Oh and I heard somewhere that walkers like that hurt babies hips but we have one too. We also got a push things similar to a stroller and Annuh loved it til she got used to walking by herself.
@DDScene I know. Our pediatrician warned us about old wives tales in regards to babies walking. To compress a really long conversation we had after a friend told us that if the baby starts walking before they are one year old they will have "bowed legs". Our pediatricians response: "an old wives tale. When the baby is ready to walk, they will walk. It comes down to have they developed the muscles necessary for walking? And when they have, they will."
Mine was walking with a walker around seven months, and she started taking steps at ten. Now she's meandering everywhere and climbing on the couches and falling off the couches. Do you have a video about climbing babies?
@DDScene No video yet about climbing babies. I sort of missed that one. My daughter is at the stage where she likes to take flying leaps off couches. Truly terrifying. My only recommendations are to keep a close eye on her, put corner protectors on sharp furniture corners and buy extra pillows to put under the things she likes falling off of. That's what we did with Alex. Pretty soon your daughter will be driving you crazy running around and pulling out drawers, stuff off shelves, etc. Fun!
PS: you have to read the eldest message (third down) so they make sense! LOL! (some sense at least as I've now read some of my typos and incorrect grammar! Oops!! - sorry! LOL!). :)
@tamaras82 Wow! A comment puzzle! :D Thank you for the wonderful comments! Is she standing up on her own yet? I think the best place to start if you have a small apartment is buying small boxes or fuzzy squares that the baby can pull themselves up to a standing position on. You can help her practice this by giving her a little assistance and then doing less and less. Once she's standing just stay a few feet away from her and convince her to walk towards you. She'll do it soon enough. Ml, Dare
@cluelessfather Mine stands up by herself holding onto something since she was 6 months old. She started standing up not holding onto anything since end of June. She crawls really well (and fast!) and stands up by herself no problem (even with nothing to pull herself up). I know walking is so close, I just haven't asked her to do it because the space isn't good for practicing :S I'll try just teaching her to fall on her butt insetad of forward and that way the space shouldn't be a problem! :S
@tamaras82 Also remember that most pediatricians will state that it is more important for them to learn to crawl really well then to start walking early. Having more space does encourage them to get around it faster = walking, but if they haven't mastered standing up first, that's the best place to start! THAT BEING SAID, I CAN'T WAIT TO SEE A VIDEO OF HER WALKING! :D Be sure to PM me when you post it! Ml, Dare
@cluelessfather I posted a video response of Lessy standing so you can see how she balances herself. When she starts walking I'll upload it and PM you. Meanwhile for her to start I think we'll try to make the space where she is most of the time more learning-to-walk-friendly (get rid of as much furniture as possible!). And teach her to fall on her butt instead of forward as that could be dangerous with all the close walls, doors, and things! Thanks for your reply! Keep posting videos!
I try not to (compare) and also to not batter myself to hard for not being able (yet) of give her everything she needs (safe large space needed urgently!). I will soon, and meanwhile she will have to learn to bounce off walls and grab onto furniture! I guess there is a plus side?! Ummm maybe not! LOL! I'm certain she'll learn and manage just fine regardless of the obstacles!! Will upload video when she does!! :)
Seems my message was cut! is there a character limit?!
Don't know exactly what I had written but I will finish here: I do know she'll start very soon. Too soon for us as it means more pressure on finding another place, as when kids are learning to walk they need space to safely fall down and this place is definitely not appropriate!!
Anyway, I like the comment that all kids are different and we should never compare them to others. I try not to (compare) and also to not batter myself to hard fo
OMG I absolutely love this video! First because the whole family appears, second because I'm so proud of your amazing daughter, and can see the total pride and happiness in your faces! And last because that's the point where my baby is at! Unfortunately for her our house is tiny and there isn't really room for her to practice her walking freely & safely (furniture, doors & walls too close everywhere!) and obviously if no practice it's hard to master the skill!! LOL! I'm in no hurry though, I do
hmm.. i read that it's not advisable to put baby inside the walker for safety reasons and that they tend to walk late instead. but your baby is genius. she's giving me an idea. but wait a minute, did you mention that she started walking at 6 months? wow, that's just so advanced. my baby is already 6 months now and still trying to stand up on her own.
@nYang0612 HI! I really have found that every baby is different. There are some things that I think my daughter is lagging behind on although I know she is advanced in other areas. I really try to discipline myself in not comparing my daughter to other children but just letting her be who she is. Youtube makes that really tough with all the baby genius videos you see posted like that 2 year old who plays the piano! Sheesh! Congratulations on your baby girl by the way! Have a great day! Dare
Totally awesome! You're reaction was priceless :) I don't think there's any reason to limit a baby's development... if they are ready to walk they will start trying, you know? I ran into quite a few concerned parents after Emily turned one. One mom even had a 20 month old who wasn't walking. Most have babies around 1 and worry that their kids aren't developing "right". I always tell them that every baby is different, they'll walk when they are ready. No reason to stress out about it. Great video
WoOoOo HoOoOo !! *HI5* Baby Girl !!!! *Whispers* Hey Dad ! You do know she was supposed to be ''IN'' the walker right?? heh heh heh - Sorry couldn't pass that up ; P ... All of mine started that early which seemed odd being that they r still so tiny - LOVED the video clips = ) & Your Wife is so Lovely ! Would u mind if I ask what your daughters name is??? I understand if u would rather not say I just feel bad not addressing her by it....GREAT JOB U 2!! & CONGRATS on such a wonderful Milestone !
@OZARKCOTTONTOP Thanks so much! Her name is Alexandria Sophia aka the light of my life. I'm really proud of how well she's doing. She's supposed to start school tomorrow which has me super jittery...
@OZARKCOTTONTOP Message from my daughter: "Why thank you Mrs. Tamerah! I blow an air kiss in your direction!" and she wants to know if you are having a boy or a girl, I've told her it'll be a few months yet before we know.
@cluelessfather Awwwhhhh !!! Why thank you ! I LOVE air kisses from angels Miss Alexandria ! How did your first day of ''school'' go ?? ....... I personally don't have the desire to find out the gender However Mr Duncan would really like to know = ) either way I am sure it will be around Christmas when the next ultrasound is done & we will be able to know one way or the other .... Hope you & your family have an AWESOME Day ! = )
