  • @bentron3030 the OLD BROWNS and the CURRENT BROWNS are the SAME team.

  • this was a f*king great game. Leave it to the Bills to find miracle ways to lose a game though lol..

Just teasing, Bills fan 4 lyfe!

  • do you have this whole game?

  • F'n love that song! Damn I'm old ha and miss my Browns. Stupid Ravens and the team we have today ugh.

  • @bentron3030 the old Browns and the current Browns are the same, bentron3030. REPLY BACK, bentron3030.

  • And RIP Merlin Olson, who was his partner this day.

  • takako uehara!

    anpanman!

  • An overlooked classic.

  • Charlie Jones of the best Sports Announcers ever not many could intro a game as well. Calling a great playoff game in 1989.

  • @FRSFreeStatePlus Tom Hammond follows Charlie Jones footsteps. If not for Charlie Jones, Tom Hammond would've been the best Sports Announcers.

  • Now these teams will never get to the playoffs.

  • Effing Ronnie Harmon!

  • I love & miss Charlie Jones calling & introducing games

  • With apologies to Gowdy/Enberg, then later G. Gumbel and Nantz...the real all-time play-by-play voice of the AFC, in my opinion, was Charlie Jones.

  • @kgmule Couldn't agree more...Charlie Jones literally was with NBC back in the old AFL days.

  • @cbaldwinjr Something about Charlie's voice and the NBC production quality/music/sound...unmistakable AFC.

  • Hello viewers of youtube this is Vakano and I want you to check out my new video Simply Put (um bluesing)....

  • I hope they offer philly a 1st rd pick for Donovan Mcnabb. I cant stand Mcnabb but hes a quality quarterback. Its not like the Browns 1st rd picks EVER pan out anyway so why not? Hes got a good 3 years left in him

  • It was Ronnie Harmon who dropped the pass in back of endzone on final drive. On the next play Clay Matthews picked off Kelly to seal the game. I was there

  • The Losers on Lake Erie,Cleveland Clowns.

  • No...

  • This is the game where Don Beebe got upended and the ball popped up and picked off the Brown's Felix Wright... I think. Been a long time!

I also think this is also the game in which Thurman Thomas dropped a pass in the endzone...

  • Then again...

    I am wrong...?

    Fail.

  • @the82spartans

Yep. I was there...great game...After '92 the NFL was never the same.

  • Well... if the Saints can be a Super Bowl winner, then there is still hope!

  • I think that was Ronnie Harman that dropped the pass in the corner of the endzone

  • Hmmmm... I think it was Thurmale, as I used to call Thuman.

I am almost certain Thomas droped one in the end zone in a loss to the Browns.

We will have to consult the record books to confirm.

    Thanks!

  • No biggie I was like in 6th grade when that game was played. I do know we won and thats all that matters

  • @the82spartans Yeah I was 10 yrs old watching that game. I remember thinking Beebe was seriously injured

  • Used to be that OJ Simpson could run away from trouble. Not anymore.

  • lol

  • @SimuLord hey, he has his own problems to get to now. BUT, hes still a hall-of-famer

  • *sheds a tear. RIP Charlie Jones

  • bring these days back!!! go browns!! never stop bein a browns fan....classic clip!

  • SCOTT NORWIDE

  • You're an asshole.

  • The bills (norwood I think) missed an extra point early in this game which turned out to be critical as it meant a FG was not enough from that last drive.

  • Bernie 'bartender give me another' kosar

  • Webster Slaughter was the shit.....he had a good game that day

  • well said, very underrated WR.

  • Gotta love Charlie Jones. One of the best @ what he did.

  • Yes he was, by far.

  • The browns won the game 34-30 Jim Kelly threw a pick to clay Matthews on the goal line with like less than 15 seconds left

  • The play before that, Ronnie Harmon dropped a pass in the end zone.

  • browns won rite?

  • We need the entire game.....Please.

  • GO BROWNS!!!!!!

  • Loved hearing Charlie Jones' voice. I think he called the first-ever AFL game I watched on NBC back in the '60s.

    Thanks for posting!

  • I agree with you. Charlie Jones (God rest his soul) was a very underrated announcer & I loved his voice. Always made me feel like it was a big game.

  • he did however, call the infamous Ahmad Rashad game back in '80 in which Tommy Kramer through a hail-mary to beat our beloved Browns. Unfortunately I will always remember him for that, as great as he was.

  • was that a playoff game, were the Browns in the NFC at one time? i just remember it being a playoff game, but that's probably not right.

  • No, it was actually very late in the season 1980. The Browns could've clinched the division by winning that game, however when Minnesota defeated them in the last second, they had to clinch the following week in Cincinnati.

  • 2 quick Q: Was Brian Sipe QB? And who was Browns QB when Jim Brown was RB?

