

  • you pubecent dick/ you fight on ps3 these lads your age fought the western front man up

  • this song gets stuck in my head. all the time/

  • If WWIII happens and I go out there, I'll sing this everyday.

  • @startug if world war 3 happens it'll be over before you get sing the first line

  • @redredreds100 You mean, "Over there, over there. Send the word, send the word over there. THAT THE YANKS ARE COMING..."

  • @redredreds100: World war three started in 1948 and has never stopped since! I took part in four wars in over 25 years of it!

  • I receited this song in primary school for a project into ww1 and I must say this brung back some enthralling memories with a hard thump as I can remember exactly what i was doing and thinking at those points in the song.

I used to sing this as well when I felt down and still do it never leaves thanks for uploading :)

  • will everybody please stop whaling over the tragedy of WW1?! It was traumatic - we get all this, thank you - but you don't need to empty your sorrow on youtube. Why not focus on modern day tragedies? hmmm? I'm sure there are plenty..... just saying.

  • pack up your troubles and kill yourself

  • @twicon what the hell?

  • Cool song,it is kinda calming to listen to it

  • Love the song it’s a great spiritual! I’m anti war and proud to be so, I suspect the idiots who claim war is necessary are commenting from an ignorant unenlightened viewpoint of war and would turn conscientious objector in the blink of an eye when

facing the likes of the nazi army who were merely defending their flourishing nation when the rest of the worlds population were dying of hunger

  • It's pack *ALL* your troubles. Not pack *UP* your troubles.

  • The words are: Pack ALL your troubles. A minnor point, but perhaps it meant something then? Bless em all ! Both my grandparents loss bothers in the Great War.

  • They totally messed up this song for that laptop commercial

  • my great uncle or something was part of the lost battalion he lived until the 1950's and another relative was one of the last civil war vets

  • i have a great uncle in the ground in Le Boeufs (hope i spelt that right) Gaurds Cemetry, he was killed on the Somme in September 1916. so sad that so many men were sent to their deaths for nothing!!!

  • i think it's ok to defend your country in a war, but to start a war is a very wrong thing to do.

  • I hate that dell commercial that plays an annoying version of this song

  • @eli85s

every time it comes on I want to blow up my television.

  • @iluvyouwyatt i already have, i am now suing the dell corp.

  • Heros thats all i can say of all you little brats that are against war the americans saved most of your asses without us most of you would be speaking a different language or under communism!

  • Jesus Christ, guys! Quit with your pointless fucking arguing over 'omg this song is pro-war' or not. Deal. With. It.

Think about the poor souls here in the U.K who have lost sons, and husbands, and wives, and sisters, and brothers. And think about the people in pakistan, and Iraq, and Afghanistan, who are right in the middle of the war.

    Stop being so selfish.

  • @1bookfan1 Amen to that. Its good to see someone else shares my view that people seem to be caught up in the whole "pro war" - "anti war" thing and forget just how much damage they actually cause...

  • @zenetharc

Yes! And then people seem to think that. . . oh, I dunno, lets use America/U.K as an example.

Everyone gets seriously mad over who 'helped' Britain win World War Two. Like, does it even matter that much? What mattered was that is was a World War, so that meant that the main world powers were involved, U.S.A and Britain included.

People need to get a grip and tae a look at how many people die every day without them knowing. I think an awful lot of people share your views- look hard.

  • You missed the third verse! Ther'es a third verse!

  • What the fuck is wrong with you people, its a fucking song why the fuck do you have to get into so much detail over it and end up argueing. -.-

  • how did i go form listing to eminem to this?! pot does weird things to u

  • these men were brave and fought for their lives. I respect them for that. thank you to all my relations kiled (there were a few in WW1, unsurprisingly). an uncle of my Gramma was shot after the armistice, bloody sniper got him. I might've seen his picture as a kid, but I am not sure.

  • Happy 4th of July America! God bless these men!

  • @startug the ironic thing about that comment is that this is a british marching song.

  • @iceman9786 Oh it is? I didn't know that!

  • @startug umm america didnt do shit in ww1

  • @nomnom1302 Old post you lost.

  • @startug you touch yourself at night

  • @nomnom1302 Go away. I come to enjoy a song, not be sexually harassed by you.

  • @startug you sexually harass yourself and you're adopted.

  • I think that this picture shows a battallion of the Lancashire Fusiliers in the sunken road at Beaumont Hamel, just before going over the top on 1st July 1916 (The Somme). Most of these men were casualties within half an hour of this being taken! Quite a thought!

  • Ever live under a dictator, had your family taken away or chased by the secret police? Because guys like this step up when duty calls. thats why we live in a free society, the greatest in the world. So whiners like you can sit around and criticize.

you don't like it? get the fuck out. go to fucking cuba and smoke yourself a green cigar and take michael moore with you.

  • My Great-Grandad rests in France not far from Vimy...He will never be forgotten and is never far from thought.

