Yo man I remember when it was my life too! I gave up a lot of the marching stuff to focus on set and more specifically jazz. It was cool to have snare chops but it wasn't cool when you'd come back from practicing feeling as if a metal bar was shoved up your forearm. That shit hurt!
Dude, I gave credit to the guys I learned stuff from in the video credit. I KNOW I STOLE THAT STUFF FROM THEM!!! Not once did I say that all this stuff was made and composed by me so please stop being a jackass and calm down. kthx
Yo Seefy! It's Evan Young from back at SBHS! haha. I saw your video linked to that Blue Devils I&E Snare Drum video and I was like, MAN! I HAVENT SEEN YOU IN A FLIPPIN' LONG TIME! Awesome video man! I'm trying to be more competent in Snare Drum lately so I'll talk to you soon.
gr8, love the tricks but what would make it even better would be to have a bit more dynamics in there however i no it isnt easy to get brill volume changes for a recording on a practice pad, nice one =]
I know i sound like a jerk when i say this but i HATE it when people take other peoples material and use it for themselves. especially on solos. i mean its a solo...come up with YOUR own stuff.
I think you're talking about the one where he passes the stick between his hands and plays a triplet roll. Yeah, I know how to do that one, took some practice
ya, i dont play as much as i use to when i was in hs. before mickey showed me how to do that, i couldnt figure out that last note before switching to the other hand. cause you first do the triplet part than hit it with the back of your sick, the hit again, then while you grab it with your other hand hit it again and repeat. i can do it very slow but i'm no expert. how did you figure out his solo anyway. do you know mickey?
Heh, I wish i knew the dude. I just looked at his solos from PASIC and learned the tricks he did by slowing his patterns down and watching them. I did that with most of the stuff that I played in that solo that was made up from other people.
thats cool. he went to etsu and teaches at the high school he went to. and the high school that i went to my band director goes to church with mickey. so luckly he was or drum instructor. and i took lessons from him to be section leader my senior year. i havent seen him in about 3 years. his sophmore year in high school he made like next to center snare in drum corps with is pretty good. you would be amazed just watching him play.
never said I could match up with him. Mickey is sick and could rip me up in a heartbeat. For what it's worth though, I've gotten better since then technique wise ^^. My heights back then were wayyy too high and I forced some stuff out near the end. But still, I could still use work for sure.
Dude ur dragging, tap dragging and triplet rolling everything! LoL.....U need a teacher. That micky burmer part where u drop the stick is played in herta`s....such a fake.
Mayne yo vid is raw as hell, and Im really liking your pad what kind is it, those fucking RIM SHOTS sounded like GunShots DUTDUT-DAT!! Some height problems which can more than likely be worked out just by bringing those inner beats down a little otherwise monster chops. How long have you been playing? And are you trying out for a corp cause if you can play in a line your golden...
Very nice. I really liked that first Ivan part you had. The end was weak compared to the rest of the solo (but still amazing). Good luck with the compitetion.
Nice, lovin the double ups and cheeses, but I wasn't quite diggin some of the heights on your flam rudiments. Alot of them were pretty equal in height, try keeping the beads of the other stick down when bringing up the other.
damn dude, lol, I am doing a solo similar to that; a compilation of all the "great's" tricks and techniques, (including the "death drop"), for one of my school's assemblies that My buddy and I are opening in the main gym... it's gonna be awesome!! where are you from?
I remember when this stuff was my life... i SOOOO suck at it now.. If you were in LA i would take lessons from you!!
