This is wierd I remember when the lion king came out I swore to my parents I had seen it before . They didnt beleive me :D . My uncle baby sat me for a couple hours a couple years before at a freind of his house . He put this show on to entertain me . My kids got the lion king today and I got curious and sure enough here it is OMG its totally the show I saw . There were so many similarities that even as a child I was sure I had already seen the lion king .

I loved the Lion King to death and this is my first time seeing this series. Today I watched the 1997 & the 2009 movie of leo the emperor of the jungle, I loved it. Sure I guess some could say it's like the Lion king, but if you asked me I couldn't pick witch one I loved more. >_>;

I'm 50/50 on the debate which is why I'm debating with you. I'm not another The Lion King person trying to rain on your parade, I'm just throwing these examples at you because you do know more about this series than me. So just take that as a notice of a friendly debate, is all.

I'm arguing that perhaps there are similarities, but there are FAR MORE DIFFERENCES THAN SIMILARITIES, and that there is easily 50x more material in Kimba The White Lion than The Lion King. That's comparing a movie to a whole SERIES. And really even if they were intentional it's just taking inspiration from another source, though Disney SHOULD have stated if that was the case. Like in 'Enchanted" many scenes were inspired by older disney movies and they reveal that.

I'll buy that some of the designs are similar sure, but story wise? *SPOILERS PEOPLE I mean in the first episode the father dies, he goes on a boat, jumps out, and swims to africa at 2 months old while following a butterfly migration pattern, and then he gets there and there are humans that he can talk to. Lol, what in the world? That's NOTHING like The Lion King. And any similarities they both share are shared in Hamlet. If anyone should be mad it's Shakespeare, lol.

I dont know to many animated series who have the main lion character who have birds that serve them besides Kimba & Simba, I dont know to many baboons who are friend's with the fathers an now with the main character besides mufasa/simba panja/kimba.

I wish that Kimba fans would wipe their noses over Lion King "copying" Kimba. It doesn't matter, Lion King was better executed and is an all-round better piece than Kimba can ever be. I mean how many times have they "redone" Kimba to make it "better"? Four times? Please. Lion King is more memorable and beautiful. Not saying Kimba sucks, but the Lion King is better, no matter what the argument.

Its all about timing. I've used this example many times, and again, if 50 yrs from now someone ripped of lion king and got away with it, you have those fans bitching to you saying Lion King isnt as good as whatever the future movie would be. What makes this situation worse is that young people today just because of the whole lion king thing now think its ok to plagiarize as long as it looks good and well put together. So if I take an AMV of yours make it better by using advance programs and not give you credit,

@WhiteLionPrincess27 its ok because I did a good job on it? The difference between Lion King & Kimba is Tezuka hand painted Kimba and spent endless hours working on those cels. His art is from the heart. Lion King was done by a production crew who you would think with all those people they can all come up with something original and creative instead copied as much as they could between grabbing ideas from Kimba & basing the story off of hamlet.

@SNB222 lion king fans use that argument, but its weak, simply because when making a story, and basing it off of something, it doesnt necessarily mean it comes from one source, people creating stories often use more than one source as inspiration. So the story is based off hamlet, but the character concepts seems to relate to kimba

This is actually episode 4, as far as the order of all the japanese episodes go. Only certain episodes were dubbed in english, and they skipped dubbing episodes 2 and 3.. so this is technically the 2nd english episode, but in japan, is already the 4th episode.. does that make sense?

you can buy them on video in english or get them on DVD in japanese, i recomend japanese but they have no subs. On the japanese ones though the episodes are uncut and much better graphics.

Kimba's voice sounds a little older than I expected, but I just got done watching the original series from 1966, so I shouldn't be picky. Anyway, why does everyone hate this show so much, it's Kimba, and it's beautifully animated. This is a good thing ^_^!

the pioneer dub made kimba grow up to fast by sikp 2 episodes in the japanese version kimba grew up with kinchi and in the next episode kinchi tooked kimba back to jungle wille a bad man and his goons were chasing them
