  • I like the face he makes at 1:33! Hahahahha

  • Only just got around to buying Reproduction on CD, doesn't half seem weird listening to these tracks again without all the vinyl crackle :D

  • What is this "dub step" I keep reading about?? This band is over thirty years old, whatever they are doing, it should be called that. If you see what I mean, shouldn't whatever "dub step" is be renamed to reflect that it is a rip off of something thirty plus years old? Saw the same phrase used to describe ska music from the seventies and I don't see any resemblance to ska.

  • 2:21 my favorite part it sounds so cool!!

  • The early League's got some great gems too. This is one of them.

  • This is synpop at his best, no remakes about Phil's age...I still like it and still dance on it -)

  • At 2:21 comes the dub-step drop. Fuck me... these guys were well before their time!

  • All time classic!

  • Some of the best electropop of all times.

  • Remember when We use to sing this at school Sean.

  • Early Human League was pretty damned cool. "Empire State Human" is my second favorite song by them, followed by "Wxjl." I love that early New Wave attitude. Right when disco collapsed, it took over.

  • They were great before they decided to become a bunch of manikins.

  • im 100% sure he says 'niggers-of-war-war-war'

  • @sonnyjimsonnjim lolololol funny bastard! xD - not being sarcastic! nice one lol

  • GREAT SONG! :)

  • incredible find!!!!!

  • OLD GOOD <3

  • A reformed original Human League would really be something worth seeing and more importantly worth hearing. I don't doubt they could come up with some interesting new material as well. So come on chaps, how about burying that hatchet? Preferably in David Cameron's head!

  • @MisAnnThorpe: Done. They have a new album. I just saw them last night (in Boston, MA, with Men Without Hats opening). Brilliant gig. A good mix of classics and new songs. Classy and memorable.

  • @jigen08 Are you winding me up? I thought that a Human League reunion was about as likely as The Beatles doing so! How did the new material sound on first listen? Oh and thanks for the information.

  • 3 peoples want to be the human size...

  • This was before the girls came in...

  • Words do not express the beauty of this song. It's fun, sinister, dark and just plain AMAZING! :)

Kicks the shit out of David Guetta and his recycled pop trash!

  • he looks like an emo :-)

he reminds me of the singer of AFI

  • @ffm20zaheri Davey Havok and Philip Oakey? yeahh they are both just.. idk. Philip's hair changes all the time. hes bald now but all of the band is still so amazingly talented and good-looking! and amazing. I hear they all have big hearts too. Sorry for this random outburst I just agree with your comment (;

  • Human League at their best, b4 the slappers they picked up in a Sheffield Disco

  • At 1:08 the Doctor appears! Bloody Time Lords .... they're like flies! Wherever you look in History, when something of interest is about to kick off... up springs a Tardis!

  • with concentration my size increased now i have 14 inches at least

  • Kicks the shit out of 'Don't You Want Me', as well as making it look obsolete overnight.

  • Empire State Human is the best song by Human League I know.

  • still sounds good today...brill.

  • 'blind youth' was a great song too ! .."no future they say, but must it be that way ??"

  • they didn't know how right they were ..grew SO tall !! ..these 'growing years' were the most remarkable ..such brilliance !

  • BRING IT! LOVE IT! OWN IT!...1980's!...FIERCE!

  • columbo!!

  • FIERCE!!!

  • This is a classic. Anyone agree they were WAY ahead of their time. If the original human league came out in 2011, they would be on fire period!

  • @davefried81 yes very futuristic im a massive fan..and they were way ahead of anything else out then..apart from gary numan him and the human league were above anyone else

  • i fancy phillip oakey so much he is 55 and still looking good for his age

  • i love this song they played this in hailifax on tueday the 30th november in hailifax tall tall tall

  • lol play a keyboard with a keyboard

  • Another great dance track....

  • they played this in hailifax on tuesday

  • We'll say this much, Philip Oakey sure got what he wished for!

  • Avoid the crowds and traffic jams. The Human League new song is called NIGHT PEOPLE! Produced by i-Monster.

    Their website is

    thehumanleague.co.uk

  • Sweet. Classic line up of, "Martyn Ware, Adrian Wright, Phil Oakey, Ian Craig Marsh."

  • I love this song. It's great. Great band, I love them.

  • I've been listening to this all day. It's brilliant.

  • do do doo bigadabo bo boo ...

  • Glad i grew up through this period in music, no words for the garbage around nowadays

  • that beat is crazyyily insane ... better than the bullshit i hear these days

  • I can't see Ian Craig Marsh in the video ?

  • almost as good as what i get up to when im phyced

  • @danfento you dont get phyched not really

  • My favourite part of this vid is the subliminal Peter Falk shot at 2:18...

  • Bloody hell this takes me back a couple of decades. Back to the Rumrunner in Brum and Romeo and Juliets when they were both alive and kickin. I actually met Oakey in the Rumrunner he was really tall and very much the poser

  • @kaydee23x takes me back to the limit on west street saw them there. hope you,re an owl.

  • Pure genius

  • I love the old school-sounding synth work in this...really goddamn awesome!

  • @SINthetikTerror This is PROPER old school! Still sounds good seeing as it was recorded over 30 years ago. I feel well old, now!