  • Dude the may not have fought but they did help! When my grandma was 12 she was working in a bomb factory! Yes in Canada! Without the helping women we would have lost thenwar

  • Is this a British song or American?

  • British, George Henry Powell wrote and sung the lyrics. It was also voted most optimistic song ever written.

  • @enaj78 british,

the easiest way to tell is the accent and the word ''fag'' meaning cigarette as in america it means homosexual person.

i think that was the case back then anyway

  • Notice that the original word is ALL your troubles not UP. I wonder why it's changed over the years.

  • I sang a few old war soongs with a group of friends at a small evening we put on for our little villages primrose day care center for the elderly, when we sang this song, i have still to this day felt that overwhelming sence of pride and honor, there were around 30 men and women at the event and i remind myself every day how greatful and happy they were that youth still have respect for not only those who died but for those who were left widowed. i love this song :) Thanks

  • For what it's worth, all who died: Thank you.

  • My, this takes me back. Grand lad, Grand.

  • German?

  • i had to sing this in class!!! OMG! its a coo song!

  • Thanks for posting this song, itsongs like this and 'There'll always be an england' that give people that lift that they need.

    5 Stars

  • Wondered how long it'd take you to find this song lad ;)

  • oh not long fella

  • I LOVE this song, Where can I get it?

  • our History Teacher sang this song to us ;)

    it was rather interesting

  • heads up high my bonnie lads

in years to come people will remember us with pride in their hearts

now lets go and get these hun bastards

  • Nice song. Thank you for posting it.

  • Irony: The man who wrote the music to this song committed suicide.

  • @AeroCooper1 He probably did it on purpose :P

  • Thanks Mike for sharing! 5* song Yes we need such memories and such songs as mood boosters, for the young generation too - not loudness of the music but the words of the songs are important.

  • these men, had the worst time, the trenches full of mud and water, the gasses, the obvious stench of death, no human should ever be subjected to this, but sadly they are, god bless every poor man and woman, whose life was wasted, because of stupid politicians.

  • agreed.

  • @DecimusAquila I think it's a bit extreme to say that, "Whoes life[s] [were] wasted". Would you perfer to live under German rule right now?

  • Comment removed

  • @NorthernerMatty123 I didn't say specificely "men and women" who lost their lives FIGHTING,, I said WASTED, women were driving ambulances, or woking in factoriies, hospitals, they still lost thier lives, they may not have been charging with guns, but they were fighting, and lost their lives

  • @redredreds100 the germans called them the lions led by monkeys/donkeys

  • @redredreds100

It wasn't JUST politicians. Many things caused WW1. The death of Franz Ferdinand the first. Bloody hell, politicians seemed to be blamed for most things today.

  • Comment removed

  • @redredreds100 the politicians were heros and the people that died . died for a cause

  • Comment removed

  • @redredreds100 Don't forget being told to get up and walk towards machineguns. No protection, no armour of any kind.

    THAT is true bravery.

  • @redredreds100 god bless them and what they went through, yeah, but if it wasnt for those men who fought and died, and the "stupid politicians", you might not be here today, and you sure as hell wouldn't be typing in english!

  • @Vanammonde you are looking at it wrong, politicians in your dumb eyes, may have worked against the Germans, but it was German politicians who ultimately decided to go to war, what was hitler???? a politician, does not matter the language they speak, it's politicians that invade countries, as i say STUPID POLITICIANS, how many soldiers have died in Iraq??? because the mother lode of stupid politicians, decided to invade?? I don't recall a bunch of regular Americans saying "let's invade Iraq"

  • @redredreds100 the fact that you consider hitler a politician is beyond me, i mean, you actually consider him a LEADER of a country? a bit disgusting if you ask me. and since when were we talking about iraq? i think you must downs or something boy, coz you dont know what ur talking about

  • @Vanammonde are you for real??? hitler, was a politician, he was also a leader of germany, I don't consider him a leader, it's a fact, it's fact, that all wars, are started at government levels, look at your dumb ass own country, you invaded, Grenada, Vietnam, N. Korea, Iraq, and who was it, that decided on that, the government and politicians. Please stop commenting, as you really are an idiot, you wrote "I Think you must be downs or something" not sure what language that omes from.

  • @redredreds100 well said!

  • @Brucy6666 thank you,

  • And today they look for trouble with knives just for fun!.yer OK

  • How I love songs like these - they are positive psychology at its finest. Your thoughts influence your life. Listening to songs like this are mood boosters and today's generation needs inspiration like this. Bravo, Decimus.

  • When you think about what troubles those guys 'packed up in their old kit bags' it makes your own problems seem completely insignificant. Good to put perspective on things sometimes

  • i think each and everyone of us has sung this song at some time or other and its a long way to tippary they are the 2 well known songs from the war good choice thanks.

  • TRADITIONAL SONG!

  • My grandfather taught me this song when I was about 3.

  • Who sings on this recording?

