That would be great if that match was found. I lived in San Antonio and saw that fued progress after that angle happened. Those matches were awesome between those two guys. I hope someone does post that match. It would be great to check that out again.
I have been unable to find an online video of the match in which Sweetan gave Cowboy Scott Casey about 4 piledrivers - two of them outside the ring on the concrete floor. Can anyone help me with this? It was a truly great match.
Bob Sweetan wrestled here in St. Louis in the '70s. He was a heel here, but was never kayfabe with the fans. He was always nice to everyone and readily signed autographs and posed for pictures.
I met Sweetan behind the Junction in San Antonio on Blanco Road where SWCW did their tapings. He was super cool and put me in a headlock as my mom's boyfriend snapped a pic. I also met Gino Hernandez who snapped a pic with me also, this was right after his face turn. I tried to met Tully. He wasn't havin' it.
Hey FREDPATRICK100 I couldn't have said that any better. Those are my exact feeling bout ole "BBS", Every Sat. morning i'd be watching MidSouth. Im glad to here he's still around if that's true.
@Lfdjake91 That is true. He wasn't glitzy or had bulging muscles but man was he ever the great worker. I did have his T shirt--"Mr. Piledriver" it was great looking!
Bob Sweetan was the man I loved to hate. His interviews were priceless, and he was very successful in Southwest Championship Wrestling, which I was very addicted to at the time. I am very pleased that he is still with us, and glad he is doing well. To whoever knows him personally, please say a big hello to to him from a big fan of his from the Southwest days. There will never be another Bob Sweetan, thats for sure.
Bob Sweetan was in the process of turning babyface when this match took place. He was a great heel, and was great as a babyface also. He won the most popular wrestler contest in Southwest one year. I hope he is doing well today, I hope you can post more matches from that area, because it was original. Thanks!!!!!
remember the 1st match I saw of Bob was against Tiger Conway,Jr.Frank was a real nice guy.Bob was just ferocious, when he was a heel.Wish they'd have the match where he dropped Casey on his head outside the ring.
great match! Dig older bruiser vs muscle stud. The stud gave it his best shot but the Bruiser got tired of being out wrestled and ended with a devastating pile drive. Nice!
He also worked in Texas as Cowboy Kirk and tag teamed as The Alaskan ( Mike York) and Frank Monte. I knew him back in the early 70's. Anyone know where he is and what he's doing these days?
Shit....Did you see that head-scissor takedown at 2:47,,,,and that's a real big man doing that working against his own belly!!!!or that escape at 4:55 of that front chansory????? an MMA lesson right there..I used to watch this waaaaaaaayyy back in the day...i was only in grade school then!!! I used to look forward to watching this every weekend,, even if it was only 30mins in lenght.(remember those days, and the Post-shower interviews they'd have with the wrestlers??) Great wrestling then!!!
Hi Frank. I'm a personal friend of Mr. Sweetan here in BC and he has talked of you quite often. He is doing well and as contancerous as ever!! Wishing you well

I think this is from the early 1970s, as Monte looks young.
