Hey, I've got a quesion: is it within Gods power to make a cookie soo large that even he himself could not eat it? I mean God is meant to be able to do anything right? But if he makes it so big that even he can't eat it, then he can't eat it! And if he can't eat it, then he can't do anything.
They were the most suitable for this work at hand. Men overall are stronger physically than women. Some would be expected to travel to different nations mostly on foot and would encounter opposition in their journey. The Apostle Paul went through many trials; he encountered thieves, shipwreck, mobbing and imprisonment. Government officials were usually more willing to listen to men than women. Not that God saw man as being more important as to his gender as women are as important to him.
Sounds like Jesus didn't have much faith in women hey. I'm pretty sure Xena: Warrior Princess encountered just as many trials as Paul. I don't recall Paul ever having to fight the God of War.
I might also point out in the Xena introduction, it clearly states: "A land in turmoil cried out for a hero.
She was Xena, a mighty princess forged in the heat of battle."
You might notice that Jesus didn't answer this call. What a douche.
I believe in Jesus but I don't believe he gave us Sydney to live in. We are lucky to be here because the land was taken by colonists. Sydney is great because someone somewhere in the world has to go without - someone in a sweat-shop in Asia earns $1 a day so our shops can make $100 on a pair of Nikes.
So spare us the feel-good hogwash. JESUS SAID: "If you would be perfect, go, sell what you possess and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven and come, follow me."
hey ngrep u r right, by us doing stuff proves nothing, just that we believe in something that u potentially don't & in response 2 that, being God, we want 2 share what we have we those around us. When we have something good even great it is natural 2 want 2 share that wonderous joy & gift with everyone, this bbq is just a little slice of that. We want 2 show a bit of the love that we believe we have recieved from God. But if u want 2 start talking about evidence we can do that if you want
The problem is you peddle false promises as truth and answers, and promote a belief system that does stuff like stop non-believers children in australia from learning anything whilst your children have scripture class, as well as the legal ability to discriminate based on your beliefs. You claim as a right things above and beyond others who do not believe what you do, and peddle it as 'truth' to children. This is costing more than a million dollars, and you guys religions are tax exempt. bah
seeig as you appear such an expert, have you read the bible, have you looked into the evidence of jesus existence, the evidence of the old testament, the evidence of early manuscripts, of transformed lives in the disciples, of the empty tomb, of the amazing work ppl who follow genuinely jesus have done in our world... just wondering have you really had a good look? if you want to I can pt u in the direction of some pretty good evidence...
bibleyouth - don't get sucked into a debate on evidence - It's not about that - Yes there is evidence that Jesus existed as a historical person - but everything else we must accept in faith - I believe it - talk in terms of your FAITH not EVIDENCE. Otherwise there is no point. If we have certainty - we are lost. If we hold on strong to our FAITH in what Jesus stood for - we are on the right track. ANd yes - its about transformed lives, as you mentioned.
Exactly kentjesuita. The problem lies in that this faith is projected as truth, and righteous truth at that. Christians ignore the fact they impose their beliefs on others, in our schools and tax systems and claim rights above and beyond secular groups doing the same thing. You teach this lack of critical thinking to children, stop non-believers from being able to teach their kids ethics while yours are in public school scripture classes. And claim a higher moral standing at the same time.
bibleyouth, indeed I have read the bible, I have also studied religions in the region around that time for the past 30 odd years. I have an extremely good knowledge of exactly what you will try and bring up (like Josephus etc etc) and quite happy for you to start, so that I can point out exactly how it is faith alone and your 'evidence' doesn't exist except in your faith that what other apologists say is true.
Your faith lies with the words of man, bronze age fable at that.
No. Our faith lies in the life of one man. JESUS. No matter what truth you accept about Jesus - whether he is a man, God's son, a messiah, - until you grapple with the meaning of his life you cannot claim you have thought about the mysteries of life and death, or what it means to be human. If kids in bibles studies are taught properly they will not claim any higher moral ground -"There are neither Jews nor Greeks, slaves nor free people, males nor females. You are all the same in Christ Jesus."
oh codswallop. How arrogant to say that unless people have accepted YOUR divine being they haven't grappled with the mystery of life and death. how arrogant, and blind.
@bibleyouth ....When you start to talk about religion in terms of evidence me no longer need faith. Yes there's historial evidence that Jesus existed, but his divinity and resurrection are matters of faith.
It was people that built sydney, of all faiths and none. What a waste of resources and how arrogant to ignore the hard work of people, so that you can stand on the hilltop and scream your faith riding of their work. But, as christians say, it's not deeds that get you into heaven, it's faith alone.
think might be a little misunderstanding, its all about thanking the ppl of sydney for what they have done that makes this place great and also thanking God that we get to live here... if yr in Sydney, u should come down for a free sausage sandwich...
the scriptures actually teach that faith without works is dead. lots of christians go about quietly serving people with no agenda. we simply want to see the world around us be a better place. we aren't interested in brands either.....
Um Christians don't say that at all! The bible was written for different people for audiences at different times in history. It requires DISCERNMENT to read the message. So fundamentalist atheists are just as off the mark as fundamentalist Christians who don't question the bible and see it in historic context.
fundamentalist atheists? fundamentalism = belief in, and strict adherence to a set of basic principles.
What basic set of principles do atheists 'believe in'? Atheists do not believe in a god, that's it. It's lack of belief. I see the bibles historic context, it's a collection of fables of the time, that's it, nothing more. Theists take a leap of faith to state it's divinely inspired.
Instead of putting on a sausage sizzle in the city why dont you guys do something the community needs ?

Jesus didnt favour a certain gender, he had no relations with anybody, he treated everyone equal therefore he was not gay

When exactly did you meet Jesus? I seem to remember that all his disciples were men. Questionable? I think so.

Oh broseph, a quick youtube search for "xena crucifixion" would have saved you the embarrassment of your previous comment.
So the position we are in now is:
Xena crucifixion: Video Evidence
Jesus crucifixion: Second hand knowledge in a storybook written a few thousand years ago with unknown authors.
I think you'd have more credibility praying to Xena.

It's about faith AND works.

bibleyouth, problem is you have no evidence, just 'the bible is true because the bible says it's true' circular reasoning.
You want to share something just like any other cult does.

exactly.
You are correct ngrep.
there is no evidence -
that's why it's called FAITH......
And even Jesus died on the cross not knowing exactly what his fate would be....

Romans 3:28 A man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law.
I suppose it depends what parts of the bible you chop and accept, and which interpretation of the many you follow.
When you refer to we, you refer to all christians, even if christians do good things, this does not mean there is a god, or there was a jesus.
