JETHROMAYHAM, i really hope ur not talkin about jahvid best.. cuz if u are..ima be brutally honest with you...ur stupid..but if ur talkin bout someone else, then ur ok..please dont make me call you stupid..
you are MENTALLY CHALLEGED if you think he shouldnt play football. He's number one in the heisman voting right now. Don't speak when you're so ignorant. He just had 5 touchdowns against minnesota 2 weeks ago. Shut up and watch one of his highlights.
he has the high school record with a 10.01 did it in the USA trials came in second behind Tyson gay yea Tyson gay the fastest American an FLA has Jeff demps an hes just 19 what a beast
Demps did come in 2nd to Gay but it was in the quarterfinal round at 2008 US trials, meaning no one was running all out. In the round after he finished last in the semifinal heat and failed to advance to the finals. Demps is a remarkable athlete for his age, but he's no where near a world-class sprinter like Tyson Gay.
yea i know that... i make a picture of were demps is an best is.... best didnt even brake a 10.20 coming out of high school demp avered a 10.2 in high school .. did u see the 2009 ncaa??
They aren't that far off, it would be ignorant to base it off one time. Demps ran 10.01 on a very fast track at Heyward Field. Ever notice how 3 outstanding records were broken that week during the trials just in the 100m? The reality is Demps isn't a consistent 10.01 100m guy he's not even a consistent 10.1 guy, his best time from 2009 was 10.30 and the highest he placed in any competition this collegiate season was a mere 6th. I'm not saying Jahvid is faster but you have to give him credit.
im not taking credit the man is fast dont get me wrong i was just saying.. an if that was a fast track that me ever on that ran that day had a fake time... an at that time demps was 160 when he ran that.. in 2009 he was 185 he gained weight for football.. what did best run in collegiate? we dont know cus he does not run collegiate when he ran in high school he ran a 10.31 an it was windy take the wind off an that might be a 10.4 or even a 10.5 it was 2.7 wind that like running on a fast track???
I agree with you though we don't know what Best would be running at this point and time, unfortunately 2 years of post-season surgery have kept him out of track, 10.7 is kind of ridiculous. As far as the excuse that Demps is running slower because he gained 25lbs in 3 months, it's irrational. Jeff Demps was not running at 160lbs in 2008, he was listed at 175lbs in Fall 07 for his last season of football. And it's insignificant because he has about 3 months to drop weight the outdoor season.
And if you think Best is really that much slower, his 200m PR from high school was about .5s lower than Demps' was. Best had ridiculous top speed and the ability to maintain it, he may have not had that one perfect race, on a fast track in high school to put up some crazy time, but that doesn't conclusively mean he's slower. And guys like Trindon Holliday, Tyson Gay, Jacoby Ford only had PRs of 10.4/10.3 out of HS. Track isn't about one exclusive time, it's about consistency and progression.
an demps ran the fastest time coming out of high school u cant put him with them guy because they are not the same.... an jacoby PR with a 10.21 best ran a 10.31 with wind if demps would of had some wind he may could of ran a 9.9.. an i said demp ran a average of 10.2-10.3.. best didn't he ran 10.31 with wind one time so he didn't run it conclusively like u say demps ran under 10.4 nine times in 08 10.25,10.17,10.4,10.44,10.44.10.4,10.34,10.01,10.3
Best actually had several 10.3s in 2007 coming out of high school it was not just that one 10.31, his PR was a legal 10.36 with a +1.2 tailwind, well within the legal limit, He had several others along with that 10.31 (+2.4). All I'm saying is the discrepancy between Jahvid Best and Jeff Demps isn't quite as large as you make it out to be. Best was about a 10.3 sprinter in high school, Demps was more or less a 10.2 guy. And if you look at the 200m Best was actually faster 20.65 is unreal.
we dont even know what he best runs now because he does not run track for the school.. so all we know he could be running a 10.7 now.. running with wind is like running on a fast track.. an Walter Dix 9.96 Travis Padgett 10.06 Darvis Patton 10.04 John Capel 10.16 Xavier Carter 10.14 an demps ran a 10.12 with all these guys on a fast track so to say with the big boys in Preliminaries... Quarter-Finals Gay 9.7 demps 10.01 dix 10.02 Padgett 9.89 Darvis Patton 9.89 all in different heats...
Demps isn't running slower times because of adding weight, a condition every football player has to deal with when they transition to track season. Demps is running slower because he was never that 10.0X, 10.1X guy to begin with. People expect him to replicate those times and he can't. He's falling into the same pattern as J-Mee Samuels who set the HS NR with a 10.08 in 2005. Samuels came in overhyped because he ran ridiculous times and then he never developed and his peers caught up to him.
yea an demps ran like 4 10.1 in 2008.. but his10.3 was hes last time with no wind.. an when did best run that 10.31 2 years ago i dont think he is still close to runing that. an how many times did best run a 10.3? i know he PR as a JR 10.39 seems like he didnt get know faster he ran a 10.31 with wind an u say it came out to be a 10.36 yea wit 2.4+ wind i dont think so jeremy hall ran a 10.11 at SEC with a 1.8 an it came out to be a 10.24 so how is that 10.31 a 10.36. an demps beat hall in trials
10.36 LEGAL WIND not +2.4 not +2.2, he ran 10.36 at the Sacramento Meet of Champions on April 28th, 2007 with a wind rating of +1.2 well within the legal limit. 10.31 at the CIF State Meet on June 02, 2007. 10.39 Arcadia Invitational in 2006, 10.37 at Mt. SAC in 2007. Look at his 200m times he ran 21.16 into a headwind and ran 20.65 with legal wind, those are ridiculous times I'm sorry you can't appreciate seem to appreciate them, but 20.65 as an 18 year old is almost as impressive as 10.01.
