@10yroldcarlover The Series 1 Coupe, which this is, was the most beautiful and is excellently proportioned, the 2+2, is, I agree, less pretty, but still a lovely car.
@10yroldcarlover It's entirely opinion based, I think the coupe flows better, and with the convertible, you lose that fantastic roofline, though, on a perfect summers evening, with the wind in your hair, and the sound pinging off the trees, then a convertible is best. Every other time though, I'd stick with my coupe.
@BMan100 4 is actually plenty, maybe an overdrive or a 5spd to kick the cruising RPM down a bit, but 6 gears is far too many, you end up having to double shift to make any dent in the RPMs. 6 is only useful if you have a very high top speed, i.e. 200mph + as the gears are more spaced out.
I wanted one of these SOOO bad! I had a chance around 1975 to buy a pristine 1967 for $5k and came close to doing so. But a friend had a 1964 (3.8) and said, 'Don't do it!'
The drive train apparently was great - and Enzo was right - but the electrical was a disaster - multiple horror stories. Lucas almost single-handedly put Jag out of business!
I understand there is a standard modification 'kit' of some sort to upgrade the car's weak spots, electrical, radiator and such, True?
@HickysBoy Very true. In fact, a semi competent DIY electrician can re-wire a car in a weekend. I did my E type a day, and to me, electronics are witchcraft in a box. Rad's are not too bad, so long as you keep them clear of guk, and the rest of it is pretty good. Rust is an issue, but not if you clean it regularly. The rear diff is the only other thing I've had go wrong on mine, the seals perished 'cos they were old, and oil leaked on the inboard rear disks easy to remedy though.
@TheWatzitooya This is a video of an E type, on a Miura video, I would proclaim my love for that too. The only thing stopping the Miura is the lights. The fronts have those eyelashes, which I'm un decided on, and the rears are a smidge too small. It is a truly stunning car, but perfection is not present.
@jewelcat9 The styling was outdated by the mid 70s, people wanted spoilers and things. The actual design though, was fine. The rear end for example (Diff, brakes, suspension, driveshafts) was carried over to the XJ-S because it was so good still. Infact, it was even used on the XJ series', a fact which makes owning an S1 XJ12, and an S1 E type, just that bit less stressful.
cool! I wonder this and asked to my dad : "I wonder how much could a Classic Jaguar could cost? Because Classic Mustangs are over $20,000?" Thanks for uploading Hagerty!! It's one of my favorite classics ever
i wish it was top down convertable, they look proper with the 2+2 it looks good but unperportionate

In 1968 there was a Series 1 and a half, at th time when the American regulations banned the glass covers. This was just before the S2.

@HagertyKnowsClassics No , but I've got a lot of pictures. I will see if I can make a nice slideshow of it and put it on YouTube this weekend.
At the moment the body is at the body shop to respray and restore everything. Here we've got the engine , suspension , brakes , and anything else.

There would be better "looking and listening" without the frantic music and video editing.
