The likes of the Cagiva and NSR cost about as much, if not more to buy than the GS500, but the GS500 will still be clocking up the miles years after the Cagiva and NSR are dead and burried. Those rapid 125s maybe fast, but by god, do they give you problems. I'll stick with my bullet proof GS500 thanks.

Pre 1996 models have just over 50hp, and the newer 2000+ models have just under 50. Which is not bad considering its price :D

@TheHollowaySmuggler Also the earlier model, which is what I have, were better built and made in Japan. The later models were made in Brazil. I had a Brazilian built CG125, and to be honest, it was gastly in terms of build quality. The earlier GS500s are better.

@vergil51414 The max power is at 9000rpm! rev higher and the power will drop. I tested it with my gs and it really is true! the best acceleration is to max 10000rpm.

@0rizla0 on mine i could get it to 90 without pushing it to hard but think 100 was the fastest i had it, with the restriction out it could do 100 easily but can go faster think i had it up to just below 115. brilliant first bike tbh moved onto sport bikes myself now
