  • Wow

4 years later and no great depression

I am still alive buying groceries

Inflation is not out of hand 4 years later

    No collaps of the dollar

Yes gold and silver up but the increase is only from the Faux demand and manipulator

Oil is only $100 AND GOLD IS JUST NOW $1700 AND SILVER $33

good call on that but it took 4 years.

what should we gamble on now??

  • How can inflation rise when consumers aren't spending?

  • it got worse.

  • you're hilarious

  • Every day economists and financial experts say and do everything possible to avoid admitting that money is a lie. It used to be a symbol of gold wealth, now it means nothing. It's quite simple. Base your life on lies and it will bite you in the behind. It is a worldwide lie. Nothing will change until we start being honest with ourselves.

  • Down wih Capitalism, Communism, Socialism, Fascism, and all kinds of ism!

    ANARCHY NOW!

  • america is still here, its still strong, and will not collapse.

  • @amcanmike You've been watching too much television.

  • @deepfreeze202 NO I LOOK AROUND FOR MYSELF AND I SEE GOOD THINGS

  • @amcanmike Perhaps you should look beyond yourself and see what is going on in the rest of the world.

  • @deepfreeze202 i look around, and the world has always had good and bad, im sorry

  • don't support banksters "Fools Gold"

  • It's all about one world government. Look at it forming around us. the third world country's are already owned by the banksters. We're next.

  • It's all about what country ends up on top. You just don't get it.

  • How come ppl are always taking about the problem, and not solutions??

  • @knowledgeispowerfful why is it that the ppl that created the problems are always trying to create the solutions? The solution IMO is to get the government out of the way, reduce it, cage it, and throw away the key.

  • @visionvictory What is IMO?? and how does one get the gov't out of the way? Plz don't say through voting.

  • The timing was off in this video, but it is in the process now. $1500 Gold by Dec. 31...maybe sooner. $30 Silver by the same date, maybe sooner. $4 gasoline by June 2011...even with unemployment at 9.6%. Unemployment will go up to 11% by June 2011.

  • I am expecting gas prices to rise and choke off what recovery we have. Right now we are stalled. Which means no big dips for now. We will probably crash and have to rebuild. It happened to Russia, it happened to Brazil, and it happened to Rome which is what structure is most modeled in the USA. Times will get hard but it's not the end of the world. I don't think anyone has the guts to do what needs to be done. Welcome to a consumer economy with no comsumers to invest money into it.

  • Well you didn't look at the date of the video. This was back in 2008 just before prices of gas got to near $5/gal.

  • This guy is wrong on two accounts, gas prices rising in the middle of a recession is counter intuituve, demand is down so prices will stay low. Gas prices escalating will come later and choke off the recovery.

Paying off the debt to China is actually quite feasible based upon past economic performance, the only problem is that past economic performance cannot be repeated due to limitations on the supply of energy. We really need to quit borrowing and learn to expect growth of only 1% per annum.

  • it didn't happen yet

  • @407buddy i so agree with you, guns and violence is not the way....non compliance, quit paying any taxes, mortgages and property and such.....there running scared.....if i had one wish it would be that a mass a awakening take place...

    peace

  • buy your AK-47 now!!!!

  • So funny, things maybe hard right now for many people. But this is still not a great depression. It is now 2010 and it still isn't as bad as a GREAT DEPRESSION. What a stupid freak.

  • Haha, wrong on pretty much... everything.

  • There is no place to be as long as these kinds of player banks and their friends are supported.

Is it really impossible to cut these criminal banks with their helper politicians off from system?

Isn´t there two sides in the deals? Why dealbreakers get constantly pets on their heads?

  • "we have bounced back" LOL Why because Obama the great delivered us ?

Here's how you can't go wrong anything out of his mouth just assume it's a lie and you can't go wrong 99% of the time.

  • I used to warn people of this, but they refuse to listen. I think this collapse is a good thing. The corruption in the American government is so deep and so immoral that we need to start over again as a country. I can no longer be loyal to a county that murders hundreds of thousands of civilians in foreign lands and forces the majority of people here into low-wage servitude or unemployment. I am loyal to the Constitution. If the government is not loyal to it, then it needs to fall.

