Interesting point he raises about the right for witnesses, sounds like the Senate doesn't want to invoke any Obama administration key players in this mess at all costs. Even if he could bring witnesses the tape is enough to fry him most likely..but it does raise an interested constitutional question.

There is NO Constitutional question. The Sixth Amendment does NOT apply except in criminal cases. While the Fifth does require "Due Process" - the witness issue is not included there. And he can call witnesses! But he would have to pass the relevancy bar - not simply the politically interesting bar.
