  • Its funny that I found this video cause I have been using that concept for a long time but I use it in my car with a 12V fan. I am a PI and it works great when you have to sit in a car for hours but you can't run the cars AC.

  • love the Ideal.

  • Nice

  • Hey this is great !!!! Thank you

  • Thanks for the video!

I'm thinking you might want to have a second fan, to push the cooled air out into the room.

By the way: did you hear that the powers that be will do an "experiment" to change the 60 cycle frequency that alternating current runs at? Is there a fix for that? Take care.

  • Thank you sir, I was trying to make one of these. I was going to use a heat exchanger in front of a fan, while using a pump in a cool water cooler to feed the exchanger. But your design is much simpler.

  • this is very cool

  • lmao! that is pretty freakin' genius!

  • Hot damn!

  • Now that is just freaking clever.

  • Neat idea, but have you considered something along the lines of a swamp cooler? it wouldn't require water to be cold and would work no matter what and is used to keep homes reasonably cool in places like Arizona.

  • how cool!

  • Dig it,great idea.

  • I wonder if computer exhaust fans would work better with the solar set up IE less drain on the batteries/panels. I love the idea tho! Great stuff man!

  • @mojomedic1 My first design had two large PC Fans, and it didn't work too good... This setup will keep a small bedroom pretty cool.

  • @drail9884 Solar fridge, I'm going to be looking into that... how much did it cost?

  • Would it be more effective to have the bottles standing upside down? (provided there is enough space for air circulation) The coldest air in your cooler will be at the bottom. If the warm air were to circulate around and below the bottles, you may get cooler air. Neat idea.

  • @cockercane Ya i also had this idea, you need a dryer pipe to funnel the air to the bottom of the cooler so the air is forced threw the bottles and not just on top.

  • good idea.....just subbed

  • I hope the shit doesnt hit that fan lol

  • nice job :)

  • Cool Idea man. Inventive!

  • It would work better if you just set the water bottles in the room :) You will end up making the room hotter because the fans inefficiency.

  • This is the most elegant solution that I have seen.

  • grid goes down ur freezer stops working you've basically lost your cooling. Those frozen bottle's will keep u cool for awhile but i dont see how this would be good when u have no power for weeks. you would end up drinking the water anyways

  • @hastypasty Totally agree, but a short power outage from a isolated storm, this would work great for the first 6 to 8 hours...

  • @hastypasty I bet you could use cold packs to freeze the water also. I f you know the chemistry you could make your own giant cold packs out of ammonia fertilizer.

  • Since heat stress is cumulative, haveing something for relief would be great and could save lives. I too have several frozen water bottles. I use them as ice cubes in my cooler but they also are good for saving electricity since when I open the freezer the space they take up remains cool. In other words a half empty freezer would dump all its air and you have to refreeze that air everytime you open it up

  • that would possibly work really good with the same system with the thermo electric coolers with the fan and bottles :)

  • probably sounds like a dumb question to some ppl but what does the SHTF stand for anyway?

  • @hellcatjay lmao never mind, s**t hits the fan cant believe i didn't catch that right away

  • id personally be keeping that ice in the fridge during a power outage to keep the stuff from spoiling lol

  • @danz409 I usually rotate them out, so I always have frozen water bottles in the fridge...

  • Totally cool idea! Florida heat won't get us down with this Red Neck A/C Excellent!!!

  • @johnboysrevenge Oh yea, it works too... Thanks for the comment

  • handy gadget, BTW.

perhaps this method could also help in a short term power loss situation to keep perishable food items from being ruined.

maybe even fill it with dry ice and set it inside a larger cooler?

  • please don't freeze your water bottles - because it releases dioxin which is carcinogenic

    source:

    snopes. com /medical/toxins/cookplastic. asp

  • @yinghonghaohan319 I'm just wondering if you read the article, cuz it says its false...

    Quote from snopes link:

As for concerns about dioxins being released by freezing water in plastic bottles, Dr. Halden says: This is an urban legend. There are no dioxins in plastics. In addition, freezing actually works against the release of chemicals. Chemicals do not diffuse as readily in cold temperatures, which would limit chemical release if there were dioxins in plastic, and we don't think there are.

  • @offthegridsurvival you're right, I just read the top part of the article. Thanks for clarifying that.

  • @yinghonghaohan319 no problem, thanks for your concern though

  • @offthegridsurvival This urban legend probably comes from back when we used paper milk cartons, they had dioxin in them and some people did freeze water in them to use like bagged ice(which melts everywhere in your cooler)

  • pretty cool..it looks very well built

  • great idea

  • thats brillant love it that would work good here in orlando

  • @nellynell77 it works great in georgia!

  • nice idea

  • you are one inventive poe-chucker....

  • @gearboy12550 lol.... thanks!

  • That's an awesome air conditioner Sgt. Randal.

  • Nice job Randal. Its a great idea to prepare for anthing whether its long or short term.

    CHEERS

  • A good idea....

  • Thats awesome great invention

  • @WarfareGuerrilla I appreciate it... I wish I could take credit for "inventing it", but I can't as I saw a "how to" video on youtube for this... but it works great though!!!

  • @WarfareGuerrilla Hey, you just subscribed to my channel but I am blocked from seeing your channel. What's up with that?

  • @onlywhenprovoked Your not blocked... I have no clue!

  • @onlywhenprovoked Uhhh, nevermind... that wasn't directed at me, my bad!

  • @offthegridsurvival There was no other way to talk to this guy besides finding him in a comment section through google. He's got everyone blocked... so I figured I'd ask him before I block him back. You know how youtube is with trolls and sock accounts.

Sorry to make a mess on your page with something totally unrelated to your video.

  • @onlywhenprovoked No problem brother, handle your business...