  • @HiSpeedDrifter, sadly I have to agree. Although, deep down I feel sad and feel heart broken, I have come to realize that maybe this collapse will be the final wake up call and we can start over and rebuild this country. We need a Renaissance. We NEED MAIN STREET; NOT WALL STREET. Get RID OR ABOLISH the FEDERAL RESERVE and go back to the pre-1965 90% silver coins and we can take it from there.

  • dude, if you really posted this in April 08, then you are a prophet!

Most of what you said came to pass.

Well done. What are your predictions for 2010?

  • Oh .. What all he said has happened so far .. Hope what All he says do not happern latter.. But I am sure US has it in it to come out of it....

  • I`m embarrassed to be American after the way our government acts. I hope people in other countries don`t think all American`s are lke that or agree with it. Most Americans don`t agree with the way the government is ruining everything. Greed and stupidity. Things have to change for the better or we are all in trouble thanks to them.

  • I live in Europe where people here think that all Americans are like Bush and eat hamburgers. They consider us incredibly ignorant. And they do have a point.

  • I agree. They do have a point. My eyes are finally opening. I`m not like that. Neither are any of my friends. You`re so lucky to live in Europe! We want to move out of here and are trying to figure out how to go about it.

  • @mrmolinodelahoz Thats ok I think that all europeons are socialist sissies that cant stand up for themselves and think that meat comes from the market. So it all evens out.

  • You know, I do agree with you with the one exception----------we have a great historical culture from which to enrich ourselves and see. America has shopping malls, gas stations, My next trip will be in Italy and not Las Vegas.

  • You need to listen to Gerald Celente.

  • That is funny you say now is not the time to get greedy? Greed is why america is where it`s at. more and more woman are turning to prositution ,as a result they are driving prices down, and guys are getting more bang for a buck.(FACT)

  • If greed has made USA what it is today, please explain why the USA must borrow 3,000,000,000 per day to pay it´s daily debts.?

Greed has two sides, like cocaine and drugs, the up side and the unavoidable down side.

The Banks have ripped us off with all sorts of shaninagins and they get a BAIL OUT. You try the same thing and see how far you get- Thanks to Bush-Obama team.

  • Greed is Greed it starts with every person in the world.

  • To some people there is no limit to greed.

They follow it to excessive limits.

And others are content to have just enough.

The fact that there are benefactors and donors to charities prooves that not everyone is greedy without limits.

There are many forms of greed which are related to power. These guys from N.Korea, Iran, Venezuela,Cuba,China,Africa, prove that the worst of humanity is attracted to politics. Show me any politican and I will point to a son of Satan.

  • It's funny all you people talk like nothing can ever happen to the USA. NEVER has the USA been in the kind of debt it is today. That is not a guess or joke, it is real and you know it. How in history have we come out of something like that? It's true we have over come a lot in the past, but this time collapse is coming. Don't be afraid arrogance has a price tag and running an empire (not what the founders intended) is not possible. America is toast sadly. His predictions are true. haha

  • Yeah well i'm outta of U.S.A. by next year you guys can have fun here.

  • Problem, Reaction, Solution! This will never change as long as money exist!

  • oluas ... I believe money is, in large part, the root of evil. Sounds like you do also.

The money market baffles me totally... just know its evil.

  • How does the STUPID money affect you my friend?

  • money will cease to exist, there will be no more controling sistems my friend, fear not, just love, averything will be ok, we are starting to awaken, to the 4th dimention, things will be as it was in ancient times, the return of Christ consciousness, so FEAR NOT! IT IS ALL ABOUT LOVE WE ARE LOVE!

  • Just wanted to say good job man!!!

I was watching you video when you said you predicted the collapes that was coming. You sure did!

