@nigelgerald Although I completely agree that IF it's not in God's word, then one should not believe it; however, God's word says that everyone must be born of water (baptism) and the Spirit to see His kingdom*John 3:3-7. And the evidence is speaking with other tongues*Acts 2:4 Furthermore, the reason we ALL need His Spirit is because He gives us power Acts1:8 He intercedes for us when we don't know what to pray *Romans 8:26 etc.. it's a gift for everyone! And He wants you to get it *Luke 11:13

I speak in tongues! It is not from the devil! The devil doesn't want us to get it because it's power! Speaking in tongues is to build up not only the body of Christ but to build up the believer! THe Lord tells us "But you, dear friends, build yourselves up in your most holy faith and pray in the Holy Spirit." Jude 1:20 Read act 2. All the apostles got the baptism of the Holy Spirit with the evidence of speaking in tongues. Jesus told them to "wait for the promise of the father."

I do agree with his point of view on "tongues". It is in the scriptures, clearly written and explained in the Word.

James 5:14-15

Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord: 15And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him.

The "elders" I would imagine were mature devout followers of the Lord, men with authority and power...and then the one being annointed must have faith. Of course this scripture says "save" not "heal"

I don't think I can agree with Mr. Stanley on his statement on the gift of healing, my uderstanding of the scriptures is that some people have the ability to pray for people and God will heal them. Jesus did it, the disciples did it. Jesus also always told people their faith healed them. So healing depended on the power of the person performing the healing and the faith of the one receiving it.

If i can add one more thing. The Jews of Jesus time made the same missake they told the people that Jesus cast out the demons by the power of the king of the demons from the Devil.. Jesus told them that all sins will be forgiven men but the sin against the holy spirit would not. So what is diffrence Mr Stanley saying that only one of these gifts are satanic. So how about all the other gifts that are miss used? To single out one is not from God. this Judgement is from man, just as the jews did

Can i tell you somthing about the gifts of the spirit!! Mr stanley is very right about all most all the gifts of the spirit, but the gift fo tongues he his wrong. we must look at pauls letters to Cor. ch12-14 Paul is coreting the Cor.church becauce they were miss using there gifts. this is what these chapters are about and how we as Christians must use these gifts. When i came to the Lord i did not ask him for this gift but he gave it to me. But to say that it is from the Devil is Wrong.

The personal prayer language of tongues is also meantioned in Jude 20. "Building yourselves up in your most holy faith, by praying in the HOLY GHOST." The public gift of tongues, personal prayer language of tongues and the use of tongues for supernaturally interpreting a known human language for the Glory of God.. All different uses...all real uses...all gifts from God. I respect Him very much, but to deny the gift of tongues to the church is to deny the power of God. Jesus is the Head, Amen.

Well, spoken like a devout Baptist preacher I must say. It makes me sad that someone who is so into the Word of God can be so miss lead in the area of the gifts of the spirit and speaking in tongues. Paul wrote, "I thank God that i speak with tongues more than you all..." and also that he spoke with the tongues of men AND of angels. What the heck is that? its a supernatural personal prayer language...which is different that the public use of Tongues with interpretation which = prophecy.

Around 6:25 I don't understand how he can say that speaking in tongues (all gifts, he says) is for edifying the church as a whole, Paul makes it clear in 1Cor 14:4 that the church is not edified when a person speaks in tongues, only the speaker is, because the church cannot understand. "For anyone who speaks in a tongue does not speak to men but to God. Indeed no one understands him; he utters mysteries with his spirit (1Cor14:2). He MUST know this scripture! How do you disregard it? READ 1Cor14

does anyone know if dr. stanley has a bible college? i'm looking for a bible college where he teaches or is in accordance with his teachings. i'm being very careful about my choice because it's dangerous. but i think i found it. i think he's "it" for me. help will be appreciated!!!