  • I think it's Edward Hamilton, recorded in 1917

  • I think it's Edward Hamilton, 1917

  • This song reminds me that even though everybody has different beliefs, ideas, and ways, we can all live together in happiness and harmony, we just have to smile!

    :) :) :) :) :) :) :) ;) :) :) :)

  • we were singing this on a school trip on the coach, brilliant song (Y)

  • A great song -- thanks for posting!

  • well i whent on a school trip lieton to this i like it

  • Great Song

  • RIP bill stone... the last british servicemen who saw action in both world wars

thanks for posting, time we had a patriotic song that sends shivers down your spine :)

  • You know, ever time I hear this song, it makes me forget about all the horribleness in the world and just focus on the happy things that matter. This song will always hold a dear place in my heart.

  • Brilliant Song...Had To Do A Rememberance Assembly In School And We Had To Sing This...I Love It!!! Proud Of Our Men.

  • To britishclub and gillhill:

Thats not why I posted this song, it was meant to be completly innocent. You can interpret this song any way you want but I told you the reason I posted this song so don't question my intentions. I have always been anti war, if you don't belive me you can check my profile.

  • The brave young 17 year old kids and some as young as 12 marched into france singing this song they believed their country needed them . Mr spandou met most of them of the boat and gave them a early night .War is hell its a Fucking disgrace letting kids sing these songs before the teachers explain what they mean

  • people who are anti war are just spoiled rotten little brats. the people who fight for you are keepin ur butt safe! if it wasnt for war, we'd all be speaking german in america! we probably wouldnt even have america! u would be sleeping in a ditch somewhere barely being fed! do some research, jerk. XP

  • Actually I am against the Iraq war because it's being fought for isreal rather then the U.S. but my point was that this was not meant to be a political video.

  • @DecimusAquila if it wasnt for the us then we wouldnt be in iraq in the first place, because when russia was at war with them the US supplied the fucking paks out of spite

  • @DecimusAquila Actually it's being fought because people can't give up their gas guzling means of transportation, Stick to facts and keep anti semitism out of it.

  • @DecimusAquila What the hell is this mleiws111 on? Anti war people aren't spoilt brats, Unless of course you plan on calling the entire UN spoilt brats?

    Nelson Mandela, a brat?

    Honest Abe, a brat?

Something tells me it is you who needs research. Just because people don't share your views doesn't mean you should jump down their throats.

P.S. It was Us British that stopped you all being germans. Remember that next time.

  • wars shite which ever way you look at it, There are no winners ( PTE M A WILLIAMS GlOUCESTERSHIRE REGIMEMT)

  • Yeap, mleiws111. Or UK English (1812). Or Japanese. Or French (French and Indian). Or Spanish (Spanish American War). Or Russian (if the Cold War had actually become a war).

  • @mleiws111

Being Anti-war doesn't necessarily mean that your ungreatful, I thank and respect every single serviceman that has given their lives for my freedom regardless of their nationility. And you know what else? I'm anti-war too. Don't just jump to conclusions.

  • Ok name one war were the germans were planning to invade the US. Is that really what you learn in school? They weren't even planning a war with brittain...

  • Zimmerman note, Germany promised Mexico territory in the U.S.

  • @mleiws111. For the love of God, if it wasn't for war, Hitler wouldn't have been elected as leader of Germany. so the war wouldn't have happened in the first place. So of course you wouldn't be speaking german. think it through.

  • @mleiws111 There is a difference between being anti-war and being a pacifist. I'm sure most people, especially those that have experienced it first hand, would agree that war is a terrible, terrible thing. This is not the same as saying that no one should ever fight for anything, only that war should be a last resort and avoided wherever possible.

It goes without saying that an individual should fight for his own freedom and for the safety of his loved ones. That's human nature.

  • @mleiws111 But the wars create a never ending spirial that puts us in permanent danger.

In fact wars such as the war in Iraq has put innocent people with nothing to do with the conflict in danger who were not before.

Not saying war is good or bad, but I'm saying "They Protect you so it's okay." is a flawed piece of denfese

  • @mleiws111 I am anti-war; but i AM NOT a spoiled brat. Some ppl just like the idea of not having to listen to horror stories of the war every day of the week :-/ and yes, i agree the people that do fight keep some ppl safe, but it was also their choice to join the army so i have never believed they should be glorified for it

  • @mleiws111 Unfortunately it now apppears that when i send me children to school they'll be in a minority with english as a first language. Even though most of the kids in their class will be british born, they will be raised as hindi, Muslim or whatever. Our green and pleasant land protected by the few has been handed to many less derserving courtesy of cowardly leadership.

  • @blueluny I live in Toronto, Canada, at christmas time, they don't say "merry christmas, it has t be "happy holidays" to include all people, and no schools are allowed to put up a tree, as it may offend other races, that, makes even the most tolerant of people racist, it's a scandal, that the people of this land are to be discriminated against, just to appease the immigrants.

  • another song that we used to sing in primary school. Great Song!

  • same here.

  • love this song
