I remember reading about this song in Rolling Stone when they were working on Adore. I think Rick Rubin was helping them, but then it didn't come out till Machina II and Rick Rubin was nowhere to be found. Amazing Song!
@Sincerelyiris The version on Machina II is not the Adore version, no one has ever heard it! And I'm not talking about the acoustic demo. If anybody finds it, please let me know! Beautiful song, could have been huge, and still is to me.
@aoeria. Oh wow! That's pretty cool. I wonder if it will be released one day! It would be great to hear some Adore rarities. That's honestly one of my favorite albums of theirs. It's just untouchable. Flawless.
@gauchebag billy corgon was just too prolific of a song writer--
and maybe that's what did him in. he never enough time between great songs to allow people to absorb the excellence and thus people didn't pay attention to most of the songs
they're not unmastered demo's, they were never officially released, Billy just sent vinyl CD's of Machina II to some people in the SP community and told them to put it on the internet for free, and not everyone used good equipment to get the songs off the vinyl so not all the files have the greatest quality. Some sound pretty decent though, you just gotta check out all the available download sources, some have better quality than others.
i want to give the world to someone. i like the smashing pumpkins because they are so romantic and i like his mind frame i am sure the woman he is with is happy. i totaly get him i am a romantic too.
This is such a fantastic song, however I wish it had been written in the Mellon Collie era and been put on that album.
I think this because, call me crazy if you like, I think the perfect arrangement would have been with slightly heavier guitars and vocals by both D'arcy AND Billy.
Also, don't you think the Mellon Collie picture in this vid just suits the song so well?
It's just standard chords in E Major (E-C#minor-B-A in the verse) but with open E and B strings on top. It may also be tuned down, don't remember. The chorus has some F#minor's, just play around and you'll get it.
@nzifini I do know it's on machina II but this was one of the 50 tracks that could of appeared on mellon collie, would rather have this in place of 'tales of scorched earth'
yes it was, but the version that Rick Rubin produced hasn't been released yet. or maybe never will since Billy wasn't too happy the way the album was going with his direction.
I really think Butch Vig understand's Billy's music alot more than Rubin. Don't get me wrong, Rubin is a genius, but I just feel like Vig has/had a serious connection to Billy's music.
Rick Rubin hasn't produced an album that wasn't considered a total sell-out for the band he was working with (other than Metallica, somewhat, because they have enough status to stand their own ground) in roughly 10 years. Weezer's Red Album was downhill from Make Believe (debatably), Linkin Park's Minutes to Midnight was definitely downhill from Meteora, and Death Magnetic really only looked good because it followed St Anger. Rick Rubin should hang it up before people catch on imo.
No I think Rick Rubin has produced good albums but then again the producer shouldnt matter, the muscian should. And I thought the Red album was really good. The Greatest Man That Ever Lived and Angel and The One are amazing songs. Rubin produced RHCP's BSSM, One Hot Minute, By The Way, Californication and Stadium Arcadium. All of those albums are amazing.
this song is more then words thrown in but in the rifgt order it becomes a master piece of the heart it speak threw it and threw the heart plus it kind of remind me of her

Rick Rubin is better suited for other bands.
