I couldnt get on with mine, I hated the feel of the switches and it was always covered in smudges and fingerprints .It was nice for typing with, but just didnt feel right for gaming and thats what I bought it for. I put it on E.Bay, sold it and replced it with a Steelseries 7G. The 7G doesnt feel so nice to type with but its in a different league for playing first person shooters.I would say if you are into WOW and games like, that then the Razor is sweet, but for fast action FPS's go for the 7G
I'm typing on a Razer Black Widow...just Black Widow...not Ultimate...I don't need the lights. But as far as gaming goes I think I'm actually slower...I don't game a lot and actually bought it because it was actually a great price as far as mechanical keyboards go. Typing essays with it is very nice...it takes some getting used to as some of the keys near the top are shifted to the right a bit...my average typing speed as increased by 30wpm to 120. Great keyboard for the price.
Its funny cause i'm typing this on a BlackWidow Ultimate I accidently got cause they messed up, I ordered a Lycosa and I recieved a Blackwidow UIltimate :D
no nkro, disgusting dust & finger print magnet piano finish, not brown switches, and terrbile design to move the F keys. Razer fails once again! but the price is good for the standard version.
@skr1p7k1Thank you for pre-ordering the brand new Razer BlackWidow Ultimate, the world’s first mechanical gaming keyboard designed from the ground up, component by component.

