This video made me think of this. I would have loved to have heard Julie Andrews sing Lloyd Webber's PotO. I bet her ending to that number would blow all the others out of the water
In Nashville in the 70s, before SNL was on the air, our NBC affiliate showed old horror movies on Saturday nights, like most towns did. Our "horror host" was named Sir Cecil Creape--The Phantom of the Opry. I would guess the ladies were unaware. :)
Her voice just BLOOMS in the higher register. I wonder if she had chosen to sing some opera, she might have been quite the successful one in that arena as well. I heard there was talk of her doing The Merry Widow with Domingo. I wish she had done it! Her High As are to DIE for! such raw beauty and spin of the sound!
classic carol & Juile. whenever they worked together it was magic. this brings back so many wonderful memories of their brilliance as versatile performers. The carol burnett show was one of my favorite shows as a kid and its unfortunate we don't have tv that is anywhere near this calibur today.
how old was julie at this time? she looks kinda 40ish(I mean she always looks younger than she actually is ---- she was in her early 30s when she was in the Sound of Music.).
One of the best sketches ever made. Carol's screaming and southern accent cracks me up every time and Julie trying to sing off key is just the funniest thing ever. Woo woo!
"LOWER!!!" *sings lower* BOOOOOO! "HIGHER!!!" *sings higher* BOOOOOOOO!!!!! "Lower AND higher!!! >=O" Oh I cant, I can't!!! errr... LAAAAAA!!! and "*mouths*GET OUT OF MY SPOTLIGHT..." LOLLL o.m.g. thats so hilarious
Oh, ok thank you! Wow, where did you get the clips from? (If you don't mind me asking.) Wow, it's a shame they only have it on VHS, but I'll still buy it anyway! Thank you so much!
This is so amazing...gotta love both of em'. However, is there absolutely anyway to get a copy of this nowadays. Like is it part of a performance or something?