  • Sipe was QB, and when Brown was running back it was Frank Ryan.

  • thx. Maybe they shud come out of retirement!

  • Agreed, they couldn't do any worse!

  • lol, don't the Browns play Detroit today? yawn....can't wait for the pub to put that game on one of the TV's....

  • Hey it ended up being an entertaining game. Congrats Lions you just handed us the number one pick today!

  • ya, but knowing Cleveland they'll draft a bum.

  • Not enough GFX!

  • What a Classic! Hard to believe that it has been 20 years since the Browns won the division (at the time: AFC Central).

  • I loved this game and this intro.

Isn't that the "War" theme music from Rocky IV?

  • lol OJ

  • ahhh... the good ole days...

  • Another note: I think this was the LAST game Merlin Olsen worked for NBC. Olsen had spent most of the decade as the top color commentator for NBC, but had been demoted when Bill Walsh became available for the 1989 season.

Olsen moved to CBS in 1990 and apparently left broadcasting altogether by about 1993.

  • You are exactly right. It's too bad. Although he was a bit vanilla, Olsen broke a game down very well.

  • Charlie Jones was up their with the likes of Summerall,Lundquist,Enberg,

    Michaels,Gifford,Stockton as great

play-by-play broadcasters the guys that are on FOX are just plain grabage.

  • as a bills fan, this game was a heartbreaker. but as a football fan, it was one of the greatest game ever. yet, it's sadly forgotten. if they had a list of the 10 most underrated great games in nfl history, this one would be near the top.

  • THE JUICE!!

  • was this the game beebe got dropped on his head?

  • yep. his BIG head.

  • I see this was when NBC first began using John Tesh's "Gridiron Dreams".

  • 1989 season

    My favorite NFL theme....bar none

  • It's not NFL or NBA on NBC without John Tesh. Football Night doesn't use Mr. TEsh's music...blasphemy!

  • Charlie Jones is the man. Hopefully, he's up in heaven calling games right now.

  • Gee, whatever became of that O.J. guy?

  • and his winning smile.

  • RIP Charlie Jones, one of the best announcers to ever call the NFL.

  • Dude..You gotta post the Metcalf Return..You just gotta!

  • I just posted the return. Video quality is a little shabby but it will have to do.

search word: Cleveland Browns Metcalf kickoff return

  • Does anyone know the song in the background? Is it from one of the "Rocky" movies possibly?

  • Rocky 4 it is the training montage. If you search for the rocky 4 soundtrack you can find it on that disc.

  • @edwinslow Actually, it's called "War", which shows up during the Rocky/Ivan Drago fight.

  • @edwinslow Saturday 1.6.1990. Love it! Buffalo's first steps to the superbowl going to the net season!

  • @nrwilliams015: in truth the bills edged out a division title in the '89 season...they were 8-7 going into the final game of the regular season....buffalo was actually closer to the superbowl the year before this when they got to the afc championship against the bengals....still i think if the bills instead of the bengals had gone to superbowl xxiii, they would've been been routed by montana and the 49ers...(considering the bills lost to a giants team led by a backup qb in jeff hostetler)

  • @edwinslow Actually, it's "War."

  • rocky IV... u should check the soundtrack

  • Thanks for all the help. I've purchased the soundtrack. I appreciate the replies.

  • @hoppewc it is from Rocky 4. during the Rocky fight vs. Ivan Drago...not the training montage. it is the fight

  • Actually, this was January 1990. It was the '89 season though. I was there.

  • I was born December '89 and these kind of playoff videos inspire me a lot i just cant wait in till the browns can get a divisional HOME playoff game some time here in the future. i cant wait till that day. GO BROWNS!

  • Not an easy catch at all. Makable but not easy. It takes a WR or TE to make that catch. Most RB's won't come up with it. Jerry Rice catches that one. But JR gets double teamed as well, so who knows?

  • I disagree in this situation. Ronnie Harmon made his living in NFL as a 3rd down back Catching the ball and not running the ball, so he should have caught it.

  • And Kevin Johnson, a starting wideout, "should have caught" that pass in the 2002 wild card playoff. No excuse, as the Browns would have iced the game. It was right there. Harmon had a pass that was dificult but not impossible. KJ had a gimme and dropped it.

Regarding the 1989 AFC divisional playoff, Browns DB Kyle Kramer dropped an INT right in his hands w/ nobody near. The Bills had a fumble negated by a premature whistle. The Bills had breaks in that game.

    Browns earned it.

  • go browns

  • man..Bernie used this song to intro the Cleveland Gladiators or as a fourth quarter. Thanks for uploading this for us Dawgs.

  • Ronnie Harmon

Thanks fopr droppin the ball, in the endzone, that cost us this game
