  • ur a tad fast i think but you're amaazing, i have to do this for my 5th grade and i absolutely suck at it....waaa. lol.

  • Thank you!

  • this is the third video of this song that I see and this is the one of the better ones. the music i have has almost no slurs or tied notes and every single one of the songs i heard have almost all slurs or tied notes...is it just up to my interpretation?!

  • Your quality of sound is perfection. I did feel that your dotted notes were slightly rushed and ahead of the accompaniment. That aside, It made me want to weep. Your breathing is faultless and the whole performance flowed like cream. Will you marry me?

  • I played this for a festival.

    You're so good.

    Wish I played like this!!

  • Wow.

    Amazingly beaytiful :)

Im playing this piece in a competitive festival in may =/, so im using your playing as a reference :D

Wish me luck in the festival ;]

  • wow... that's like, profesional playing(at, or almost, I can't really tell, but you're one of the best flautists I've heard, and you're better than me so)

  • You have a good strong tone

  • Soooo beautiful, with all the deep emotions,it's just too beautiful :)

  • Amazing! I love everything you added to the piece. Keep up the good work!

  • Impressionist music is so amazing...

  • brill

  • coming from a flute major - your tone is amazing! keep it up!

this is one of my favorite pieces, and you do a nice job with it : )

  • very,very nice tone!

ignore all these tempo freaks - they don't know what they're talking about, there is no one single best tempo

  • great sound and the tempo is fine. katie522 is right on about

galway and even though i appreciate his other great skills, his

sound is maybe the worse i've heard

  • I have a Schirmer Instrumental Library for the Flute with piano accompaniments which is played at about 54 to the dotted quarter. The demo version with flutist is the same speed.

Sounds about right to me. After all it is marked Allegretto molto moderato so it certainly shouldn't be any faster than that.

No speed changes are marked by Faure but obviously you don't play it like a metronome.

It needs mf, mp, pp etc. of course.

But you have a great sound.

  • you're not correct in tempo

  • What is the tempo supposed to be then? This is played at the speed indicated on the sheet music that I have. It seems that the general consensus is that I'm playing it too quickly. The odd thing is, is when I have heard this played live by a professional, they play it MUCH quicker than this, like about dotted quarter at 50. As for the tempo not being consistent, I'm just trying to follow the backing as best I can, as it changes tempo throughout, even though I tried to remove those tempo changes.

  • yes, the tempo of sicilienne is much faster. Try to play it on your own or with a pianist and don't depend on the computer, trying to keep up with it. You will be improved and feel the passion that's within the piece. Good luck!!!

p.s.. Sorry if I sounded hursh on my first comment...I didn;t mean to offend you, just to help you become better musician!

  • I wasn't offended, I honestly didn't know:) I'll put up another rendition of it with the different tempo when I get a moment, see how it works out:)

  • hope you work it out! good luck again!

  • I'm 15 but I've heard this song by various artists on CDs and such. I had my first regionals piece and I played this I ended up taking it to state too, unfortuneatly I got a 2 there. In my oppinion the great thing about beinga soloist is that you can do whatever the heck you want! Take it at a tempo that feels comfortable and pretty. I think you played it marvelously. Be a soloist! Take it at a comfy tempo, ignore them!! I took it at dotted quarter equals 48! And the judges liked it so ha!

  • Trying to respond, but having difficulty. What is the tempo supposed to be? I'm playing it at the tempo indicated on the music. As for changes in tempo, I'm trying to follow the accompaniment, as it has tempo changes all over the place in it. I tried to remove them with my music software, but it seems as though I couldn't fully remove them, and I had a hard time following.

  • I really don't think it needs to be faster. I appreciate that you are not like James Galway in trying to play everything as fast as possible, often without regard to the compser's original intentions. I played this flute part with my school's chamber orchestra, and we played it about the same speed... Without the ornamentation obviously though, lol...

  • it's beautiful!

  • Hi good playing! where did you get the backing track as i cannot find it any where

  • I downloaded the MIDI file off of the internet. The accompaniment is well arranged, but for some reason, there are tempo changes in it. I even went through it with a composition program and removed all of the tempo changes that appeared, but it sounds like I didn't remove them really, because this accompaniment was hard to follow. Thank you for the compliment:)

  • your sprinting

    and the recorded orchestra

    is takin a sunday stroll

  • tempo...

  • TEMPO

  • Good, but try to listen to the music. You are too fast. I mean you running.

    But good sound!

  • Great sound!

  • oh yea, another thing, can u tell me where u got the backgroudn music from? greatly appreciated it. i need for kiwanis haaha

  • i play alright. but my teacher says i need to calm down. cause like when i'm not calm, u know how audience hears that. and it sux. advice advice advice!

  • ahh thank you sooo much..this is my solo and i just got it today...im gonna use this video as a guide :]

  • Thankyou for sharing your music- and great choice on music!

  • Absolutely beautiful. Its been a long time since I've played this piece, I've never heard it with a full accompanient. Lovely lovely :D. Welldone!

  • thank you for posting this, i practice off it. it sounds really good

  • Yeah, I noticed that, too. It was pretty hard to follow, and I even went through the MIDI file and tried to take out all of the tempo changes that were in it. Thank you for the compliment:)

  • Nice!!!!

  • Thank you so much! It's nice to get a comment that's not spam, huh?:) I've been getting alot of that lately, and my relatives and friends have noticed that with YouTube as well.

  • great job, I would like to know as a violist where to get orchestral Acc. MP3 like the one you used.

  • I actually found a MIDI file on the internet, and then I open it up with MIDI software, and have it played through my musical keyboard for the accompaniment. The only problem with that is sometimes it is hard to find a decently written midi file, some of them open up really strangely in the program, and they aren't very usable:)

  • Very nice! I have it in my solo book and can't wait to learn it too. Thanks for sharing.

  • Great Job, a little more work needs to be put in to the support of the piece. But really fantastic. The best thing you have played so far. :D

  • i love this piece i played it for my grade 5 i think??!!?? anyway you play really well ive lost the music for this so i cant play it:( so its nice to hear it.

  • Ahahaha i have this song.. Jeez but you make it sound good

  • Oh another comment, you jazzed it up I can tell. ^^

  • ^^ Nicely done but at the begging it sounded like you were speeding. I'm playing this song (similar to this song) at the FYAO ^^

  • Felicitaciones. Excelente sonido. ¿en que página web encuentro pistas musicales para flauta?. ¿Alguien sabe?

  • your really good i played this for my gcse music practical exam... i love it!!

  • Merci.

  • sounds so pretty!!I like the music with the bright tune and a little blue feeling inside =)Keep it up

  • Thank you, and I shall:)

  • Oh my gosh! This is great. I, too, am currently playing this; I have a performance on Monday w/a taped second flute instead of piano. It's the exact same arrangment as this.

Beautiful sound! If you have any more Fauré, please post!

  • You're amazing.

    It's truly beautiful piece.

Please send me message when you upload a new one! I keep missin them! Thanks

    Your fan, Ben

    Ryan
