Sephiroth is a product of Lucrecia and Hojo's little experiment. The insane scientist injected a pregnant Lucrecia with Jenova cells... or was it mako..? Jenova, I think. Anyway, Sephy got his good looks from mommy, not daddy (thank the gods). So, no, Vincent is not the father. Vinny no lay it down on Lucy! Vinny not the baby's daddy! Sephy is, gosh darn it! Why is everyone still stuck on this?!?

This is the most epic scene in FF7 universe. Well at least the most quoted one. It's nice to see a tribute in CC, after so many flashbacks in FF7. And the music... just makes everything look like a dream. One of those you wish so bad to be part of and never want to awake.

Also, when Sephiroth asked Cloud how does it feel to have a hometown, Cloud was probably thinking something like: "O.M.G!!!!!!!!SEPHIROTH IS TALKING TO ME!!!!!!!!!!OMGOMGOMG!!!!" Kinda like an obsessed Sephiroth fangirl when you show her his picture (NO OFFENSE.JUST KIDDING).

Sephiroth is the definition of cool. They need to preserve the villainy of his character by having him say as few things as possible. The more sociable we see him as, the less mysterious he is.

He should just impress the shit out of us, destroy stuff, and say things that creep us out. Once we establish that his original character is neutral/friendly, that's it. Don't over expose that.

Just some thoughts.

Especially with the Nibelheim remaster going on in the background, the sudden stiltedness of Sephiroth's speech, his mysterious movements mirroring the little polygonal FFVII character's... it's so spooky. It suddenly didn't feel like Crisis Core anymore, or the Sephiroth who laughed and said "maji da" when he told Zack he'd "fail" to kill Angeal. It's sad to think he slipped so far from that and became the villain we first met in FFVII... :(

It's the same guy (George Newbern) that did Seph's voice for AC (which I liked), but his voice is a lot higher in CC. Some say it's b/c Seph is younger, but ADULTs voices don't change that dramatically over a few years' time, so heightening his tone was unnecessary IMO. I like Seph w/a deep, dark, calm and sinister voice (even as a good Seph). He's SUPPOSED to sound intimidating. ;)

In Final Fantasy VII, Sephiroth said the same thing. But I didn't play the first game so I didn't know he laughed there. So I wonder if he did know if it was Hojo the Hobo, or if he was going to say "also late" or "divorced" or something.

He regarded Prof. Gast as his father. In the FF7 game he talks about him w/a kind of affection. "Prof. Gast why didn't you tell me anything? Why did you die?"...later telling Cloud (Zack) "Prof. Gast, leader of the Jenova Project and genius scientist produced me." He thinks Hojo is somewhat of an imbicile mocking that Hojo is but a shadow of the scientist that Gast was. He probably would've killed Hojo had he known the truth. That wouldn't have been a bad thing. :D
