@Vorpal Yea but i have played the fan translating and the team that did it made a lot of spelling errors and never finished the translating not with the subtitles but in the combat system and chapter parts

@ResidentFortress2 I agree, but it's still a lot better than nothing. There's always the alternative method of looking up a script translation and having to reference that as you play the game.

Still, there's a part in the translation where one option overlaps into both dialogue selection boxes, and another where all the choices are blank. I thought it was pretty funny.

@Colddirector there is a version in snesorama that is at 95% if i remember well, i have it and its pretty good, some glitches can be found but nothing that can spoil your gameplay. The ending is translated too, some symbols are still in japanese thats why the 95%..

Actually the reason why the US will never see this game is because of Namco's dumb selves. The game was actually rumored to be coming, but Namco had the rights to publish it and decided not to because they thought the characters were too obscure.

Which is BS since at least half of the characters in the game are well known.

This really is an amazing game. There are numerous translation guides out there that, surprisingly, are very easy to follow. So you don't have to worry about not being able to read japanese. you'll quickly become accustomed to the menus and what they do, so thats not a problem either. I'd definitely recommend picking this game up if you can. Good story, great characters, incredibly fun and addicting gameplay.

The patch is in beta stages. I'm not sure about the X button commands since I haven't tried it, but they mentioned that they had to remove the subtitles from the intro due to audio problems, so I assume it's the same with battles.

It was made in limited stock for the PS2 I have the Dreamcast version and it was like $40 then, on ebay. The PS2 version runs for 50-60 bucks used. Brand new you're looking at 100+.

this is like super robot taisen or any kind of turn based strategy like fire emblem, except that you have a "tales of" fighting style where you mash/tap buttons for massive combos. as for the combos (multiple assault), no button tapping is necessary and you can just watch your two/three characters do some major area damage.
