A lot of sport fishing guys use them because there is no brake or drag. All you have to stop that fish is the palm of your hand putting friction on the reel body. Tragically most of the wild stock is depleted or weakened by the hatchery stock brought in to prevent a complete collapse. Release your steelies Claw, esp females, you are not actually a bear.
