  • What I's like to see it's a playoff between the Motorola Milestone overclocked to 1GHz and with the available Froyo 2.2 update and the Nexus One. By the the way I understand the Milestone can be overclocked to run at an amazing 1.3GHz.

  • 2.01 was updated long ago to 2.1 and will be updated to 2.2 in short notice along with it's younger brother the well Known milestone

  • Keyboard. The main reason I went for the Droid. And I use the keyboard all the time. Though they are both good phones.

  • Every time the Nexus 1 freezes or takes longer loading the video cuts. How about a fair comparison instead of biased video cuts when the N1 does worse...

  • i want to know what is the name of the game in video?

  • Speed Forge 3D

  • @katokimo

True, but with 12mths of warranty as standard, you can clock this baby to 1.3Ghz later on... ;)

Also, did i mention the Cortex A8 processor coincides with a dedicated 3D graphics chip called PowerVR SGX530, the Nexus one doesn't.

Another thing, if you do compare picture/video quality at lab level the colors on the German engineered Milestone are true and not over exerted like the Nexus One, read reviews, Google it.... ;)

  • @jetairteam The Nexus has a terrible touch screen: touch sense and the cheap technology OLED :))

  • @quangbuule

cheap technology than OLED? You know nothing, AMOLED is still the same (slightly superior) technology to OLED on its own. Plus the Nexus One doesnt even have Sense UI..

  • lmao i love how she says its easier to control at 4:50 on the nexus one but she's crashing into the walls on both of the phones

  • Firstly, The Milestone does have Multi-touch/Pinch Zoom.

Secondly, The A8 Cortex is VERY Advanced can clock 1.3Ghz easily !

Thirdly, The Milestone is a SOLID phone, drop the Nexus one and you'll have yourself a nice looking paperweight...

Fourthly, The Milestone has Class 12 EDGE and HSDPA, 10.2 Mbps; HSUPA, 5.76 Mbps, against Class 10 EDGE and HSDPA 7.2 Mbps; HSUPA, 2 Mbps.

Fifthly, The Milestone has Flash 10.1 set in its sight, the 2.1 upgrade and a Qwerty Keypad ! :D

  • but don't you have to root your phone to overclock it? i don't think every one want's to go through the trouble with rooting their phones

  • N1 ya

i love this thing and i love the droid also you can compare the best android phones

    its android vs apple

android wins hands down in my book

  • True that. I can name 3 good reasons why the Nexus One will have that the iPhone 4GS will not support.

    1) MULTI-TASK OF COURSE.

    2) Flash Player or HTML support.

    3) Voice encoding phone

I'm not specifically sure but I'm almost guaranteed the processor of the N1 will still be superior to the iPhone4GS.

  • @stealfz "but I'm almost guaranteed the processor of the N1 will still be superior to the iPhone4GS" Really? How can you guaranty that. When EVEN its competition that is immanently impending from Samsung uses a 1Ghz Coretx that very possibly is faster and runs on a 45mn deature size compared to the snap dragons 65mn. If the Iphone comes out this summer it has a strong chance of using the A9-Cortex which is MUCH faster than this snapdragon.

So forgive my skeptism for your fanboy guarantees.

  • @stealfz

    1) Iphone OS4 has multitasking

    2) No flash true, but HTML support it does have, and all phones has had it for years, or they wouldnt be able to view webpages

    3) No, The snapdragon (nexus one, Htc desire) is a fast processor but not a strong one. It is designed to have high clock speed, but compared to the processor in Nokia N900 or Samsung galaxy S or Ipad its weak. Its like a car and a truck. A car can have more horse power and be faster but it isnt as stronger.

  • nexus one supports the pinch zooming(multi touch)

  • @DJFMBEN so does milestone

  • u have a nice voice

  • i have the droid and love it

  • actually the nexus one does support multitouch in the browser. not sure if the droid does yet, soon though, very soon...

  • Is there a big difference between OLED and LCD? Please only answer if you'd actually compared them.

  • both have their benefits. oled is amazing in good lighting conditions. it has vivid colors and pure blacks. but when its performance in sunlight is not very good. Lcd is better in sunlight. its probably not a dealbreaker though, especially because both of these phones have very hi-res screens. the droid has a slightly hi-res screen though but both are considered WVGA. if you would like to compare at, for example bestbuy, the zune hd features an oled screen.

  • Actually, OLED looks good in sunlight, LED you can't even see.

Got a droid, the only issue is lack of RAM! Always just have an extra 30 or 40 mb.

  • not when using it in direct sunlight. 256mb of ram isnt too bad tho. should be reasonable

  • Yeah I guess it's fine. Do you have a Droid?

