Ok heres my problem I do ewgf slightly less than half the time on the pad but after a few minutes my thumb hurts like hell, should I just use the stick and is it harder?

@sepirothfreak999 You've pretty much "hit the wall" as far as the pad goes. If you like fighting games and want to go past casual level play buy a stick. They're pretty expensive at the moment, but a while back you could buy a madcatz se and swap out the internals for either sanwa or seimitsu parts in about 15 minutes for about 70 bucks. You can find other cheap sticks to mod but research them. Madcatz WWE allstars are the same as SE's (still cheap) and you can always change the art.

@sepirothfreak999 Until you build up your muscle memory playing with a jap style stick will feel weird. You will be worse in the beginning but that's life. On the bright side, it's really easy to find diagonals on a jap-style square gates and you won't wear out your thumbs grinding them down against a d-pad. Your wrists will always be stronger and more flexible than your thumbs. Abuse this knowledge.

Don't get me wrong,but wavedashing is faaaar away from a possible move to perform.The way you have to input is way too fast,i trained to do it but it turned out impossible.I can easily cancel a first dash step,but inputting the 2 dash is impossible.I honestly don't know how people can do it in sequence.

If you're having trouble, and you don't have a joystick:

Put your thumb directly on Left (or right depending on which way you are standing).

You probably do your EWGF's better on the P2 side... Correct? This is because as your sliding your thumb down to do one, all your thumb has to do is slide down, when on the P1 side, it has to curve around the side of the DPAD.(stick)

You can do it easily on both sides, by doing F,D/F+2 instead of F,D,D/F+2. Also if you have the motion perfect, but...

Plinking only exists in Sf4 because of the engine letting you trick it into giving two inputs. theres no such thing as far as im aware of in tekken.

@PivotFridges ...Can't get 2 pressed in time with the motion, think of it as D,D/F2 instead of pressing 2 after doing D/F. Press them both at the same time. If you're STILL Struggling, press Start > Controller Setup > Settings > and Bind RP to LT (L2) It should be MUCH easier. Well, that about covers it. i have no trouble performing the EWGF using the p2 side (7/10 chance) and wavedash(not as fast as yours though) however at the p1 side it's (3/10 chance) and not being able to wavedash. this is using the casual arcade sticks at the arcades.. however if i play using a ps3 controller it's the complete opposite, i ewgf better at p1 side.. but i still cant wavedash.. any tips to learn how to wavedash at p1 side.. cos im killing my hand at the p1 side... =D

Yeah, I can attest to it not really mattering whether you use stick or pad. Day 1 of learning this stuff I could crouch dash from 2p side on a stick without even thinking about it. I could do it poorly on either side with a pad. EWGF? Thats gonna take more time to get consistent from either side with either control scheme. What I wanna know is what does "Doruya!/Dorya! I'm a pad player & people do say directional input (i.e. cd, wd, qcf_b, hcf_b) tend to be a lot easier w/ the stick. Yes, there's still the factor of "personal preference", but it's not entirely a baseless claim due to how the stick is set up & can be easily nudged into different directions, whereas the pad would require you precise pressing of the directional buttons. Because of this, there are no "ACCIDENTAL EWGFs" in the pad. Any real Tekken player should be able to accept this truth easily.

Your personal experience does not equal to universal fact.

@Ixzhaust Hey I still dont get the difference beween the DEWG and DDEWG as far as spacing. If you push forward before you push df, does the uppercut slash the spacing in half... In other words is 2forwards = 4ewgs?? Nomally when I play tekken I count slots so I dont miss a move.. but I dont get how many slots there are in these dashes, compared to a basic forward step or bacward step.

@earthquakenate I dont really understand your question, but the difference between DEWGF and DDEWGF is obvious. One is a set distance(DEWGF), the other any distance beyond, no matter how big.

DDEWGF is anything from slightly longer than a DEWGF to a running EWGF ( f,f,F,n,d,d/f+2 )

Further to this awesome guide, try this tip:

Go to Practice Mode & set your dummy to 'Guard All'. Now practice pressing df+2 BY ITSELF (Kazuya's Abolishing Fist). Now practice the wavedash tech as stated in this tutorial. Combine them. You'll notice a HUGE difference. I've been following this guide for 5 mins and I can already do 3-4 EWGF in a row using my personal learning technique.
