  • I wonder if if the statements you read could be used by some people as an explanation for continueing to suppress the "iberian/mozarabic" liturgy in Spain. It was never completely suppressed by all but it was confined to three or four chapels or parishes for the last few hundred years. Personally I am very divided on these statements. I argue for liturgical diversity rather than uniformity, therefore the diversity that existed in earlier centuries is to me more natural.

  • Where the Holy Spirit's role comes into liturgical suppression and or local traditions I dont fully know. I can only say my experiences seeing the same corporate entities in every local town of the USA in look a like "shopping centers" this to me is frightening. The counter reformation and the humanism of the scholastic period has I think brought more harm than good and for me to a certain extent both the tridentine mass and novus ordo symbolize this

  • the tridentine being far superior and liturgically sound but in it's imposition of uniformity, devotions and regulations in the name of a counter offense towards protestants going against the harmony held by the local bishops with their flock. The idea of organic development...perhaps one can question if it ever existed at all. This is why the Oriental Orthodox Churches are the only true model of harmonius liturgical diversity, within the "Catholic" Church it is not harmonious.