  • @NoisyMaff Since I was born in '82 this song is older than I am!

  • my dad has something like "the best of human league" on his iPod and i was looking through it all thinking "what do you mean empire state human isnt on there?!"

  • This is played in Worried About The Boy

  • Is Martyn Ware using a MiniMoog to play a Roland Jupiter4??

  • Pure Synth Pop....fantastic sound...... Reproduction is the Best !

  • Reproduction is probaly the best release by the Human League

  • Martyn Ware is quite a synth hero.. I mean what an idea, using a synth to play a synth, physically lol :]

  • Around this time I was watching Simple Minds gigging.. ( 1 van and no roadies) and Japan (David Sylvian) in Edinburgh. bono and the boys never appeared for another year. Bow Wow Wow, Spandua ballet, Kraftwerk appeared at the Hoochie Coochie Club one night after a gig. Grace Jones the lot...Talking heads those were the days....

  • I got this album from the back of a lorry, literally!! Someboby was chuckin them out the back of a van in thier hundreds in a scabby housing scheme (Broomhouse) in Edinburgh...I got about 10 copies, the one with the babies on the front. 1979 I believe.

  • Heard this in a nightclub about 1984, one of their best songs i thought, and ty for having it here for me to enjoy!!

  • why so few viewers this was supposed to be a classic and ithink it really is. gorgeous melody

  • @vaggelisparaskevas

the reason this is almost unknown is because it is the only released single from the reprodution album which is PRE-dont you want me

and most people only know the human league from THAT single

before that there was the reproduction album and the travelogue album both of with had some classic tracks on them most notable were several from the tralogue album

  • loved their Gordon's gin add but can't find it anywhere here

  • Heard this song for the first time in a drama on the BBC a couple of days ago about Boy George. It was playing in the background whilst they were in the Blitz club. Loved the song and glad it's here.....

  • @Charly36c I am the same did you like worried about the boy?

  • @Charly36c me too....

  • brilliant, just brilliant !!!

  • Great tune, love early Human League

  • Awesome !!

    Geetings from brazil !!

  • BRILLIANT!

Phil Oakey - 30+ years ahead of his time...

  • This is 30 years old but it is SO contemporary! My brother had this single alongside others by John Foxx, Caberat voltaire, Japan, Visage etc! He was a synthpop nut... Great single cover as well!

  • amazing .the Banshees and League in one night.Wish I was there.this is early stuff .these guys were so great!!!

  • Human League just signed to UK recording label Wall of Sound! New material (songs, videos, album) expected in 2010!!!!

  • this is so addictive this song. Words are class

  • Fuckin' AWESOME!! End of story!

  • One of the best songs ever made. Brings back amazing memories. Every time you hear it it's as good as the 1st time.

  • First band I ever went to see way back in

    '81 at Liverpool Empire.Quite marvelous!

  • not my first band but i was there.sousxie and the banchees was the first at the empire 80.

  • Yeah, Human League supported Siouxsie and the Banshees during that tour. How lucky you were to witness to two great acts on the same day! Both the bands liked each other. That's what I heard.

  • have no recollection siouxsie´s support band 80.the first i remember seeing the league was 81.maybe i did,it was a lot of years and beers ago but great band and song anyway

  • Another fine crafted track from the Marsh/ Ware era. The sequenced bass line and catchy melody, make this a great dance song! It's a shame they don't make songs like this anymore. Great stuff!

  • I know it's actually about desiring fame, but there's something genuinely creepy about this song. Despite the electropop form, it's still a medieval-style 'Wicker Man' maypole dance at heart.

  • I agree.

    Its like a spell

  • @Slammerworm1 What an insightful comment. Yes, there really is something underneath this song but I can't quite grasp it.

  • @Slammerworm1 ha ha indeed!

    .....inflated pig's bladders all round!

  • @Slammerworm1 ha ha so true.. . . . inflated pig bladders all round!

  • This is cool. Good song, but not as good as "Being Boiled".

  • Awesome!! 8-O Great song!!

  • @BlueMonday1988 Your comment is clever. Your youtube name is my favorite song. I think we should be friends :)

  • nah crow and a baby is there best , but this still rocks

  • This what they play at a nightclub for Cybermen!

  • One of their best songs. Video looks authentic to the design of the reproduction LP inner sleeve, I always liked so much. Prefer reproduction, travelogue, soundtrack to a generation and the latest.

The songs of the 1980s are boring to me.

  • wow

    puntuacion maxima!!!

    genial disco al completo

  • Aw Philip! Why sack the other guys and go onto Synthpop? You were perfectly suited to Electropop, your voice has almost no vibrato. :(

Ah well. I still like the Human League that are around today, but I prefer the old stuff. My second favourite HL song (ZeroAsALimit is my favourite).

  • One of their slides is Tom Baker! ahaha, that's so cool.

I have their "very best of" dvd. I was watching it with my dad and he got all excited over Tom Baker being in this clip. Hehehe.

  • great music!!! sounds like early depeche mode music

  • I didn't even know this had a clip available! Thankyou for posting. Awesome track before (as is often the case)they were overcome by commercialism.

  • I love it. Ages ago but still one of the best.

  • best thing they ever did ..great to see this after sooooo long