I got mine last night and it's still amazing. Dominates my iPod Touch and any other phone really besides the Nexus.

I guess I'll wait 2 years until something is actually a lot better. like you said.

  • I dont have a droid (i wish i did!) but ive used them before and they're awesome! I've had an itouch forever and its just boring now, hopefully 3.2 or 4.0 software well bring something interesting. but i think the dell mini 5 well be my first android device. it looks awesome!

  • Haha yeah I was looking at the Dell. I wonder if it's strong enough to completely illiminate the stutters that android phones get.

Same deal with my iTouch. Even though the Droid can be similar overall it's still like having something totally new.

  • i agree. im looking foward to the dell. its got a lot of potential but dell will have to market it right. i cant wait for it!

  • i like both phones but i did buy the Nokia N900 and i am very happy with it. if i didn't get the N900 i would go with the moto.

  • In all of the online, side by side tests, nobody ever compares call quality? You do talk on these things, right?

  • What? Use a phone for phone calls? That's a thing of the past.

  • lol damn, anyone want to buy a droid this spring?

  • Nexus one is better......AMOLED, 1GHZ Snapdragon (literally futureproof) faster overall. Better 5MP camera with flash (the camera is actually amazing) Droid has a QWERTY but overall, theres no competition. Nexus One is better. Droid only has better service as of right now, but as we all know, Nexus One is also coming to VZW WIN!!!

  • my girlfriend has a DROID, i have an N1. I just switched from my old G1, sooooo glad i did. My gf's DROID has issues...it'll freeze up, clear all her icons, shut itself off for no reason. my N1 is flawless, i'd have sex with it if she'd let me. get the n1!!!!

  • I can't remember the last time Motorola made a phone that lasted longer than 12 months without losing any functionality.

Motorola is crap. I want the Droid for the slide out qwerty... but I don't want to be replacing the phone two days after the one year warranty has expired.

  • @selinamb your just a hater motorola have made some of the best phones in history the sidekick, razor, everyone had those phones..the droid is a great phone way better then iphone and as for nexus its newer but doesnt have a keybord and all those progarms for nexus i have on droid

  • my sister has the droid, the qwerty is crap, it slides out very slowly and feels slimsy, the keys are flat and hard to type on

  • Dude I too, can't live without my qwerty keyboard, but move on past the Droid.

The keyboard on the Droid sucks donkey dick.

Go to the Verizon store and hold one in your hand. You'll see.

  • Ha! You and TwoKidsAndAComputer just add to my statement about Motorola making crap phones. Alas, I do not think I will be hooking up with any Google phones any time soon... even though they are so sexy!

  • Compared to keyboards out there, yes, there's no competition. I have the droid though, as I need the keyboard and after the first day, I can promise you typing on it isn't nearly as awful as you're making it sound. Use the phone for more than 5 minutes before you make such a judgement.

  • Dude, I'm pissed because I waited forever for this thing and it let me down when I finally got my hands on it. But....I'll go back to the Verizon store and try it out again. We'll see what happens. I hope it's as great as you say.

  • @Masowai

they have donkey dicks at Verizon?

  • Motorola WAS crap.

  • droid: well built, hardware qwerty, built it 2.01 eclair

nexus: slightly faster processor, better screen, upgrade to 2.01 eclair

    therefore, droid>nexus

  • @o0th3Jok3R0o ... nexus has 2.1,,, 2.1>2.01

  • I'm really trying to decide. My family and I move to Verizon in June, so I want one of these phones. Both of them are great, and I'm not sure which one to get. But it's pretty much of financial reasons - if the Nexus One is still more pricy than the droid come the summer and out of my budget, I'll get the droid. But if the Nexus One's price drops down and if I have enough $, then I'll get the Nexus One.

I can't see myself making a bad choice with either phones.

  • Motorola is horrible. Absolutely horrible. THen the Motorola Devour. I hate Motorola there phones are made of cheap crap. HTC is way better. ANd Google rocks.

  • @blakeazimmerman Too bad the Droid is solid metal.

  • I totally agree. They make a crap product. 1 yr phones

  • the nexus one seems less responsive compared to the droid concerning the buttons at the bottom of the screen

  • I want a Nexus One BADLY. Come on VERIZON hurry up!

  • droid/milestone wins

  • fuck droid...nexus all the way

  • nexes one FTW!!!

  • Youtube send you the phone right? Like everyone else? For me i think droid is better. its basically the droid but google is making everyone advertise for them

  • troll

  • hey man its the truth lol... u get a free phone but u need to advertise

  • track wheel not for me D; .. my friends sidekick trackwheel broke

  • Hoooooppp offf nexus one dick

  • getting my nexus imported from the us, cant wait!!!

