Is there a super secret to getting the game to register light putts? Even with the motion plus the same problem exists from the original Wii sports Golf, you must swing longer and harder than in real life or the cartoon club does not move at all.

I had this problem as well, but found out how to get rid of it. Stand facing your TV with your Wii remote in your hand, buttons facing away from your side. Then swing and you should hit it just right.

The only difference is that most people will tell you Mario is a classic title. No one will remember wii sports, its just a gimmicky title to sell the new motion idea. It has no redeemable qualities about it. Mario was one of the first platformers ever and it actually got people into gaming and it helped Nintendo succeed. The icon of Nintendo is Mario. No one called it a casual title because there werent many hard core titles out then.

Well no, the arcade version of Donkey Kong (which had the prototype of Mario in it) was one of the first platformers. But mario is without doubt the most successful and iconic platformer of all time. You're crazy if you think "hardcore" games didn't exist back then. They were just in different forms, but as I've said there was a significant split in users between the NES and PC. PC's were 16 bit at this point in time while the NES used a processor from the 70s. PC owners, especially after the 83 crash, CONDEMNED video games in the same way most 360/PS3 owners condemned the Wii. Super Mario Bros, The Legend of Zelda, all of them, were considered casual junk back then by PC gamers.

When people go out and buy a Wii, Wii Sports Resort is one of the MAIN games that goes in that basket. Not Mario Galaxy, not Zelda, but WSR, Wii Play, along with Mario Kart among others.
