In real life stallions don't act like human fathers spending a lot of time with the foal the stallion just protects the herd the mother is the one that does usually 99% of the caring and then if the foal is a male when it get older it will fight the lead stallion for a chance to become the new leader but if he loses then he either leaves the herd to find one of his own or becomes a tag-a-long to the herd

@BbClarinet4 not entirely true , not with domestic horses anyway I live on a farm with a heard of horses and the stallion does spend time with the foals and the bonds that form between a stallion and his foals can be quite amazing .

Spirit (Same story as the film - this book is hard to get hold of though!)

Esperanza (This is the story of Spirit's mother & father 'Strider')

Bonita (This is the story of Esperanza's mother - aka - Spirit's grandmother)

Sierra (This is the story of Rain's mother & Father 'Storm'

all I know is that in the chapter book, there is a mention of Stryder (Or Strider), Spirit's dad. I'm sure he's dead or captured.

@adavid988 Actually I believe Dreamworks released the name of Spirit's dad as Strider. If not then some other way- but his name is Strider. As for knowing his coloring, well, if you knew anything about horses you'd know that the best chance to get a buckskin would be for one parent to be a palomino (his mother) and the other would be either a black or a bay... so they are all pretty close. Stop fighting over stupid stuff it's just a movie.

So i guess he was born by divine intervention? Because there's no other way his mother could have gotten pregnant with spirit. Just because his father wasn't in the movie doesn't mean he didn't have one. I always figured his father was either killed or captured, since spirit's mother seemed to run the herd, and there were no stallions to run spirit out when he got older.
