fishermack you did it well. All of us must to know that almost everything moves around carp when they eat. They will know that is a fake (now you can find better fake weed),but you are right. They are more afraid of tackle than a fake weed. Good camouflage.
This is a very creative idea. I am not too convinced that most carp are as nervous about hook links as we think (check my underwater videos to see why), but still, I applaud your creativity.
Very clever rig. Here in the U.S. we are overrun with Asian carp in our rivers. Can you come up with a rig that would be effective for those? I know they are filter feeders but people are learning to catch them on a rod and reel.
I think the carp are going to know that the "weed" is polyethlyene plastic. You should switch to styrene or PET so the carp wont be able to sense the extra carbon molecule. Also, that "weed" simulates duckweed, which isnt even native to europe. Its an asian weed and the carp are going to be very suspicious of an asian weed in europe even if its formulated with the correct plastic.
Where do you get the fake weeds from? I saw the vid so i thought i would have ago. Pulled a fake weed out of my fishtank but the only problem is that its only hollow on the clip bits?
nice one mate..nice vid...dont ya get some proper f...kin...no it alls on here!! some of the comments...youd think they invented fishing!! well done mate.
good effort mate, keep em guessing. when the boillie first came in it was a huge revelation. carp had never seen them and they were not natural.........now look every carp angler has used them. keep up the inovations. p.s i fish a lake with 85 percent weed so im gonna try it
The reason boilies were accepted so quickly isnt because carp just decided to take them and now used to them, its the high protein and goodness inside the boilie itself that made it so quickly accepted. Carp like most fish can sense how much good they will get from the food they can smell and see to how much enegy they use to get it. This weed cant really be compared to that like you have tried to but i agree, Any new thing is a good thing as you never know whatle catch on, get it? CATCH on:o)!
Maybe, but carp are very inquisitive and will investigate anything new or unusual. Some of the big, wise carp may be wary but I have caught a couple over 12 pounds with this exact set up. It does work.
We could all say the same thing for many end tackle items. Carp will often see parts of our rigs but we may still catch cos they're competing for the food with other fish. The bigger fish don't often get caught cos they see or are cautious of rig bits. For these fish we need to try new things.
if you look in garden centres there are now so many wierd exotic weeds that you can actually find a real weed that can be used. I like the fact the guys trying new stuff as if this wasnt done then we would all still be using line direct to hooks with bamboo poles or what ever, im just unfortunate that the carp in my waters wouldnt even think of going within ten yards of this weed set up let alone me getting a take, however i can see it working on some water with lillys etc.
Fair game to you for thinking and trying new things out mate. Personally though i wouldnt be using or even trying this on my waters but if it works on your water then well done.
:o na im not avin this , it looks like a false xmas tree, youll be stickin bleedin berrys or somthin on next,,,,come on draw the line here! mr skinner. put all thet back in the aqurium and get back to minimalistic's
True, I agree. But do you not think that anything new to carp will intrigue them to a point where they will want to investigate it?
When they arrive they see a bait presented in a way that seems natural (lying on top of weed), but they cannot see any end tackle because its all hidden.
I know this rig works because I have caught a fair few on it. In one lake it was presented on silt!

Dont you think the carp will sence that somethings up when it notices that whenever he touches the boilie, the "weed" moves aswell?

But what if that type of weed is not in the lake...and its plastic..it will look alien to the fish....