  • When is nexus one coming to Verizon?

  • son no date yet

  • the nexus one is better

  • The droid looks better!

  • do you have to get the nexus one in order to get android 2.1

i mean, can you upgrade the firmware on droid to 2.1?

  • Unless they plan to get out a firmware for Droid. No.

G1 with root can upgrade to the 2.1 firmware thanks to the help of Developers.

  • lol

    "iphoney"

    sounds like

    "i phony"

  • when does the nexus one come out for verizon

  • @800cooler spring

  • thats what im asking...

  • Yeah when is "spring"? The MOST complete answer I've gotten so far is in the 2nd quarter. My best guess after talking to customer service is we will have a more definitive answer after the next android phone is released in March. It will be the "Motorola Devour". Sales are "sluggish" for the Nexus One now, yeah that's bc it's on T-Mobile. Release it on Verizon and see what happens.

  • FYI, if you double tap it will zoom.

  • Updates to 2.1 have it with pinch zoom NOW.

  • MOTOROLA DROID IS GETTING 2.1!!!!!!

yesss i cant waittt droid ftw!!

  • when is this happening?

  • What about sound quality? The Droid is great in this department. How's the Nexus?

  • @config2000

    better lol

  • @config2000 it's great when it's upside down. it has mono sound.

  • Droid is better then the nexus one nexus look guy it looks like it's made if plastic

  • Everything your Droid can do my G1 can do better.

Super D and 10 MB Hack.

Suck it Verizon, T-Mobile, and Google.

  • @EvilMonkeyXV i'll suck on it :D LOL jk

  • Nah.

I'm not a fan of penises. Lol.

  • @brandolayer youre talking about the cover, you cant say Droid is better than the N1 just because of the cover.. Look at the performance

  • FIRST!!!!!!!

  • Well I have my eris don't like it because the hardware is just too slow and outdated but I was wondering if I should get the Nx1 when it's on VZW or Moto Droid

  • AMOLED puts out great color and brightness as well as save battery power instead of drain it which is a really good deal.

On the other side it has bad sunlight quality I myself don't care if it does because i previously had one with AMOLED and have had no problems and only more happiness:)

  • when is the nexus going to come out on verizon?

  • i saw in a another review that hardware wise the (Nexus has a 1GHz processor and 512MB of ram) and the (Motorola Droid has a 550MHz processor and 256MB of ram) .

  • the droid will have 2.1 in a few weaks

  • jan 22nd baby i cant wait!

  • @urahara300

    spelling fail

  • lol i know but who cares.......as long as you knew what i ment lol

  • stop trollin

  • I have the droid and it does lag at times, especially when using google maps. I would have to say that app makes it lagg the most. it seems like the nexus one is faster but it looks lame compared to the droid. Overall I'm glad I bought the droid fuck google! Trying to take spotlight in the cellphone industry. They should've made I the nexus less rounded on the edges those bastards design phones so that you'll drop em' and buy new ones.

  • @zeroxygen u do know that the droid has GOOGLE software, right?

  • Yeah it actually has an OS called the Android OS made by google. i like google i was kidding but yeah anyways.. so the nexus is like 2 seconds faster at bringing up webpages?

  • umm fuck google? turn your droid over look on the back above the battery cover it has the google logo :P

  • everybody in every review ive seen is having trouble with the touch sensitive controls on the nexus 1 lol lamo droid is better

  • lol droid is getting the update so doesnt matter lol will have all te same functionality but do it better lol with the qwerty lol DROID RULES!! but nexus 1 is cool thoe

  • u never had to "swipe up" for the app drawer, u can just tap it.

  • As usual, another great vid. Thanks Lisa!

  • Only thing I like about the Nexus better than the Droid is the screen size. It's slightly wider but you can't tell unless your nitpicking like me.

  • yes u can tell, pretty obvious.

  • Yup, Im gonna say the DROIDs screen is way brighter than that. Go to power controls and set to high. Only time I put on low is when Im at work and really dont use it too much. Set it on high when showing of to my buddies =) Also, DROID will have all the functions of the Nexus One by the end of the month. AND a full QWERTY.

  • nexus is still different even if u increas the droid's brightness, brightness don't mean quality.

  • except ram, processor speed, noise cancellation, video quality, and being made by htc instead of moto, so really it will never be as good as the nexus :)

droid is still a great phone though, dont get me wrong, but nexus is better for all hardware reasons except the keyboard.

  • Qwerty Keyboard is a big deal for most and is always better than onscreen, always. And it's an added bonus when playing games as well. Doesn't take any screen space away for the controls.