  • Everyone who is scared of our current and future economic times, please YouTube and Google "Mary Elizabeth Croft"

  • boy o boy you knocked it otta the park with those 08 09 predictions

keep your day job never mind this probley is your day job

  • Ron Paul. He's the only reason I'll vote republican come 2012.

  • @HuggumsMcgehee

Ron Paul is good at telling us what we want to hear. He couldnt change a tire even if he wanted to. Quit being naive.

  • @Shockofsanta I guess from the way I phrased it you thought that I believe he'll get the nomination. If he did, I'd vote for him. I doubt he could do anything though, but as it stands I simply won't vote. Who is this we you speak of though? He isn't even on most Americans' radar screens. He isn't just blowing smoke. He's been voting and speaking the same way for decades. He's got a proven track record that the other candidates don't have. You seem to be implying he's a hypocrite. He is not.

  • @HuggumsMcgehee

And heres a prediction for your: RP will get the nomination. RP will mobilize the youth that Obama used to enjoy. RP will win the White House.

I made that prediction over a year ago and people thought I was nuts. Stay tuned, kiddies.

  • @HuggumsMcgehee

The "we" I refer to is the people who dont subscribe to either of the two major "Parties." Libertarians, Constitutionalists, patriots, etc.. Its my opinion that RP is controlled opposition. A back-up candidate incase a majority of Americans lose faith in the mainstream politicians, and it looks increasingly apparent that is the case. Its also my opinion that, based on my previously stated opinion, RP's awesome track record is designed for the purpose of gaining "our" trust.

  • @Shockofsanta I think that's a bit ridiculous. You're being paranoid. If he wins and does a 180, I'll believe you. I doubt he'll even get the nomination. The mainstream media are doing their damndest not to notice him and most conservative/Repub media maintain that he's "unelectable". He won second place in Iowa and he's STILL ignored. I understand your mistrust, but don't just start making things up. If we start doing that, we rightly lose credibility.

  • @HuggumsMcgehee

Your right; I am being paranoid. For cause I believe. Error on the side of caution, right?

Here's the way I see things:

America is fu**ed RP or no RP. Theres nothing he can do to fix(or "restore" as he likes to say) it, so any promises to that order I instantly discount.

The rest is speculation, in a worst case scenario fasion.

  • @Shockofsanta I feel ya. He could shut down federal agencies, but can only veto laws passed by Congress.

  • @Shockofsanta And most politicians are good at telling people what they want to hear. It's just that almost none actually deliver. Mostly because they can't because what most Americans want to hear isn't in reality sustainable, functional, or even moral.

  • @HuggumsMcgehee And thats precisly why the US is supposed to be a Constitutional Republic and not a Democracy. Of course you know that Im sure. I cant figure out if they fail to deliver their promises because they either 1) didnt intend to anyway or 2) got corrupted once they took office. Probably a combination of the both. What do you think?

  • @Shockofsanta Nope. I agree with you except I'd add a third possibility. 3) They genuinely think it might be a great idea and follow through.

  • great video, keep up the work my friend.

its a terrible shame so many people dont know wtf is going on.

  • We havn't started yet with the depressing...Its just starting now, just wait until the housing and retail space market starts to bottom out. I really don't think people realize what has happen here!

We are in serious trouble here in America. This isn't some dooms day comments its real. I want everone to do me a favor...just go around and take a look at your City and tell me what you see. How many retail spaces do you see for rent or sell. I live in MO and it look's very troublesome.

  • we live in ca. and my husband will retire from the navy next yr on his 20th yr. im kinda wondering if we really should get out? I mean, its military but its great pay, etc. we have two boys, its a big toss up, you know? we want out from under uncle sam, but what are we heading into?

  • I know. I'm graduating at the end of this academic year. People have already lost internship offers because of the economy.

  • Kentucky looks ok except for the retail space (Circuit City, Linens & Things, etc.) that have closed down. Our strip malls look very depressed. Still getting new restaraunts, etc. in the richer parts of town.