"the world’s first mechanical gaming keyboard designed from the ground up, component by component."
I don't know if that's accurate. Obviously the first mechanical keyboard had to be designed from the ground up, and I bet many other companies did it for their keyboards too.
The point of the gold connectors is that gold is softer than most other metals. Helps improve the lifetime. If you think a slightly faster electricity will help, you're fucking crazy.
@skr1p7k1dd OMG , they use gold because of its high conductivity, and no its not as high as copper or silver but gold is inert, eg wont corrode and hinder electricity transfer through the connections. I hardly think that gold was used for its mechanical strength.
@skr1p7k1dd but why would they use it because its malleable? yea I know what oxide is, and if they were made from Al then you would need to scraped oxide off for a good connection, it made perfect sense.
@Shawkins49 Since its more malleable it will last a long time before breaking. Like a wood house vs a concrete house. The concrete house would break due to minor shifts in the earth over tens of years, it is not meant to move. The wood on the other hand, can bend a small bit without breaking.
And oxide is not something you can 'scrape off'. In fact, 'oxide' isn't even solid. Are you trying to say it would oxidize and rust, then you would scrape off the oxidized parts?
@skr1p7k1dd oxide is something you can scrape off, and it does happen. All aluminium oxidises on the surface. I also dont think USB plugs are required to be load bearing.
@MwRWrestling Well, it was kind of a stupid question to ask on youtube. sorry, there is no such thing as stupid questions... . . . . . . . . .. just stupid people.
LOL @ youtubers getting excited about mechanical keyboards. Check out sites like elitekeyboards (DOT) com and daskeyboard (DOT) com, as well as the keyboard forum at geekhack (DOT) org. This Cherry MX Blue switch mechanical keyboard by Razer is really quite typical, sans backlighting and media keys. Most modern mechanical keyboards support full N-key rollover via PS/2 and 6+4 key rollover for USB.
@katalysis It's not just a typical mechanical keyboard. Otherwise you could say Gaming keyboards are just the same as normal keyboards which they aren't.
@BradleyKust i type really quickly, without looking at the keyboard, using a rubber dome one. i dont see why i should pay so much for a noisier keyboard.
@BradleyKust Gold plated connectors, useless, my g15 keyboard is 1ms responce time, Cherry Mx blue mechanical switches, which is what blackwidow is using and is known for causing sore fingers. The fact that is Razer means that their product quality is poor, their products have short lifespan, and therefore, we cannot base their claim of 50million keystroke as credible. I define myself as i fast typer as i have been typing for 15 years now and ITs mainly the person, not the keyboard in speed.
@SmellsLikeNirvanna so you claim that gold plated connectors are useless??hmm
the switches were rated 50 million(not by razer), i have never noticed poor quality in my razer products..ive never heard of mx blues causing sore fingers, but its definately better than rubber domes...g15 looks hideous imo...touch typist can type way faster on mech keyboards
@BradleyKust If you dont know that gold plated connectors are nothing but just a razer marketing scam then you really dont know what you are talking about, and rubber dome keyboard is what everyone uses and few complain about sore fingers, maybe they jsut ignore it, but if you are part of a forum community you will know that cherry blues are not for gaming and gives sore fingers, black and browns are for gaming. You will also know Razer products have really pathetic life-span.
@SmellsLikeNirvanna gold plated connectors isn't a razer marketing scam, it was said by cherry, and they do help...everyone uses rubber dome cuz its cheap as fuck, and theyve never tried a mechanical keyboard... read any review on a mechanical keyboard and youll see that ever seen they used one, they havent gone back
@BradleyKust Gold plated connectors do help? help what exactly? connection? cos you know ive never had a connection problem with non gold usb connectors. If Razer really knew gaming they would make their keyboard black switches, not blue. The only reason why they chose blue is because it probably has the biggest difference in feel from rubber domes. So there you go, Razer tricking their consumers again, just like adding gold plated connectors and more "cool" lights.
@SmellsLikeNirvanna gold plated connectors do help with quicker connectivity, and no wonder you havent noticed a connection problem, you cant realize a 1 ms response time... keyswitchs are mostly preference, and since people usually have the sound in the background whil gaming, they wont hear the click as much, and youll still have good tactile feedback, which is good for gaming.. a g15 uses the same amount of force to push, so how would the blues make your finger more sore,
@BradleyKust So you are saying my 1ms keyboard is lying cos it doesnt have gold plated connectors? you need gold to have 1ms? cmon, 1ms is 1ms gold or not. gold plated connecters, useless. Think about it, blues require you to tap lightly so you can move to the nest key, when most people will put 100% force into their clicks, and when you click too hard on a mechanical, your fingers will hurt. Hence, Blacks are more suitable for gaming
@SmellsLikeNirvanna when did i say that, gold is better because it conducts electricity better, im not saying this is a great keyboard, cuz its only 80$, and if i wanted a good cheap mechanical keyboard id get this one, and you dont need to hit the keys that hard, i know that "fast typists" wont
@BradleyKust gold is leading electricity SLOWER than, for example, copper or silver. but it's definitely less fragile and can take a little more beating, but i believe steel is harder than gold.
@BradleyKust Basically, the difference with gold plated connectors is neglectable for numerical signal. Definitly makes a difference on the analog stuff though (analog sound jacks for instance)

@Shawkins49 That doesn't even make sense. USB is polled in 5 millisecond intervals, gold for connection would make ZERO sense.
skr1p7k1dd 1 year ago
@skr1p7k1dd Obviously they do make sense or it wouldn't be used. Gold doesn't corrode so you don't have to scrape oxide off it.
Shawkins49 1 year ago
@Shawkins49 Dead you read my other posts? I said the gold is there because it is malleable, not because of less resistance to electricity.
PS: Do you even know what an oxide is? Because in the context you used, it sounds like you don't.
skr1p7k1dd 1 year ago
@skr1p7k1dd but why would they use it because its malleable? yea I know what oxide is, and if they were made from Al then you would need to scraped oxide off for a good connection, it made perfect sense.

@Shawkins49 I did some research, I think you're right on this one. I thought you meant oxide as in O(2)-
skr1p7k1dd 1 year ago
@Shawkins49 Actually I take that back, this keyboard does 1000 hertz polling, so 1 ms delay. Having gold connections will do absolutely nothing.
skr1p7k1dd 1 year ago
@skr1p7k1dd but an oxide layer between the usb and computer could hinder the signal
