  • Great Tutorial, easy to follow. I'll check out your other videos to see what else I don't know my Mac can do.

  • Wow, thanks. That has helped me a lot in figuring out what automator can do, and how to use it. Before I was plain confused about how to use it. And it helps that you aren't a 13 year old talking about this stuff, as said by inkybinky786.

  • Wow!!! This is simply great!!!

  • Mine doesnt have application menu

  • once you make a new app can you change the thumbnail of the new app from the normal automator picture to a different one that you would want?

  • Thanks for the vid, it really cleared up the use of automator for me.

  • hi is there any way to make the automator repeat a step over and over.... i know i can copy and paste the step but i would like it to repeat thousands of times (when i start copying and pasting it lags like hell any ideas? ) thanks

  • where do i download?

  • Automator comes with mac

  • grazie!

    this helped a lot.

  • thx man....

  • THUMBS UP!

  • thanks man

  • Not bad, Now what about using automator with bigger programs like imovie to make all clips have the same color adjustment?

  • Not a bad idea, but I'm not planning on making anymore Automator videos.

  • @bornkool iMovie already does that for you. It gives you that option in the inspector.

  • thank you

  • Nice video, but this renames the entire file name not just the extension.

  • If your in Leopard set the last step to Extension only, or basename only if you dont want the extension renamed. Not sure how you'd do that in Tiger.

  • Nice video, but the volume is very low.

  • Nice tutorial! When numbering files.... how do I specify which ones come first? I tried by Date Created but it didn't work. It messed all up. Can I undo what I do? ;) Thanks!

  • I'm not even new to mac, I just never knew what automator did, so thanks for doing this, great tut. Five Stars

  • how to remove plugin with i save?

    Help TX

  • Not sure. You should try google.

  • Ok, Mac OS X rules!

  • Great tutorial. 5 star xD

  • I'm a grandma whose a bit computer illiterate/phobic yet I had no trouble following and comprehending your fine tutorial. It feels really great to learn something useful that you didn't know a few minutes before. Thanks much for sharing your knowledge!

  • Very useful, thanks!

  • jamesnell: it would be case sensitive in the automator if originally formatted as such

  • cool, thanks. Great video. You have just taught me a valuable use for Automator ;-) I didn't know what it did until a few seconds ago :P

    Thanks again.

  • Great video, thanks...

For what it's worth, around 4:20 when you say that the finder filter is not case sensitive, I wonder if that'd only because by default apple formats volumes using the non-case sensitive HFS+ file system - hence I suspect if you were to format with the case sensitive one, that filter would be case sensitive. Anyone actually know if that is indeed the case?

Thanks again for the great video.

  • That's actually a great question, and I'm not sure. I've never tried it on both.

  • Wow! Thanks for posting! I have a new MAC and found Automator in my apps menu. I did not have a clue what it could be used for until your tutorial.