  • I'm from Ashland Kentucky 41101, that's from getting Jap cars, and hurting everyone around you,

American did this...... Kentucky and Tennessee the worst.... little Japan

I'm so ashamed to be from Kentucky

  • @tourdogg I totally agree... With inflation, this situation will only accelerate...

  • How right you were- almost six months before it all happened. If only people had listened to you. Keep it up my friend!!!

  • Comment removed

  • I'm a poor old man living in rural Oklahoma. Gold is a fancy piece of jewelry. If like others, gold is out of reach, then buy lead. Its cheaper and has better knock down power at 200 yards. Just keepin it real...

  • At the time this video was made, all the economist were saying we were not even going to go into a recession. Jim Cramer and CNBC were screaming from the roof tops to buy dow jones 13,000.

My video states that the dow would hit 8,000 by the fall of 2008, and it did.

With 33.8M on food stamps, rising unemployment and a surge in foreclosures, I think you sound really stupid saying we have bounced back.

  • Your just so wrong. You just watch.

What is it inside of you?

  • You are the depression. Get a job.

  • Well, you were a little bit too fast in your predictions there, but I'm just as sure as you that it will come. I think the US economy will hold for yet some time, because the Fed can reinflate, the gov't can bailout Wall Street and "stimulate" the economy for quite some time before it finally collapses. I further believe that the real collapse will come when foreign treasury holders wants back their "investment" in US bonds (and other things connected to the dollar).

  • DOW 7k-6k = Right

    S&P 600-700 = Right

Gas @ 4 = Right, but everyone saw that coming

    Oil 175 = Wrong

    Gold 15k = Wrong

    Possible hyper inflation = Wrong

    Euro 1.75 = Wrong

    3=right 4=wrong

    conclusion = bad investment advice

  • Please cite your sources, you are clearly trying to take credit from other people's work and that just plagiarism.

  • where and how is one to buy gold or silver

  • I hope the economy collapses. So that everyone who survives can see what greed can do, and so middle class americans can become criminals, so they can see what poverty is like. I am all for anarchy. You insensitive, anti-intellectual, hypocritical, and vain motherfuckers deserve nothing less. You support a system that destroys other people so that you can validate yourselves by your social economical class, and your high priced "trinkets" while other people are helpless and hopeless.

  • @1studentoftruth THIS GUY MUST BEA COMMY! BASTARD!

  • @1studentoftruth lithium and other modern medicines along with intensive psychological help could help you. Sorry your parents were such assholes.

  • @ALTERED13TH YES

  • @1studentoftruth .. well said.

  • @1studentoftruth ooohhhhhhhhhhh anger cheer up

  • @1studentoftruth nicely said.

  • Thank you Daniel for your videos. You are the man, I've enjoyed your videos the most. Cut and dry straight to the point and way ahead of mainstream american sheeple.

  • Move all that clutter out of the background for a better video. Keep the Ron Paul poster but straighten it out.

You definitely have the right idea but avoid timetable predictions or you're gonna lose credibility.

  • $1500 in 12 moths? (by march 2009)

    Nope.

Kudos for having the balls to call it.

  • I make similar comments in my video:

    watch?v=kzWoKVctgIc&feature=channel_page

  • An "acceptable" level of unemployment means that the government economist to whom it is acceptable still has a job.

  • i fucking know exactly what some in us government did with excess funding no repentance accepted - may you have similiar murder attempts made on you that have been made on me including being fed alive to pigs - i know you will now go through that sort of punishment in this worldly life and NEVER escape it ................or you want to call me or guidance lies / liar ?

  • what do you mean? is your head in the sand? He's been right on the money, so to speak.

  • Sweden is more of a socialist country, there people are taxed death. Creating personal;wealth in Sweden is almost impossible. I personally don't want to live in a society so reliant on the government.

  • World Revolution is the only solution for Marx peace, order, dignity, justice, humanity & equality to vastly improve conditions for future generations. The less than 1% ruling class Capitalist brutality has failed the masses by betraying us into widepread chaotic poverty striving in declining desperation just to make ends while the elite continues to benefit in their regressive, right wing status quo dogmas in most countries like here, Mexico and Singapore where socialist voices are crushed!

