I regret buying this shit on Gamecube. I should have gotten it for PS2 instead. You really have to be a "no life, gaming nerd" to play these games. Megaman 2 and up are quite challenging if you're new to the vintage style of game play these things have. I personally enjoy the X collections much more than these titles.
You should get the PS2 version. The first version I got was the Gamecube version, but that was a long time ago (it was in 2005). I don't like the Gamecube version because in that version, in order to jump, you press the B button instead of the A button (which makes you shoot with your buster). Also, the music in Megaman 8 on the Gamecube version sounds totally wrong! So yeah, you should get the PS2 version. Don't ever make the same mistake I did. D:
I was hoping for more of a look into how this collection functions as a compilation of the original games, not a walk through of the series' history...
One thing I noticed in this video the numbers of the game's titles on the title screen are all messed up! They shouldn't look flat, what happened there?
Still, it's either import this, or stick with the PAL Virtual Console's crummy 50hz versions. I think I'll take this.
As far as I know, the GC version had the problem with the music in MM7 & 8 as you mentioned. I own the Xbox version, and as far as I know, the music ported well on that version. Also, the controls are better mapped than the GC version. ^_^
There are two versions of MM8 in existence, the Sega Saturn version and the Sony Playstation version, which is the version included in the collection. Both versions of the game have their differences, mainly that the Saturn version featured bonus boss battles with Cutman and Woodman. The Sony version came packaged with a booklet containing images of all the Robot Masters up to that point (possibly info too, I dont know since I only ever played a PS1 rental copy that lacked the bonus book)
@ImpulseKid86 Well thanks to the morons of Atomic Planet Entertainment (how appropriate there logo is a chimp) unlike MMX collection (done by Capcom) you can't config the controls but I found a way around that buy buying a SNES Retroport from Retrozone's website to plug my SNES gamepad into the Gamecube now I press Y to fire and B to jump plus I get the auto fire feature from my SNES Ascii Pad plus I can config the buttons for MMX collection to that of the original SNES ones.
@ImpulseKid86 Ah, I see. I was so confused. I was like: ''Its not like the video got a lot of dislikes!'' Thnx for clarifying and you have some well done videos!
@ImpulseKid86 To get around the button issue RetroUSB (aka Retrozone) has made a SNES Retroport controller adapter that plugs into the Gamecube controller port allowing any SNES controller to be used as a GC Pad Mega Man NES games and Mega Man 8 Y can be used for fire and B to Jump (since the idiots swapped A and B around and you can't config the controls at all) however Mega Man X Collection does allow control config and games can be mapped to the SNES pad like the MMX SNES games
the onley thing i disliked about this video was you pernounced "bass" wrong.because when i was watching the little anime part, megaman said it different.but the rest of this video is perfect....3942502945/5
I always thought it was pronounced "base" given the musical puns involved in naming the character and his wolf-bot sidekick. But that's just me. Thanks for the comment, glad you liked it so much :D
It is pronounced "Base" the reason Mega-Man said it as it is spelled is because the voice actor for Mega-Man apparently thought that was how it was said. That's why his wolf is named Treble.
@superbrawl64 No, it is actually pronounced Base, MegaMan 8 just has a bad dub. But then again I could be wrong and it could be pronounced Bass, and Dr. Wily could be pronounced Dr. Wiwrey
Ive been playing megaman 2 on the virtual console and the music is heavily slowed down because its PAL. Is the collection you own PAL and if it is, is the music slowed down?
i played megaman two on that collection and their were a few ... ummm... idiosyncracies? with the game. i can't remember them but it put me off a little as i had grown up with megaman 2.
According to KWing's Mega Man 2 review, some of the lasers dont come back in Quick Man's stage. In his words: "Thank God, the developers cut you a break" lol.
their are also differences in the diffuculty settings. a few enemies don't appear in normal mode for it. and the can guys still explode at you as if it were on difficult...
thanks dude I really like megaman games plus the fact I have created a moveset for him for the next SSB game that I know will come out in the next years.
I just bought this on ebay today for $15 i can't wait for it to come in.

2:04 Epic Music starts. No offense to Impulse Kid but I really wanted to hear more of MM7's intro stage theme instead of his voice

I noticed two things wrong that you said.
1. Mega Man 5 didn't introduce the teleporter room, Mega Man 2 did.
and 2. Fan-created robot masters were in Mega Man 3 first, not Mega Man 6.

@glovestrong48
If fans created the robot masters in MM3, that could mean that a kid created Hard Man XD
