i think you took the wrong route to cross the boarder as there are 3 routes to go, the one which you chose was the one with the motorway which you were not meant to ride there, hence they stopped you. next time you gotta choose the other 2 routes to go and it is allowed to ride there

I can't tell what border this is, but I think this is one of the Lok Ma Chau borders, which I don't think you are allowed to ride a bike across.

I think the most likely borders you are allowed to cross on a bicycle are the Man Kam To and Sha Tau Kok borders.

Maybe it is just me, but that officer didn't really do something wrong...

If somebody would be cycling on a motorway (The place you were cycling didn't really look like a suitable place to cycle) and then wants to cross the border, wouldn't you also make him stop? I think they forced you to take a bus for your own safety because you were cycling on a motorway. But that's only my opinion.
