Naw bro if your trying to play jazz and rudimental type music, you want to use the bounce. Thats how you get the most speed. Your not guna make a basketball bounce faster by picking it up off the ground. Theres a momentum to the sticks and bouncing it will create the best momentum. It all really depends on the drummer though
