I LOVE this song. It sounds like a girl in a bad, abusive or controlling relationship. (she has to sneak to talk to him at the window...her love is a dream...I guess the singer thinks she is wasting her life with that guy, and he's sad because he thinks she's worth more and wasting her life. (I think the bird under her skin is her heart that she doesn't reveal to anyone.) Hope I was right! This song is AWESOME!

Dan Vickery is such an underrated guitarist. It's not easy to base your music around lyrics. Of course he's not the only one dealing with Adams writing, but I have the utmost respect for him. Saw them too many times to count and live they manage to be even more amazing!!

We live in a strange country. Back in 97 or 98 I saw Counting Crows at a concert with the Wall Flowers. Everyone was like - Yeah Wall Flowers - eeewwww - Counting Crows suck!! I thought the opposite and in fact it was like I had thought I had to pretend to like Dylan's band or be shot. Counting Crows had so much better music and well written lyrics - they're extremely underrated. Same story for another band I llike, Rush. Great music and most people say they "suck". America is strange.

This is such an underrated band. Adam Duritz is amazing - almost all of his writings are so deep and poetic. So many of the CC songs seem to personally speak to me about my own life and It seems to me it is the same way for others also.

I love this song for so many years and the funny part, or more the unfortunate part is that i just got in such a situation. Girl in a very bad relationship, yet she loves me but cant let go the past. She rather sticks to misery then looking forward. Its not explainable at all, but atleast with this song i know Iam not the only one.
