Oh Good Lord - these negative comments below are by people who have no idea what they're talking about. As a devotee of Hendrix, Stockhausen, Beethoven and Nine Inch Nails I can absolutely appreciate your work. Also Bill Duckworth is a friend of mine :). Bravo.
I've been wanting to learn the violin for a long time, and someone suggested I pick up an electric violin, so I searched youtube for some examples of it.
This totally turned me off to the electric violin, I gotta say.
Hmm.. i don't really like to leave bad comments, but better take this as constructive critique:
- You might want to work more on getting a decent sound. Overdrive on the violin can be amazing or absolutely obnoxious...
- Your solos would be more interesting if they had some kind of shape. Making random noise is ok but only as long as you can get back to something stable (at this point I'm turning the audio of the vid off...)
- Try being more original, melodically as well as technically
daaaaammmmn goooood - crazy - but good!! :D 1. Your reading my comment 2. Now your saying/thinking thats a stupid fact. 4. You didnt notice that i skipped 3. 5. Your checking it now. 6. Your smiling. 7. Your still reading my comment. 8. You know all you have read is true. 10. You didnt notice that i skipped 9. 11. Your checking it now. 12. You didnt notice there are only 10 facts Copy and paste to 1 video, tomorrow will be your best day ever! no matter what
As an amateur violinist, I know a talented and versatile violin player when I see one. The combination of acoustic-sounding notes and metal riffs makes this very interesting.
it sounds somewhat awful cuz its well... sorry to say this but its the sound of a guitar that sustains its scratchy note, which only sounds good as a brief tone
Come on... have you guys ever thought how difficult it must be to do what she's doing??? besides, she's doing something completelly different from all those blah blah blah we all see people doing with the violin!! This woman is terrific!!!!
Oh, come on, that guy isn't doing anything cool and he has a whole band behind him. Ritsu is holding the stage all by herself and doing original stuff to boot.
u sure? i think its just the camera.... the quality isnt that good.... then again it is a live performance in an echoing concert hall lol, maybe thats what u and i r hearing
i think the first part i purple haze by hendrix by hendrix... the second art is definitely whole lotta love by led zep, then there's something that i can't recognize, and then there's some voodoo chile by hendrix again, and then i couldn't recognize the last part... i couldn't recognize any malcolm young either but i hope that you could use this^^
oh yeah, if you haven't heard the songs already, do yourself a favor and do it...
Well I won't be buying a violin anytime soon - just don't have the money, and I'd better practice some more on the guitars I've spent money on already - but it *is* bloody amazing. I'll at least pull my loopstation out tomorrow.
it reminds me of the process i go through when i want to paint something or draw. just like if my thoughts had sounds.
The tvs rock lol xDD makes me think of RENT for a second. and everything just feels liek it's in this bubble. like vibrating! ready to burst with lots of weird colors and pictures and stuff xDD so cool.
I'll prolly have it buy the end of the month... getting a CR-5 so my doubling is easier... wireless for church... (prolly an Airline Synth...) and a yummy Digitech 355 for experimenting... yeah... my teachers from college will prolly have heart attacks... :D
HAH. we are about to move into an apartment... two kids under 6, electric guitars, bass, violin... all my acoustic instruments... my husband's workstation... yeah... problems... lol. heh.
yes, the original signal (played live) is processed thru a TC Electronics G-force, looped on an Echoplex, then multitracked using the Echoplex's multi and overdub functions.

Does it sount to you like a guitar? To me it sounds like a completely new instrument playing a familiar song... and both sound great to me, by the way.
Nicely done. Most folks aren't familiar with the use of reverb, and distortion outside of the guitar, but definately interesting and moving music none the less.....
It's an electric violin, designed by Eric Jensen in Seattle Washington. He used guitar tuning pegs because they fit better on the "wrong" side of the neck. The shoulder rest is mounted into the back of the violin with an allen wrench.
oh come on dude, be a little open minded. Musical instrument genres have been mixed forever, this isn't the first time stuff like this has been done and it's not the last, it'll keep evolving and getting better.
it's a shame electric violin is so seldom used in popular music. the sound it makes is utterly gorgeous. i suppose if I ever make a famous band (don't expect anything btw) it'll be on my agenda to include it.