  • "From each according to their ability, to each according to their need" Karl Marx

One problem though, you have no way of knowing their ability, and you have no way of controlling their need

And if ability, is a sign you must take more from a person, doesn't it then follow that people will hide their ability? To keep as much as they can?

You think capitalism is bad? Where everyone competes to be the best, well, just imagine a system where everyone competes to be the worst, and that is Marxism

  • Capitalism necessitates inequality and poverty (worker competition). People are at a disadvantage if born into poverty. This system holds these people down and can't be the best

Once monopolies are in place consumers have less choice and small businesses can't compete.

Workers are paid much less than they were in the 1950s. The extra goes to profit and the workers are left in debt and can't buy the things they produce.

How can supply and demand work if people don't have the means to demand?

  • You mean monopolies that charge excessively high prices, providing an incentive for entrepreneurs to start businesses to get in on that profit, thus driving prices down?

The only way a monopoly can exist in capitalism is if it provides such low prices that no business can compete with it, and, I think that is a good thing. Any business that attain this circumstance should be commended and rewarded.

And capitalism does reward such a business, with high profits, and they deserve every cent

  • How does capitalism hold people down? It does not stop them from getting a job at their skill level, and then from that position learning and acquiring skills so that they may demand a higher wage.

Only to the extent, that minimum wage laws prevent people of low skill from being hired in the first place are they held down, but that is not capitalism, it is social engineering

  • how do you mean workers are paid less than they were in 1950?

Nominally wages have gone up, even correcting for inflation wages have risen, and people have a lot more "gadgets" and wealth than they used to. So I'm curious how you are measuring this.

And further the level of debt a country has, is related to its interest level, which in the US is set by a government institution. They keep interest rates low, thus encouraging debt. If they raised rates it would encourage people to save

  • capitalism demands an honest money system. Where interest rates are set by the market, based on supply of loan money VS demand for loans.

This will stop over borrowing, it will prioritized borrowing and will encourage higher savings

500 letters not enough to really explain it, but, it will also lead to system where the value of ones money will increase, leading to lower prices, and pulling people out of poverty by increasing the buying power of their wages

  • The current system we have, is set by Government decree, and they have decided to drain the buying power out of our money, and then use that buying power to buy our votes

Thus pushing people into poverty. Capitalism would have an honest money system that would restrain and prevent government from doing this

If you are curious of the economics that will support my claims, just ask and I will forward a private message with links

  • We have more "gadgets" now because we are in more debt and constantly use credit and loans. Creating a problem right now isn't it?

If you're talking about salaries of CEOs those have increased exponentially. So the money has been taken away from the workers and given to the top especially since the 1980s.

Since the 1980s profits have gone up and workers wages have gone down.

  • yes, and debt accumulation is related to interest rates, which are set by government, so if you are truly concerned about the amount of debt we have, you should be on my side.

Capitalism would never set interest rates to 1% with inflation of 3%, making the real rate -2%, and then people borrow absurd amounts of money

And we're supposed to be, what? Surprised?

Capitalism has checks in place to prevent this, government does not, they act on the expediency of the moment, nothing more

  • Im not pro-big government probably like the Marxist you were talking to before although I think Marx had a lot of important things to say about capitalism. Im anti-capitalism and anti-big government.

Capitalist Libertarians and I usually agree on a lot of things until it comes to economics because Im a Libertarian Socialist.

  • how can you be anti-capitalist and anti-big government?

Are you an anarchist? or what? I don't understand Libertarian Socialist. You either believe that one can use physical force to collect money, like in socialism.

Or you believe that people should be free from physical coercion like a Libertarian.

I don't understand how can you can mesh the two.

  • I use libertarian socialist and anarcho-syndicalist or anarcho-socialist interchangeably sometimes. They're all similar.

  • Comment removed

  • Capitalist libertarians want individual liberty but dont realize that capitalism encourages a concentration of power and wealth into the hands of what will eventually be a privileged class.

