Massage does not correct subluxation. Rub it all you want, it is no better than taking a pill to relax a muscle. It still leaves the vertebra misaligned causing damage and ill health. Massage is superficial and temporary.
Isn't that a theory that went away decades ago?? A sublux of a vertebra requries high force trauma like a car accident or fall, and dos not happend by it self.
I suppose you would rather see the child crying and squirming from getting injected with poison from an md's needle. This is just a child that is afraid to be away from his mom and is in unfamiliar circumstances.
This is not wierd. This is helping the child. Do you know if the child is writhing in pain and needs the help to heal or are you assuming this is hurting the child. Think.

I just fail to see how anyone can diagnose a baby as requiring a chiropractor. The only thing in this instance to me is dollars, pounds, roubles or whatever other currency the accept.

It's not cracking bones. The sound heard is cavitation, or a gaseous release that produces a sound. Babies deserve to be healthy too. The way they are pulled from their mothers is reason enough to get each and every one analyzed and corrected upon birth. If you fail to see the reason, then you need to look inside. How does YOUR body heal? From the outside?
If you want to spend a shitload of money on somebody telling you that you need your bones re-aligned etc etc then go for it. Personally I think it is the biggest scam I've ever seen.
What do you know about the profession? I'm confused. Why are you even commenting on chiropractic? It is the most effective and safest (as well as most affordable) health profession in the world.
What has pay got to do with it? How much do pharmaceuticals make for the task of poisoning and killing? Why shouldn't a professional get paid? In my opinion chiros should get way more than they do. No BS here, but I'm concerned with you.

Chiropractors don't crack bones, DA. They move them back toward their healthy position.