DROID is on Verizon. Most reliable network. No dropped calls and fast 3G everywhere. Whats that I heard about Nexus having 3G problems??? lol When N1 hits Verizon in the Spring it will truly be a great phone. Bottom line, both are sweet phones, lets join forces and crap on iphone. =)

  • i agree with everything on the keyboard, and i dont have a nexus, ive got

Black tmobile dev phone 1 (G1) CyanogenMod-4.2.5, Overclocked cpu @ 528mhz with Unlimited apps on class 4 8gb micro sd.

its great, i love the keyboard of the G1, never really liked the droids keyboard, but hey at least it has one. Its better & faster than the droid i assure you.

Now if your droid was running a cyanogen rom itd be a different story.

AGAIN droid is a great phone, but not the best.

  • Dude, switch to Super D.

Fastest ROM I've ever flashed on my G1.

  • never heard of super D, i trust cyanogen cause hes constantly updating and is well known for his custom roms.

what can super D do that cyanogenmod can't ?

and i wouldnt do the 10mb hack cause that takes away from your graphics power, and i like my games.

  • It's a combination of Dwang and Cyanogen.

More RAM + the 10 MB Hack and everything Cyanogen can do.

Makes the phone work a lot faster.

  • Nice try. I'm running 2.1 on my DROID (without a root) and its great, when it officially comes out there won't be anything Nexus does that DROID doesn't.

The materials in the DROID are superior to the Nexus One's plasticness. Seriously, google iSuppli and see for yourself.

DROID's 3.7" display is made with Gorilla Glass, look it up. =) Nexus not so much. Hope you got your screen protectors...

  • the nexus one has a metal bar running around the bottom of it, and the inside is structurally stronger than anything Motorola has ever made.

AGAIN no offense the droid is a great phone, but aside from having a real keyboard, the Nexus is better. That report about isuppli u had me read was a waste of time. it said the droid cost $13 more to make, big deal. i dont care about the screen being a lil stronger (itd be nice) but if u dont drop it why does that matter?

    SNAPDRAGON, 512 RAM.

  • also $35 of the droids cost were them getting ripped of for a 16gb micro sd (15 on ebay)

take away that and give it a 4gb like the nexus comes with, and the Nexus One costs more to make. NEXT

  • @GSPwner so since u have android 2.1 on ur droid does it have the microphone on the keyboard like the nexus one? just curious

  • How about battery drainage on highest brightness setting?

  • Im actually quite impressed with the battery on the DROID. I always have mine on the highest brightness and use it a lot everyday. I charge it once everynight.

  • I don't mean to nitpick at your quality of reviews, but in the future when doing UI reviews, could you please do it in a dark room so that the only light in the room is being emitted from the phone, as its a bit difficult at times to see what's going on. Apart from that, nice review.

  • I'm confused how gaming could be smoother on the N1 when you claim they are around the same framerate. Not to mention, not 2 seconds after you uttered this contradiction, the N1 skips about 10 frames while playing that game it supposedly plays smoother. Also, did you time the N1 to know it loaded the game faster? I didn't time it, but neither seemed to load the game any differently. All in all, the Droid looked to be basically the same performance as the N1.

  • It doesn't skip any frames while playing the game on either phone.. she was hitting walls and shit and it made the camera go all weird, it didn't skip any frames lulz.

  • Comment removed

  • Lol -.- why did you remove your comment if what I said is "BS"

  • @MobileTechReview

One thing I'd like you to know about the N1 is that while it does have twice the ram of the droid, there's currently a memory limitation in the current linux kernel that's limiting the ram to about the same as the droid- an update soon will increase it to it's maximum of 512, or about an extra 100-150MB available to the system.

The extra speed is from the processor alone at this point =P (01/11/10)

Nice video! glare doesn't really do the screens justice unfortunately =(

  • @ 6:36 nexus one fail

  • @javicilic Yea they are having problems with the home button :(

  • thats cause u cant just tap it real fast with the tip of your finger. touch buttons require you to press some, and leave it there a lil longer than what he was

  • one thing that isn't mentioned, but worth noting is that all those different menus on the nexus one, will be on the droid (and milestone) in the near future, as it is confirmed from motorola to be getting updated to 2.1

  • u suck at those video games

  • is that really the brightest setting on the screens?

Cause that really isnt that good on any of them..

  • @lekland she has brightness all the way down. It has a very bright screen but i leave the brightness down just like she does. saves battery

  • well that doesn't seem like a very bright idea (haha) to have in a review, especially when the viewer is supposed to see what the device is capable of. And when it is a fact that OLED´s have brightness issues in direct sunlight this might discourage people from the N1.

  • ive been waiting for a comparison between these two! thanks!!

  • black screen

  • love your work lady!