Once capitalism is established for generations, a ruling class will emerge. I dont understand how that could equal liberty for the people who werent born into that lineage. There cant be equal opportunity once an unequal playing field emerges.

  • If we start from scratch and have pure laissez faire capitalism, some people will do better than others because certain people have business smarts. Their companies would grow and continue to compete with others, which would fail. Monopolies would start to develop.

Pretty soon whole towns will be employed by a few large companies and the original entrepreneur would be long gone and these companies would probably be inherited or bought by someone else far removed from the original vision/plan

  • yeah, but these inherited businesses, once the the heir takes them over, how does he maintain them?

If an heir takes over, that is unable to do what his father did, the company will crumble. The company would then be very open to being toppled by a competitor that may not have started with all his benefits.

Unless Government coercion keeps this new entrepreneur from entering the field.

Only government can maintain a monopoly, if you find an instance where this is not the case, state it.

  • "yeah, but these inherited businesses, once the the heir takes them over, how does he maintain them?"

What if he maintains them well or even better than his predecessor? He still obviously had an advantage--a higher starting point. Privilege that was not earned. Right?

And again, big government is co-requisite of capitalism.

Accumulation of wealth is a necessary prerequisite for the formation of the state. Show me where this isn't the case.

  • if he maintains the business as good or better than his predecessor, than he will multiply his wealth, and he will have earned it.

His starting with a business will not give him the knowledge to run it. Nor will it prevent someone else from getting the knowledge to run it better.

Big Government is not a requisite of capitalism, in fact capitalism requires the opposite. Capitalism is defined by having no government interference besides stopping violence, and enforcing contracts

  • I don't know where you pull this capitalism requires big gov from. While it is true a big government requires a lot of capital formation to be supported, capital formation doesn't "create" a big gov

If I acquire a million dollars, that doesn't "create" a thief to take my money.

And I agree, that a capitalist system produces massive wealth, and thus corrupt bureaucrats will try to take control of it, but it doesn't force them to do so. Nor does it force the people to let them.

  • "And I agree, that a capitalist system produces massive wealth, and thus corrupt bureaucrats will try to take control of it, but it doesn't force them to do so"

What stops them from doing so?

If we somehow managed to get govt. out of business, total deregulation, privatization, no rules, laissez faire de-unionization, what would happen? What would happen to worker rights? What would happen to the few remaining mom&pop shops? What would happen to the middle class?

  • Workers would work for people that offer them the exact value of their work.

Anyone offered less than they are worth, will seek employment else where

Anyone demanding more than they are worth, won't get hired.

And Laissez Faire doesn't remove unions, it only stops government from requiring them. And doing things like card check. And from granting unions special benefits like recently with GM.

And you also forget, there was no middle class before Capitalism.

  • Mom and Pop businesses would have to do what all should have to do. Compete in a free market, where objective value is placed on the value of the services provided.

I don't understand what the benefit is, for rich or poor, big or small. To force people to pay MORE for things, when there are people able to provide the same thing, for less.

If there is someone more able, step up your game, or find a game you're better at.

stated differently, "Get on the train, or get off the tracks"

  • You may also want to take int account, taxes, and regulation tend to be harder for small businesses to handle, and easier for large corporations to handle.

So going to a pure capitalist system would allow Mom and Pop shops to flourish, where in the current mixed economy, they are handed a raw deal, not by their competitors directly, but by their competitors, through their own elected officials

And its because, we think gov should intervene, so they do so, for the group that can pay the most

  • And how could a ruling class not emerge once wealth starts accumulating into a few hands? And who says this class deserves greater wealth and power if they were born into their wealth/position? Isnt being forced to work for a ruling class coercion?

If the workers feel they are being exploited get angry enough &get organized, what would keep these workers from taking over the workplace? You would have to stop them because it belongs to you right? How do you stop them? Force. Coercion. The State

  • Yes we agree, the only proper role for Government is to prevent the INITIATION of force.