was that a video of the 200 or the 100 demps does not run the 200 in Ncaa he is not that fast in the 200.. an best ran a 10.3 for 3 years?? an cj spiller ran 10.4 an 10.3 in high school but in 2008 ACC championship in cj ran 10.6 ford ran 10.4 an Padgett 10.14.. but in high school cj 10.3,10.4 an ford 10.3,10.2.. high school is faster but demps was out of school for a few weeks went to Oregon an blasted a 10.01.. an Josh Walker says thats not a fast track he ran a 13.4 on in 110 hurdle..
Hayward field is a fast track everyone knows that, Tyson Gay was raving for weeks leading up to the Olympic Trials about how he wanted to run there because they just resurfaced with a unique Tartan polyurethane composition. And not coincidentally 4 records in the 100m and many PRs were broken in the same meet (american, collegiate, high school, and junior world) you can't say that isn't a fast track that just irrational.
man i got 2 NCAA runner (josh walker, Jeremy hall) one 2 time 110 hurdles champ how as ran on that track 6 or 7 different times saying its not.. josh walker said he ran faster times at
UT an USC then he did their.. what about everbody else that ran smiler times their an went to the olympus an ran damn near the same time???
Tyson Gay (9.77), Jeffery Demps (10.01), and Travis Padgett (9.89) broke 3 US records and all PRed.
Ivory Williams (9.94), Leroy Dixon (10.02), Rodney Martin (9.95), Mark Jelks (9.99), Darvis Patton (9.89), Xavier Carter (10.00), Chris Hargrett (10.12), Rae Edwards (10.06), Kendall Stevens (10.12) PRed all on the same day in the quarterfinals.
I don't care how many people you pretend you know that personally told you it was a slow track, but 12 PRs and 3 broken national records is NOT normal.
You picked one time from the ACC championships, where everyone ran slower, but this isn't about one arbitrary meet. You can pick a meet for any athlete where they ran slower. Demps had 3 months to put a decent time for this collegiate outdoor season he did not, over SEVERAL meets. Spiller went from running 10.42 in hs to 10.41 to 10.29. Ford from 10.50 to 10.32 to 10.23 to 10.01. Demps from one season to 10.01 to 10.30 the next that's atypical to not even be within 3 tenths of your previous SB.
And the whole well he's probably gotten slower thing is ridiculous, most sprinters at 18 haven't even hit their developmental peak yet and continue to get significantly faster as they grow into their bodies. If you look at all the other recent college football players/sprinters Holliday, Best, Ford, Garvin, Spiller, Jamaal Charles, etc they got faster not slower in their tenures in college, Demps is the one exception because he was never a 10.0 guy to begin with.
where did best get faster he ran a 10.3 for 3 years an never an Ncaa u cant count his times in high school an he aint run track in 2 years.. Holiday got faster later 10.4 05 yea ford took a year or 2 06 10.5 spiller 07 10.5s 08 10.5s a few 10.6 09 10.3s got slower then got a lil faster Jamaal ran a 10.17 in 06 an 07 10.3s.. an demps ran a 10.3 as a freshman their is know name u named that ran faster as a freshman so u put it.. demps has a better change to get faster then these guys
Demps didn't beat Jeremy Hall at the US trials, he ran a faster time in a different heat. You can't always use transitive property in track, just because you put up a faster time doesn't mean you beat them in a head to head race. In the 2009 outdoor season Demps never even came close to beating his teammate Hall the closest he got was when he ran 10.42 at the War Eagle Invitational, Hall ran 10.19. Demps has lost twice also to D'Angelo Cherry who's younger than him at that meet and at the SECs.
Eventually guys like Holliday, Padgett, Ford, Dix, who Samuels put up better times than in high school started beating him in collegiate competition and Samuels never became the sprinter he was expected to be. That's already happening with Demps, guys his own age like Marcus Rowland (10.03 in 09) and D'Angelo Cherry (10.04 in 09) have already caught him despite what he did in high school and are beating him in competition in the SEC. Demps isn't quite the track prodigy you think he is.
never said he was a pridigy.. this was about him putting up a 10.01.. not being a prodigy... but u say he was never a 10.01 guy in NCAA.. he still put up better times they best. an i know Dangelo cherry is hell fast.. my homie Josh Walker has all the videos of all these guys an went to FLA with demps an hall an says best would never run a 10.31 in Ncaa because must of the of the time u run fast in high school but demps is the only person to run a 10.01 under 10.4 at a big meet that young
wo parents went out for dinner. A few hours later, the babysitter was calling to ask if she could cover up the clown statue in the kids' room, the father said,Take the kids and get out of the house. We'll call the police, we don't have a clown statue. The clown statue is really a killer that escaped from jail.
