Everytime theres some arty farty music people mention drugs in the commentary field. This is to undervalue the effect of the music ITSELF. Ever heard of an abstract expressionist saying "take som acid before looking at Jackson Pollock?"
Fantastic memories of '72 with my mates Malcolm & Patsy (where are u now?).. I was 19yrs old, never on drugs, staring at the Lava lamp for hours watchin the changin shapes listenin to this. Also reminds me of recordin it onto a cassette & walkin around Shirley Hills with my new Philips cassette recorder playin this, & layin down watchin the sun shinin through the trees. Man alive. This track is truly wonderful. Timeless.
i have found a way how to get high with out doing some werid stuff were you hung upside down drink a litre of coka cola or takeing drugs and that is called terry rileys music
This is so chill. I have this on CD. I have also seen the performance of his "In C" at the Walt Disney Concert hall in 2006. Splendid stuff. Thank you for sharing.
@ViolentKreation This is too "meat and potatoes" for the kids... they need that souped up shite, more stodge, simple, predictable mass produced stuff.. they'll come around sooner or later...
@ViolentKreation the reason dub step is cooler than terry riley is because people can't handle it. The amount of dissonance, A-rhythmicalness (yes i did make that up. it means without rhythm, beat or tempo) and repetition used in this is too much for people. It like terry riley is straight vodka and dubstep is light beer. people just can't handle his amazing talent.
@ViolentKreation people have not experienced the void...if someone plays dubstep whilst i'm tripping i feel the need to stab them in the neck, if only i could move....
@ThatsTheZone I know a lot of people who, like me, who are into "electronic" and "art rock" - more on the Eno/Behrman side than the ELP stuff - who have relatively thin skins about what others say about this music. It is great, just like any other types of music.
Don't take offense when I say this, but this is the only type of music that I can fall asleep to. Not in a bad way, either; just calm and relaxing, as if I'm putting on my p.j.s, ma's giving me warm milk and dad tucking me in.
not sure if I prefer Ligeti or Riley for this scene. this one is more "explore the fascinating world of space." Ligeti is more like "watch as your face slowly melts off"
When I first heard this song on a radio station, I thought it was a tribute track to the arcade game "Rainbow Islands". The album cover looks the same and even the synth samples sound similar. But now I see in the comments this was composed decades ago. Huh. This song must have been an inspiration for it!
Sounds like the galaga game. I respect this man as a pioneer but you ARE tripping if you think this outclasses today's standards in Trance/Electronic music ~___~

What trips me out is this is most likely electronic music from the early 70s? The funny thing is when i listen to newer carbon based lifeforms its not that much newer? In some ways it is..Well in orbitalways.
I just had my first mushroomtrip today, i lay on my sofa with this song looping for 3 hours, while journeying through my mind, it was fucking indescribable!
I listen this music when I used allot of mushrooms, my mind is racing like a m****rf**ker, I sit in the forrest, let this music take over and I see all kinds of coloured energyfield hovering over the ground. It looks like these energyfields are feeding the trees and the plants and stuff.