Whether that force comes from foreign invaders, or angry workers, or angry businessmen, or from angry Nuns, or from angry old men, or from angry high schoolers.

I am not an anarchist, nor is anyone who advocates laissez faire. There is a proper role for government, and I have just stated it, anything beyond what I've stated is government abuse

  • "Yes we agree, the only proper role for Government is to prevent the INITIATION of force"

If I bought into capitalism. I was only saying that capitalism necessitates force

The only form of government I would advocate is a participatory/direct democracy. No one should get more of a say because they have more wealth & therefore more influence on decisions. Capitalism &democracy don't mix

I'm sure you agree that we don't actually have democracy today. Or do you think that democracy is "mob rule"

  • how does capitalism necessitate force?

  • No, I think democracy is exactly what we have, and that is the problem. We accept that majority rules, period. anything they want, they get, whether it violates the rights of others or not. And yes, I do consider Property Rights to be rights.

And when you say "direct democracy", do you mean like Athenian democracy, where they get together and vote that Socrates shouldn't be allowed to live because they didn't like what he was saying, and he willing drinks the poison?

  • Athenian Democracy =mob rule.

  • Getting a job at their skill level? How about getting a job at all? Youre assuming we have equal opportunity and everyone is starting on a level playing field.

Wages have only increased nominally. Real wages have decreased. There are charts all over the internet on this.

Google minimum wage history and click on Images. Only very recently since the Federal Minimum Wage Act put forth in 2007 have we seen increases. At best, wages have stagnated.

  • Try opening a store and competing with Walmart down the street. Not happening. You would have no effect whatsoever on their profits.

What Im saying is, you would already have to be pretty wealthy in order to compete with monopolies. You have to have an economic advantage over your peers.

Walmart relies on China and child labor to get those low prices so I dont think thats a good thing. Why should I think its a good thing for a powerful corporation to take advantage of struggling people?

  • You are almost right about Wal-Mart. Most people that start a business can't compete with Wal-Mart, why?

Well, in our trade agreement with China, Wal-Mart is given first dibbs on a high percentage of our imports from China.

But that is a legislated Monopoly. Which is the only kind. A government supported monopoly.

I do find it interesting, that you pick a government created monopoly as an example to criticize capitalism, just goes to show you how much mis-information there is about capitalism

  • And before you knock child labor and sweat shops. Just keep two things in mind.

What would happen to those children, if they didn't have those jobs? I believe the word you're looking for, is starve.

And sweat shops, just remember it was Americans working in sweat shops that catapulted us to the worlds dominant Military and economic power.

You see, you can't go from grinding poverty to CEO overnight. It is a process, I'll not force you to learn it, but I would take it as a kindness if you did

  • The ends don't justify the means here. If it weren't for capitalism those kids wouldn't have to be in those sweatshops making worthless crap that we can't get enough of just to supplement their parents income. But I guess it's impossible to say where they'd be otherwise since capitalism has saturated everything for a few hundred years.

And as for those kids in sweat shops getting out of poverty...I don't think its feasible considering their social location.

  • dude, the capitalism vs socialism experiment has been done so many times, all with the same result every time.

The best example, is East and West Germany. Here, we had the same culture, same race, same language, same time period. Only one was turned over to pure socialism, and the other to semi-capitalism.

And just tell me, which side had poverty? Which side had to build a wall to keep there people from trying to escape their socialist paradise, just for a chance to live in a capitalist hell?

  • But you know, maybe you're right. Maybe we are just too free. We've done nothing but abuse our freedom, we shouldn't even have it. So it is a good thing that people like you are around, ready to make sure to take all that freedom away.

I mean, if we're free to trade, and do whatever we want short of force, if we're free to choose, we might make the wrong choice.

Good thing you're around to to tell everyone what to do.

  • Capital actually pushed for bigger government because it benefits them. The need for a strong state comes from capitalism itself to protect private property. They go hand in hand.

It seems like you see it as government corrupting business. I see it the other way around. Big business is the pimp and government the whore. Maybe its a little of both.

