"In the West women see their doctors as soon as they learn they are pregnant" is not true. In most Western countries women see midwives are their primary caregivers. Only women in the U.S. and Canada routinely go to doctors for antenatal care.
@rosymelanie The US and Canada ARE the west, and they DO seek the OB first.... and it happens a LOT in South america too. In fact, it is typical in some places to just schedule a c-section right off the bat. no medical reason... just convenience.
