I am curious why you would use a satin-finish paint for this. If the point is to turn this into chalk paint by adding baking soda, wouldn't a flat paint be better?
@itsludekris doesnt' really make a difference what the finish of the paint is. I just use satin on lots of other projects and happen to have a lot of it on hand.
Protect your shoulder/elbow/wrist joints by using a sander when ever you can. The last time I hand-sanded, I ended up having pain in my shoulder and upper arm. Nothing showed up on xray (which xrays don't show everything anyway). My arms helped me make a living all of my work life. Now, I've got to be easy on them so I can continue to use them without pain. I do believe it's a question of not enough lubricant in the joints.
Yes, you have raised a very good point! It is best never to press too hard on the sander, as this will help to cut down on the strain on your hands and joints.
I have done a great deal of sanding in my time so know how you feel.
@SensaiMan I might just do that, but I grew up with tales of my mother having to take it when she was a kid. One of my aunts especially hated it and stored it in her mouth instead of swallowing it and once out of sight, she spit it into her hands and wiped it all over a brand new wallpapering job my grandfather had just completed. Maybe they have it in capsule form now, lol!
@SensaiMan I also saved your blog to my favorites. I stated reading it and noticed your comments about teachers not being qualified. Some of us exceed the skill level of our teachers by only using our instincts. You immediately know when they're not up to the task when teaching something. Many of them are not good teachers - period.
Hello again, and thank you for book marking my Blog.

Glad that you agree with me about some teachers! You sound a little like myself we have be be able to do everything, and help those that can't do things for themselves.
Perhaps we are just smart people?
Well you have much to read on my Blog! And there is a link by email should you have equiries.
Do you need to sand the furniture or strip it before painting over it?

@scarina7 if the piece has paint on it already it will need to be stripped. if not a light sanding will do.

Try Cod liver oil for your joints.

Hi yes you can purchase capsules from a chemist in the Uk, and sure that you can buy them in most Countires around the world.
We all had the liquid form as kids, and ran away when it was time to take.
I see from your channel that you are a Crafts person, you have a good skill to be able to do such things.
Check out my Blog! Google: andrewsfrenchpolishingforum