So to me it doesnt really matter if Walmart is a legislated monopoly or not. I already knew. I blame capital and government.

  • Capitalism, has no regulation, has no controls, has no legislated benefits

It defends peoples property rights, prevents coercion by physical force, and enforces contract law

You can't blame capitalism for Wal-mart, you can blame government only. They write the laws. THEY write the laws. It doesn't matter which direction the corruption comes from, the politicians are the only ones that can say no.

If they put a price on their favors, someone is going buy them, its just that simple

  • Its better to be born into poverty in the United States, then to be born into poverty anywhere else. Long live captalism...

  • I see what your saying when it comes to the 3rd world but it seems like you're saying that the reason you'd rather be born into poverty in the US is because its capitalist. The US is the only capitalist country? Most nations are capitalist even Mexico & China

I think I'd rather be born into poverty in Sweden (but I don't think they have that there). They are also a capitalist country with an abundance of welfare programs.

But what I want doesn't exist and probably won't for a very long time.

  • Poor Americans are generally poor because they make poor decisions. Poor people call the rich greedy, yet the poor are just as greedy as they have as fast food mentality, (They want it now). So instead of investing they choose to buy now ! Self gratification and lack of money dicipline keeps the poor down. Please stop telling people to store food and buy gold/silver....its not going to help them at all. There better off buying guns and ammo...

  • Poor Americans are generally poor because they were born into a poor family, neighborhood and have shitty schools that dont challenge them and dont believe in the kids. That makes them give up.

If you grew up your whole life being told your stupid or school wont get you out of the ghetto, and your surrounded by real stories that exemplify just that, what does that leave you with? Equal opportunity is a myth. There are people that have made it, but I find they are the rare exception.

  • Thats garbage, I personally know people who were brought up in 3rd world countries, who were lucky to have a pen a paper who have risen above poverty after moving to the states. Poor Americans are complacent and blind to there own freedoms. Ask yourself why so many immigrants do well in any school here in the states, they see and take what born americans take for granted. A poor American would rather buy new pair of Nikes to look cool then purchase a book...don't kid yourself !

  • @truthequality, I agree 100% with you. I am originally from Washington Heights or Hudson Heights in NYC; now living in Ohio. I grew up from a single parent home and on welfare and food stamps. It was very hard. However, the only good thing that came out of my crappy childhood is that I think out of the box so to speak and am preparing for the Depression and Economic Collapse. Growing up poor, I have an idea of what to expect. I'm buying food, water, water filter, junk silver, etc.

  • "instead of investing they choose to buy now !"?

Invest what? They are living paycheck to paycheck! Ok do I invest my $200 check or do I pay the rent, electric bill, or buy food? Of course they have to buy now. And fast food mentality is pervasive through American society

Guns only escalate this situation. If they need help they need to create solidarity among their neighborhood, stick together and start making some demands collectively. They have to realize that they are all in the same boat

  • I take it your an advocate of the living wage....lol. Lets be honest low wage unskilled jobs are there for a reason, to motivate you to better for yourself. Hell I worked 3 jobs and went to barber college,

now I own one of the largerst most successful shops in Tucson, AZ. I take it you'd rather have people retirting from McDonalds.. In a perfect world, yes you would have solidarity and community spirit, I hope your right. But, in the end, it will be the skilled gunmen that will wins out !

  • Some people "better themselves" in ways that don't involve money or their employment. Some have hobby's, families, or causes that are more important to them than entrepreneurship. Why is your set of values more important than theirs?

    Also,

Are you suggesting that people don't deserve a living wage or health care UNTIL they "made it" by your standards?

  • Whatever happend to working hard and making smart decisions like the pioneers before us? They were given nothing, no healthcare, no jobs,...nothing. Yet for some reason people like yourself feel you have a right to everything now without

earning it. This is not an entitlement society.

  • well said, ruralpotter. I do understand the good intentions of bangkokslim's comments, but yeah his mind is still in the "money" enslaved system

  • i agree whats your plan B? see mine b-greenDOTorg
